Called to have a leaking pipe fixed and was quoted 500.00. These people are out to sell you a warranty. Asked them about adding a socket then was quoted again 1,000.00 because it includes the line coming into the house. Anyway I decided to call safetyvalve and got it done for $30 including the part. If your a home owner and don't want to buy a warranty for everything then sign up for SafetyValve $100 a year and $30 a service call. read more

I hired Total Mechanical Systems for a full HVAC installation and paid a $15,000 deposit based on the assurance that the job would be completed in one day. Instead, what followed was one of the most disorganized and frustrating service experiences I've ever had. The installation was not completed as promised, and I later learned that it had never actually been finished--despite no one informing me. When I returned home and turned on the system, it immediately overheated and shut down. There were clear signs of installation issues, including loud hissing from a connection and unsealed holes in the exterior walls. From that point forward, I had to repeatedly chase the company just to receive basic service. On multiple occasions, I was told I wasn't even on the schedule. There was no proactive communication, no coordination, and no clear ownership of the problem. Over the course of several weeks, I had: 10 separate service visits 8 different technicians Multiple failed attempts to diagnose and fix the issue One installer admitted he had never worked on this type of system before. Another later explained that the refrigerant had been improperly handled during installation, requiring the system to be reset entirely. In addition to the technical failures, the condition of my home after installation was unacceptable. Dog waste was tracked inside and left there, materials were scattered without explanation, and parts of the work were left visibly unfinished. Most concerning, a technician entered my home without permission while I was away and left an exterior door wide open. Even after escalating the issue to management, resolution was slow and required constant follow-up on my part. I effectively had to manage the entire process myself. After investing nearly $28,000 in this system, I was left with weeks of disruption, uncertainty about the system's reliability, and a level of service that fell far below any reasonable expectation. The electrician today, Tim, was great. The company's pricing was price gouging of the most ridiculous type. They wanted $480 to replace a dimmer switch. I have had two previous situations with TMS during which they would quote me a price that was ridiculously over-inflated. I'm insulted and offended by the company's price gouging. read more

Price gouging does not even begin to describe the business model that Total Mechanical Systems deploys. I was quoted $2792.26 for repairs to my gas furnace. Less than 24 hours later, a competing local company quoted me $525 for those same exact repairs. Worst of all, Alex, the tech was on a mission to hard sell me a new boiler at a cost of $15,494.31. The hard sell attempt just kept going and going. Total Mechanical Systems lost all credibility as the sales pitch kept rolling. Thankfully, the competing local company was honest. They suggested a $525 repair instead of a brand new unit Bottom line - Total Mechanical Systems has an abusive pricing scale that is founded on convincing you that your equipment needs to be replaced. They will then quote you astronomical figures. Don't fall for any of it. Do not let this company into your home. Also, Total Mechanical Systems charged me $125 plus tax for a dispatch, travel, and diagnostic fee. I called a competing local company and they came out at no charge. Details like this tell you a lot. Due to the abusive hard sales pitch, I called Total Mechanical Systems and demanded a refund of the diagnostic fee. We woke up to a nightmare, our water heater exploded! I feared the worst so I headed to Google. I desperately searched throughout reviews to pick the best company as im disabled and not working. I called around and Total Mechanicals had the best price to come out. Jason and Jordan came out when expected and got right to it. They explained everything and offered the best deal. They actually waited for me to go do pick ups for the money for the job. They explained everything they were doing before, during and after. They showed us exactly what to do and how to operator the water heater and maintenance. They were so patient and great with my kids as well. Above and beyond customer service. I highly recommend and will definitely be using them again. I plan on signing up for the club which offers perks for other services and discounts. I'm so grateful and relieved. read more

