Very good experience start to finish. Picked Total Home Consultants when the company our realtor originally recommended was booked (and more expensive). Office staff was responsive and knowledgeable, all communications were clear and easy. Matt showed up early for the inspection and spent 4-5 hours in our house, and was happy to have us walk around with him. Even checked the roof by drone. Report was available that night and radon test results in two days. Matt was also helpful and responsive with a few follow up questions by phone. We made good use of the report in negotiations with the seller, and feel like we now know every little thing that will need even minor attention after move-in. Note they do send a follow up email asking if you'll write a review, which probably explains the volume of reviews here, but there is (appropriately) no compensation or high pressure for it. read more

Thorough and incredibly professional. I was in the process of purchasing a second home from out of state. Given COVID restrictions, traveling to the home site was out of the question. Even though I was purchasing a new build, I wanted the peace of mind of an inspection and Total Home really stepped in and did an incredible job with my best interest in mind - my builder told me later the inspector spent at least 2 hours at the home site. I don't know who my inspector was, but I couldn't thank them enough. I had the pleasure of having Matt come out for my condo inspection, but before getting into that, let me address the professionalism and kindness I was greeted with when first calling Total Home Consultants. I had to schedule my inspection during the weekend of Thanksgiving and realized that a lot of companies weren't answering calls. Mike, the owner, answered my call and gave some insight on the skylights I was concerned about. It was nice that someone in this business actually had knowledge about what I was talking about. It was great not speaking to a call center. I followed up to schedule an inspection the next week with Lisa who was also great. She informed me about the Yelp deal and was just all around friendly! I was able to pay for the inspection during the inspection with credit card and no processing fee. Matt arrived at our property on time and starting inspecting the outside, taking pictures, and addressing my concerns of the roof & skylights. He did a thorough job and then walked us through what he noticed about the property when he was finished. He was willing to answer any silly questions we had and gave us his card if we had any followup questions. Matt was personable, helpful, and offered great insight into our purchase. We got our report that night. Matt called me the next day to let me know that the report will be resent due to the system not picking up that there were sprinklers in the unit and told me how unprofessional it was to have to resend the report. I called the Total Home Consultants to setup the home inspection. Hannah was extremely courteous and patient on the phone. She was very helpful and she provided all the information in a professional and timely manner. On the day of the inspection, by the time I arrived at the site, the home inspector, Sean was already there. He was already inspecting the exterior of the home, making notes, taking pictures and drawing some preliminary conclusions. Once I was introduced myself, he then explained to me what he was doing and the outcome of what he might find. Sean used drone to get the full pictorial view of the roof. Sean was very meticulous in his approach and he worked on the inspection as if he was working on his own home. He is very knowledgeable about things such as the model of the furnace and how long this model would typically last and how well it would perform. During the inspection, he explained the issues in a way that was easy to understand and provided recommendations on how I should go about fixing those issues. Sean is knowledgeable, genuine and a trustworthy advisor. There wasn't a question he didn't answer or consider too overbearing. And as first-time home buyer, I was a nervous wreck and I asked him tons of questions. Sean has probably been doing this for a long time. However, he maintained his passion for the job. He kept me informed throughout the entire process. He prepared and sent me a very detailed report with pictures within a couple of hours after the inspection. Matt did a thorough inspection and I see the value of a good home inspection. However, this company sold my contact information to ALL SORRS of other providers and I now get about 20 daily solicitor emails. It now takes a long time each day to seek for an email that may not be junk - for example a legitimate email from a lender that is not on my contact list.
