On the day of my appointment, while I was already on my way to the salon, I received a call from the receptionist informing me that my appointment was being canceled last minute. Instead of offering a solution or urgency in rebooking, I was told it would be another two weeks before I could be scheduled for the same service. The only compromise offered was to split the services -- haircut one week, color the next -- which was not ideal, nor what I had booked or planned for. It was implied that the cancellation was due to my stylist calling out, and while no direct explanation was given, it happened to be the day after what I believe was their birthday -- which raises questions about the level of professionalism and planning. If something unavoidable came up, I would have appreciated an honest explanation and a sincere effort to accommodate me promptly--especially since I had already made arrangements and was en route. At the time I was working 70 hours a week and I specifically took time out of my workday to go do this seeing as I had no free time. To make matters worse, I later received an automated confirmation for an appointment I never scheduled or approved, which only added to the confusion. The stylists here are also the owners, Patrick and Kevin, which makes the lack of communication and client care even more frustrating. As business owners, I expected better accountability, professionalism, and respect for clients' time. Unfortunately, this experience left a bad taste in my mouth, and I won't be returning.

With someone as indecisive as myself she makes it easy to achieve the look and feel I want but cannot always express so simply. Whether I'm in for a simple trim or a complete transformation including length and color, she makes sure I leave happy and with increased knowledge as to what products she recommends and how to style and keep my locks healthy and looking fabulous. It's always been a challenge to maintain my hair as it's so easy to whip out the old faithful bun routine, but with her help I now love getting into her chair and have had fun experimenting with different hairstyles and techniques utilizing her guidance and expertise. I've recommended her to my friends and family, and those who have taken my word left the salon more than satisfied with the results. As long as Ashley remains in Jax, I shall be her faithful client! I'm really disappointed with my experience at Haute Headz. I was excited to try a new stylist after…read moreseeing her work on IG (Avery) and was prepared to spend more than I normally would, but I walked out feeling frustrated and like I didn't get what I paid for--especially at a $300 price point. The appointment started off uncomfortably when the stylist next to me overheard what I do for a living (title insurance) and commented that I work in "legalized extortion." Not only was this wildly inappropriate, it made me feel awkward and judged right from the start. I had a thorough consultation with my stylist and we agreed that to achieve the look I wanted--light ends contrasting with a deeper base--I'd need a full lightening service rather than the partial that was originally quoted. I agreed to the upcharge with the expectation that I'd get the desired result. Unfortunately, that's not what I got. Instead of a smooth, dimensional color, I ended up with chunky highlights, a grown-out root look, and ends that are still noticeably darker than the base. It looks like a rushed job and not at all the intentional contrast we discussed. To make things worse, there are two very obvious bright white spots at my hairline where toner was completely missed. I brought this up when I got home and noticed it (Avery really should have caught them when washing or styling my hair, they're quite obvious) and the stylist did offer to fix it, but her availability didn't line up with mine. I explained that I couldn't take another hour and a half off work to come in during the week, given the 30+ minute drive each way, which she knows because we live near each other. Rather than showing understanding, she got defensive and told me it wouldn't take long and that I should reach out to the salon owner if I had further concerns. The one bright spot in all this (well, other than the 2 in my hairline) is that the haircut turned out well, which is the only reason I'm giving two stars instead of one. But overall, this was a frustrating experience with results I'm unhappy with and a lack of professionalism I didn't expect from a salon at this price point. I won't be returning.

She was able to get me in early on a Saturday morning and did such a great job! She is personable, funny, and makes the time fly by. The salon is simple but pretty, and all the women are sweet and personable. They have snacks, coffee, soda, and water for refreshments. There were a constant stream of people coming in for a variety of services, so it was apparent they do well for themselves. When you check in on Yelp, you get $10 off your service! The price of a haircut and color actually ended up being less than what I normally pay, so that was a pleasant and pleasing surprise. Thank you Amanda and Salon Cashmere for such a wonderful job.