The day the snow storm started my husband and I had our water go out. It's a tankless hot water unit.. code 11 error which means the igniter is out. Called around trying to find an emergency plumber. No one was available. There was no one... Found total mechanical systems and they said oh yeah they could come out. I would be the next day work on our unit and everything. The arrival window was 12:00 to 3:00 and it was around 3:30 that I had to leave for work. They ended up not showing up until 5:00 but that is actually okay. I messaged them to be like. Hey I have to go to work your guy's not showing up so let's move it back.. so he does show up eventually. My husband is there and you know his go-to is. Oh it should be replaced. Here's an estimate for replacing the unit of $8,700... No, I don't work in this industry. I don't know how much hot water heater units go for but I do know that a Ruud hot water heater tankless unit has a 15 to 20 year lifespan and this was installed in 2019.. Red flag.. I then have to call the next day to try to get a quote for just the repair which takes time and everything and I receive a quote that in the description of the services it says don't forget to change description... Which was hilarious but for this part which I found out usually costs between 50 and 100. If you go with the manufacturer website, the actual manufacturer name brand website $50 to $100... The estimate for the repair with the part being $50 to $100 was almost $1,100.. .. I asked for an itemized bill because I'm curious you know if the the part costs x amount of dollars, why is it $1,000 for installation now? Don't get me wrong. I completely wholeheartedly believe in charging your worth. That's ridiculous. In the middle of a blizzard we get quoted $1,100.. We went to Amazon, bought the replacement part for $15. My husband installed it 5 minutes is all it took to install it and 10 minutes later we had hot water... Stay away from this company before anything even happened. The girl had me signing up for the $150 a year plan for them to just come out and service which sounds great because each and every visit would be 125 and you're only paying an extra $25 for the entire year so you don't pay that $125 every time, ... Steer clear... I spent 2 days asking for clarification as to why the bill cost so much and nobody could answer me. We had a boiler installed about 3 years ago. Its been nothing but headaches since the start. They initially plumbed the zones wrong when they left for the night, that was a fun one to figure out why our bedroom wasn't getting heat in the winter. When they came back the next day, I informed them of the mistake and they said they knew...So fast forward a year and we're having issues with our hot water, cold showers in the winter really wakes you up, but not what I paid for. They sent a plumber who said it was the mixing valve to one of our showers and quoted us over $1000 to replace it. I said no, because I knew it wasn't the issue from common sense. Had it replaced anyway to prove it out, but not by them, and guess what, the problem still existed. I'll also add this problem was only an issue in the winter. So fast forward to last winter, same issue. Had a tech. show up and he couldn't figure it out but agreed it was the boiler. Said he had to leave unless I paid an extended diagnostic fee...I had to pay them extra for their tech. to stay, even though I had an appointment. He called someone else, I believe the mfg., who solved the problem over the phone. So, I paid them an extra $250, I believe, to have someone else solve the issue. Ended up being the 3-way valve in the boiler. Now I'm having a flame sensor issue, I'm constantly having to reset the system a few times a week, or when the outside temp. is below 30°. This would have been fine if they kept the original yearly maintenance appointment I made for November back in September/October. They had to reschedule due to customers not having heat and could only keep me on the schedule if it was an emergency. They would have charged me twice, once for the emergency visit, and once for the yearly maintenance visit since they said they wouldn't perform the maintenance during the emergency visit. I said no, keep the December appointment and I'll deal with the issue until then, but I'd be looking elsewhere because I was tired of dealing with this company. I even replied yes to the rescheduled appointment in text message I received from them. Just got a call today that they saw I was having a sensor issue and could be at my house tomorrow...the yearly maintenance appointment was today...what happened to that? Said they couldn't show up until tomorrow and there's nothing they could do about it. Lost it for second and hung up. Stay away, suspect installs, overcharging, techs were good when I had oil not sure what happened in recent years. Customer service has tanked as well. read more

I had to call his boss to explain this BS story in order for the tech to turn on the furnace again which was eventually granted. The next day I called the Google / front desk number, and I finally got my money back after reciting my story to 3 different TMS recipients, but they were all really trying to sell me the BS parts the whole time. A few weeks later I hired a different HVAC company to perform an annual tune-up which was actually done. Anthony worked very well with the town inspector to do everything he could to get my new boilers to pass inspections. He arrived 1.5 hrs before the inspector, stayed for the whole inspection, ran to the store for the necessary parts to carry out the inspector's recommendations and emailed the follow-up pics to the inspector. I caution anyone about hiring this company. We paid them a great deal of money to put a complete heating and cooling system in our home. After a few months one of the units was not cooling the home. We called, they said the could send a tech but it would be $125 diagnostic fee to come look at their own work. We agreed as they had us over a barrel. In the end the tech said that one of the flared copper connections wasn't installed properly and the charge to correct it would be $1500. Great Company read more

