I've had 2 prior spine surgeries which were laminectomy and laminectomy revision. I was told my only option after that would be a fusion. So I switched health insurance and did extensive research and Dr. Melikian was on the list of top neurosurgeons. I made an appointment to see Dr. Melikian who ordered multiple MRIs. After careful review Dr. Melikian recommended a microdiscectomy which ended up being the best decision for my back. The pain I was feeling daily is gone and the recovery has been much easier than previous surgeries. My only gripe, generally speaking--not specific to his practice--is that stem cell treatments are exorbitantly priced and not covered by insurance. Expect to pay anywhere from $6,000 to $9,000 or more for various stem cell treatment options. So, not a go just yet until I figure out how to come up with the money, I will have to live with my back pain.

Some weeks, I was popping antibiotics like candy. I was forbidden to exercise, as that made the problem worse. I finally consulted Dr. Khosroabadi, and he diagnosed the cause very quickly. A bone was pushing through my foot, but only when I walked. All the other doctors had my foot x-rayed, but of course they tell you to not move, so the cause remained invisible. The minimally invasive surgery lasted a total of 20-25 minutes, including the time for the anesthetic to work. It has been several years, I have been able to walk and exercise, and the pain and infections have never reoccurred. Wonderful doctor, great staff!