BEWAR! Total Mechanical Systems HVAC contractor in Plainville, Connecticut Im filing this complaint about the above company. We recently had Them replace a part in our Air Conditioning system. At the time of discovery our system had a full charge of gas. we know this because their technician showed me on his gauges. After the repair we were told our system was 3 pounds short of gas. This could only have happened when they opened the system to replace the part. I was then told it would be $300 per pound of gas which in our case was $900 added to our bill. In order to get our system back running we allowed it. In addition after adding the 3 pounds we were told our system was still short two pounds. This was a flat out lie because I checked it myself the next day. Almost any company out there will only charge between $40 and $80 per pound so I am filling a small claims since they refuse to own up to their mistakes and ridiculous charge. The owner knows exactly who I am. He was emailed and asked to resolve this issue. NO RESPONS! read more

Horrible. Called to request service done under warranty. First appointment, I took time off work for a 12-4pm window which was a no-show reschedule where I had to call the office multiple times for updates on if they were coming out or not. Next appointment, a service technican came, listened to the issue I was having over a very loud screeching noise coming from my condenser. Completely dismissed the issue, tried to gaslight me that it is normal operation even though it just recently started to occur after many years of ownership and I have neighbors now knocking on my door complaining about how loud it is. Replaced a completely unrelated 20$ capacitor after running some tests and said he would have to come back to put lubricant through the system which only came up after serious pressing for a solution and may or may not work or be covered under warranty. Absolutely unexcusable service, do not recommend, nothing will be resolved and you'll be taken for a ride on multiple service calls. Update: Comment from manager below only led to more frustation and display of downright incompetence. 830 appointment with the service manager and another technician turned into another failed appointment. The technician called out sick, nobody informed us. The service manager bailed on the call, attended other meetings, didnt call us back until 1030 after three calls to the company begging for some kind of update. This was supposed to be the "follow-up" call to makeup for the 2nd rescheduled makeup service call resulting in frustration with no resolution. I have had to take 3 days off if work for this nonsense, making concessions for the latest visit because they wanted to schedule ASAP to make good. I am begging anyone reading this to never use TMS, for anything. I've notified all my family, friends, and all companies I work with at my 9-5 who contract out local and national HVAC jobs to ingnore them after this horrendous experience. If you have a warranty under them, forget it and forget anything when it ends. It might as well be useless. Use another company that isnt inept and doesnt hate their customers for initial installation, your warranty, and any maintenance thereafter. I'd be willing to rethink my poor experience with TMS if they'd waive the service charge for the bogus work theif aloof technician did, but I doubt their customer service department is even that sympathetic or aware to make any pledge and hold to it. Unbelievable that a company like this can exist and do business at any level. Don't believe anything they say. They won't call back on anything, only hold an appointment maybe 1/3 or 1/4 of the time, and when they do show you should expect a battle and a headache to be heard and find resolution. read more

Total Mechanical Systems set a promise date of 11/20/20 to install a furnace and a water heater. They charged me $8005 on 11/19/20 and $3150 on 11/23/20. Today is 11/30/20 and the job has yet to be completed. It has been a whole lot of over promising and under delivering. My advice, DO NOT pay in full until job is completed. Once they get their money, they place you on the back burner. They were very nice and sympathetic before they got paid, once the funds were defected from my account I was dealing with a different animal. read more

I sent in a free water test from Home Depot and was called not long after by this company to come out and give me a free report about my water. I mentioned on the card I sent in with the water and on the phone that I was specifically interested in knowing about the lead in my water. Not once did they tell me this was not possible or not included in the free water test. I was called numerous times by this company to the point where I wanted to block them before they even came out. The day of the appointment the guy came and did not have any results for lead and told me that that would cost $250. I explained I was not willing to spend money right now especially since I wasn't sure what I was responsible for if there were lead pipes and what the town was responsible for. I told him I was going to look into my options with the town since they did notify me that there could be potential lead pipes. I said I would definitely keep their company in mind if I needed to proceed with something related to lead pipes. He then told me he needed to briefly step outside and he would be right back. He was outside for a total of 7 minutes of the 17 minute visit. He made three separate phone calls to three separate people telling them the same exact thing while I waited inside to see when he was going to knock again. I'm not quite sure why he couldn't have done that after he left. At the beginning when he was sharing a couple results with me, not the lead portion, I asked him if I should write the information down. He said no he would give it to me. When he left a minute later after he came in, he didn't give me any results, apologized and quickly left. The whole thing felt like a HUGE SCAM and wasted my time. Although I certainly would have considered them in the future had I needed some sort of work on my pipes, I absolutely will NOT ever call them again and would NEVER recommend them. Saw that they worked with Costco so I called for a water analysis for my home system and wanted to find out if they might have something better or more efficient to handle the hard water from my well. After giving my information to the person on the phone who sets up the appointments I was asked if anyone else resides at my home. When I said my husband also lives here she immediately responded with....he must also be present or we will not come. I asked why and was told whoever lives in the home is financially responsible and must be at the meeting. I told her that I own the home...I am the only one on the deed and I would be the responsible party. Did not matter...if my husband isn't at the meeting they will not come. (Are we back in the 50's?) Although stunned at that remark, I continued setting up an appointment since my husband would probably be here anyway. She then said another weird thing which I asked her repeat because I thought I heard it wrong...."if you buy a system from someone else besides us we will not install it." I never asked that question. After making the appointment and thinking over the conversation I'm cancelling my appointment with them. I own my home worth over $1,000,000, fully paid for, I am the only name on the deed, I have an excellent credit rating and they are making an assumption that I couldn't possibly be trusted to be financially responsible for a bill? Are they assuming that I can't pay? I would label that discrimination and I will not work with such a narrow minded company like this. I would not trust them to put anything in my home. Please do not use this company. The installers were delightful, did their very best..... BUT the salesman and the "management" turned out to be incompetent and disorganized. Absolutely no follow up available, in fact our emails and phone calls go unanswered. The inspector noticed that a ground wire was missing, TMS will not respond. It takes three minutes for the warm water to get to the kitchen sink - which is directly over the on-demand heater and they will not even advise on how this could be improved. For your safety, please do not use this company, they are very unpleasant and do not have the skill to do the job. read more

On May 30, 2019, TMS quoted an outrageously high price ($15,500) that is good for a year. Or buy now and save $3,000 but if you do not buy now the discount price is gone forever. $12,500 was an okay price. Total Mechanical System did not even give us a written quote. TMS should not treat the elderly with high-pressure​ sales tactics​s. I hate the all or nothing unethical sales tactic. I would have hired them if they allowed me to think about the offer for 24 hours. If you interview TMS make sure they are the last company you are interviewing and make sure they give you a written quote. read more

I used Total Mechanical Systems for a simple dishwasher installation two months ago. Although the price was very high ($600), I needed the work done and hired TMS to do it. The plumber who did the installation failed to connect the drain hose (!) so water flooded my subfloor and basement for two weeks before it was discovered. There is now mold growing in my house and the mitigation (quoted by ServPro) and reconstruction costs are breathtaking! Despite numerous calls and emails, TMS has failed miserably in correcting their error and the damage to my home. Scott Way (plumbing manager) and Andre LaFrancoise (general manager) are like puffs of smoke that nobody can seem to find to rectify this issue. Do NOT use this company! Three days later they said they needed to come back free of charge with what appeared to be their salesman and now system unsafe to operate. We haven't had heat in the house for few days now... called TMS tech came walked around suggested few things that "might" work doesn't know for sure ... and left . We still have no heat he didn't fix ANYTHING. Just waisted everyone's time. Called TMS customer service and complained that nothing has been fixed . All they suggested was to replace the thermostat but they again don't guarantee that it will solve the problem, and quoted me for 800$ for thermostat service replacement. So basically I would pay 800$ but there is not guarantee if it will fix the issue. This isn't how to run business it's almost like a scam job they are doing, pay us money maybe it will work maybe not . I don't recommend them. read more

TMS, the only reason why I'm not giving zero star is because there is no option for it. This company shouldn't be doing business concerning heating systems, unless you want to be left in an icebox with no help. I met this company through Home Depot after purchasing a home for my family and needed a new system that works for both heat and cooling. The sales guy that came to our house was a okay at first but turned out to be a liar and a jerk. He proceeded to tell us that he has the system at his house and it worked great for him, also that he never needed a backup heat source. We had the old radiator/steam system for heat and I asked him if there would be a problem to remove them and convert to their split system because I have two young kids under 5 and the radiators have possibly of lead paint, also they get very hot. He told me it's fine I can remove them. We have a 2000+ square feet home and downstairs (kitchen, living, dining and office) he told us the 24 should work perfect for our heat, we agreed and they later called and told us the other customers have been complaining that the 24 is overheating so they will give us a 12 instead. I kept asking if this will be good for this area given the size and even the superior on the day of install told me I'm fine. Now that the old radiators are gone and we tried using this unit it doesn't work. Downstairs is an icebox. We reached out and they kept giving us the run around and then told us to reach out to Home Depot. After about a month of back and forth they told us that we can go back to the initial size 24 that we ordered but this would void our warranty. I even asked them if we couldn't get another 12 on the other side of the room to balance everything out and they kept telling us that they would have to remove the warranty. So they don't want to be responsible anymore for this unit if we go that route. How can you sell someone a product that suppose to work and after it doesn't you want to go back to our initial but have to remove the warranty. I seriously wonder if you guys have a family and if the shoes was on the other foot what you would do. Because of this company we can't move in the house and have to be waiting for warm weather because it is so cold. My youngest is 5 months and I explained all this but this company seem not to care about nothing other than profiting off hard working people trying to survive. I even went as far as to tell the guy to come and remove the stuff from our house and he told me "that's not how it works, and that my wife didn't read the fine print". What kind of bs is that. Back in August I contracted with them for their complete furnace cleaning, winter prep, plumbing inspection etc. I paid in full to get their special price. Because they had two emergencies, they couldn't schedule for a month, and promised I would be first on their list. Two days before the scheduled appointment, another call and another emergency pushed the appointment forward to October. The day before this scheduled appointment another call with three emergencies! I said "no", just refund my money and I'll get someone who actually can be relied upon. It's quite obvious they don't have enough personnel to handle their bookings. I had signed up for their annual service program earlier in the year but called to schedule the inspection in August for September. Due to a required doctors appointment on the day their inspection was to be performed I canceled the appointment at which time they requested from me a suitable reschedule date to which I responded but never heard back from them so i waited a week or so no response ..several more emails to them were ignored finally I requested a refund no response again. I then sent them another email saying this would be my final request to which they said they would process a refund again nothing..last week or so I emailed them again asking them for the status of my refund as they had said last month it would take 7-10 now if was like 17 days nothing....they confirmed that they had put the request through on Oct 11byt would try again and again nothing ......I have no alternativ other than reporting them to the BBB for starters..something pretty simple elevated to more than it should have been....I should have read these reviews prior just a very difficult company to work with!....all the reviews say pretty much the same service is ok but poor or worse communication and total disrespect of their customers by CS dept. read more

So here's my horror story with these people. My best friend had No issue at all when system was installed in 2017. Getting them to do the yearly maintenance and keeping set appointments was tough but she did always get it. Now 2023 comes along and she ask me again to be there when they come to let them in and somebodies there if they need anything. Plus the system was down 100% and she needed to know why it wasn't and to have it fixed. When the tech showed up he started with the outside part. He was polite and said he would figure it out. I hung outside w him as he was doing the inspection just Making small talk. He shows me one of the circuit boards was burnt And that was the problem. Makes sense. He said he needed to inspect the compressor to make sure that was ok and the other 2 circuit boards also. At this point he states he thinks it was caused by rodents. Im still outside but added this whole time we are talking I'm about 20 ft away at the outside table. I didn't want to seem like I was breathing down his neck. He tells me all 3 boards are burnt and it was 100% done by rodents and sadly wouldn't be covered under warranty. I asked how he knew it was rodents and he said oh the wires are chewed. As I started walking over he start putting the covers back on so I didn't see the "chewed wires" At the time it wasn't even a thought to push to see them. He was so nice I believed him. Well as soon as it was all closed up he immediately starting pushing to sign to purchase a new one And set up an installation date as this was their slow time of year. If my friend waited she could wait months to get it done. 3 times he asked if she said yes as I had called and texted her and was waiting for a response. I finally told him she was on a tight budget and I doubt she would be agreeing to anything without reading finance terms and thinking about. So he leaves. Me and her discuss it and I tell her after he left I looked at all wires and they looked perfect to me that she should have a second person come look for rodent issues. She did and There was NONE!!!! So warranty place sent a new company out to see if it would be covered and new place informs her 100% no rodent issues and all that is needed is new circuit boards and it will be 100% perfect. Warranty will cover it.- SHAME ON THESE PEOPLE!!!! Trying to scam my friend out of $6,000!!! So glad my gut told me something wasn't right!!! He was too pushy. Please do not deal with these people and always get two quotes for any home repairs or additions if neither makes sense get a third one!! We had a 3 head Carrier mini split system installed last year. I thought the installer did a great job and was very professional. The 2 wall mounted heads work properly in cooling mode but the ducted head in the attic has issues. They came out twice to look at it and moved the thermostat which did not fix the issue. Now they just ignore my calls. The system supposedly will heat down to -22 but I noticed that it constantly has to defrost itself so I stopped using it until it warms up. I think the salesman oversold this system and I would have been better off with a central air setup. read more

Total Mechanical Systems is an amazing company to work with! We had our heat pump stop working over the weekend and, after calling 3 other places, TMS was able to get a tech out to look at it the same day. They quickly diagnosed the problem and gave me the options on how to resolve it. They were able to get the part in and fix it within 2 days. I worked with Ashely over the phone and she was so helpful! She was able to answer all my questions and provide me with all the information I needed. She would promptly return my calls and kept me updated on the process. Stanley, the technician that came out, was very professional. He wore his mask and protective gear when coming through the house, and was able to get the job done in a timely manner, even working in this crazy heat. When I lived in CT, TMS came and serviced our HVAC every year. Easy to get an appointment, friendly techs, etc. Fast-forward a couple of years, and they have really turned a corner -- for the worse. We had tenants in our condo, who called and said the thermostat was on the fritz. I made an appointment with TMS, and they cancelled last-minute. Then when they finally came out, they assured me everything was in working order (for $300). We decided to sell the house, so needed to conduct service on the HVAC/gas. TMS said they were booked until September, so I had another company come out. The circuit board was fried (lightning strike, yikes), and the tech from Company #2 said there was "no way" that the system was working when the TMS tech said it was. I tried calling TMS to get my $ back, but they blew me off. My only recourse is to write a bad review, and warn others away. I feel like I got scammed. read more

I was making an appointment for my central air an talking to the receptionist was very difficult. The receptionist was hard to understand like she was eating lunch an gave attitude when I asked to repeat. The technician was late an seemed angry an complaining about his earlier service call to me. When he was explaining what he did an I asked questions about the job he done he acted like I knew what he did. I was highly disappointed with the service an response I received. read more

Finally, after many phone calls, they came and corrected the mistake the town inspector suggested for them to fix before he approves the work, I can now leave this review. First I would like to take the blame for calling and even signing a contract with this company. If you are considering doing the same, don't. Just know that they will send a salesman to your house, who will sit at your dining table, be cordial and friendly but who will not follow through on their word. I'm still waiting on a phone call from him. I spoke with his supervisor, but he wasn't the one I met, nor who sat at my table and sold me a bunch of false goods. We have never purchased an HVAC system before and trusted the salesman to deliver. That was my second mistake. We were told they have a furnace in the back of the warehouse, someone ordered it, but they canceled so they're able to offer it to us at a discount and it can be installed sooner than their 4-week window. All of which made us feel comforted. The price seemed a little high at the time but what did we know, though we did do some research, guess we didn't do enough. A second company came to give us a quote the next day, a different experience. They had a temporary replacement fan for our furnace that they would install that day if we signed with them. To us, their offer seemed much better. They provided numerous different quotes to fit our needs. But because we had already got approved and signed a contract with this company, we couldn't get approved for the second one. We called the salesman from TMS, and he kept giving us the run around about calling us back. So much so we missed our 3-day window to cancel. Finally, I got tired of waiting for a return call and spoke with his supervisor. After explaining to him the situation and my displeasure, he offered to look at the quote from the other company to see what they can do to make us happy. He called back and stated how much longer they have been in business vs the other company, and how long their warranty is better than the other company, all of which don't mean squat to a family who just wants their furnace and A/C working. They ended up giving us a high quote to give us the same as the second company. So we assumed, we would still be able to have our HVAC system installed sooner. Boy was we wrong. Now all of a sudden, everything is on backorder. They wouldn't come out to just install the furnace or do something for us since we don't have a working fan in the middle of the summer. There was no clear timetable given for delivery or installation. I had to keep calling their installation department myself to get updates and every time it was the same thing, the run-around. Finally, they come to install and it was a crap show. The only bright spot was one of the electricians who installed the system was very pleasant, cordial, and knowable. The second electrician had an accident bumping his head, leaving blood on my concrete floor. The plumber was a disaster. He moved our pipes under our sink without even telling us beforehand. The work looked like a rush job, so much so, when we had a professional plumber out to fix what he messed up, he was amazed at the quality of work done. It took him longer to fix his mistakes. Not to mention someone didn't measure properly outside so now we have a patched hole in our siding where I guess they attempted to run the PVC pipe. Now that they partnered with JayKom plumbing, who I hired to fix their original plumbing work, I have to rely on a total different HVAC system and plumbing company because I refuse to do business with TMS again. But I'm sure I'll get a lengthy response from the owner here defending this level of work, but missing the point. read more

TMS installed a mini-split air conditioning system in my 1,500 square foot cape. The installers were wonderful and professional, quick and efficient. Unfortunately, the system that we were sold was completely ineffective for our needs. At the end, I feel that the salesperson ripped us off. We were told upfront that the system would be no problem at cooling our house down. Yes, there would be rooms warmer than others, but we understood that. We were told there would be no worries about this doing the job, and that it would "blow away" the window units we were replacing. This was not the case. After discussing our disappointment with the sales person, he changed his tune, condescendingly telling me to "be realistic," and that I can't expect better performance in a cape. Well, why didn't you explain that upfront and give us multiple options and explain the potential risks? Simple: he wanted to make a sale, and did not perform his due diligence. And ultimately, there was a bait and switch. He said we needed a 24,000 BTU unit, but changed it to 18,000 to keep the cost down, assuring me that it would work. For starters we did not actually get work done by total mechanical systems. So I'm not rating their work. We sat with the salesman for 2 1/2 hours listening to his spiel about how wonderful the products are and everything they do and guarantees and warranties and hypotheticals etc. etc. I finally asked him please just let us see the product and give us a price at this point I was exhausted and I couldn't listen to this any longer. FINALLY they quoted us most ridiculous amount to have our bath tub removed and reinstalled with a new one. Nobody in their right mind would pay 16K to have a tub removed and reinstalled. I don't doubt that they have a great product but that is the most ridiculous estimate I have ever heard. My advice to the company would be to be a little more observant to the people you're talking to when they literally are falling asleep stop talking and get to the point. read more
