This place is hoping! Grand opening and great deals! We found almost everything we wanted except for one of my favorite wines, however they said they would try to get it on the shelf! If you get 6 bottles of wine you get 10% off, great deal if you know what you like (said they will always have this deal available) I was surprised with how nice it is inside. Most large alcohol stops do not look as high end as this was! They also have a room towards the back that they do tastings etc. I will be signing up for some classes. For my wine, beer and alcohol, I will be heading here. We compared prices with prices of a few other large stores and we found the best prices here, don't miss out! This is a good store. First, the selection is fantastic. They have hundreds if not thousands of different wines, beers and liquors. The even have a humidor room for cigars. I asked if they had a particular wine, and they didn't, but the offered to get it for me. The interior of the store is very nice, a lot more enticing than Friar Tuck's. The thing that I thought was cool is their create your own six pack. Friar Tucks has this, but you can only choose from about 150 beers; this costs $10. At Total Wine, you can pick any beer in the store. Awesome! The down side is depending on what beers you pick, it could cost more; my 6 pack cost $13. I have to give them credit though - none of the beers in my customized 6 pack were available in the create your own 6 pack at Friar Tucks. Despite this, their other prices appeared competitive. I don't buy wine so this is a review about their beer selection. They used to have a very good selection of Mexican beers, but in the last few months it has gone down hill. They used to carry a variety pack of Mexican beers but no more. The rest of the beer selection is OK but nothing special. I've checked out with a couple of friendly clerks but most are just going through the motions. The rest of the staff that I see walking around don't seem friendly at all, as a matter of fact they look really snooty. I just tried Randall's on Manchester, not that far away from this store and they had a much better selection and the people were nicer. read more

Horrible planning and communication. Walked around looking for a present for my dad with my sister for 30 mins when we finally were checking out. asked for our IDs, and I am a minor. They call in the manager and say I can't be in the store. I don't know, maybe tell me that when I walk in so I don't waste 30 mins of my time!! So stupid. Then my sister couldn't even get the present even if I left. Horrible. read more

My favorite place to go before the weekend. We can get everything we need in one place. The one thing I could say is that I wish they would expand their sake collection. Other than that, I love the build your own six pack option. I love all of the different size bottles I can get. I travel often and the easiest way for me to carry al alcohol is with minis and they have a vast selection for me. They have a fantastic wine selection and in the future I would be interesting attending one of the classes that they hold in that very pretty room located in the back of the store. Every employee I've spoken with seems to be very friendly and helpful. I began coming here when I was 21 years old, and they have an interesting policy for younger buyers. The employees are on some kind of rewards system if they check out younger buyers, as the manager has to come over and verify your ID if you're under I believe 25? It is kind of a pain in the butt to the buyer and I feel like I'm being objectified since people are being rewarded for serving me based on my age. I will still continue to come here as they are the biggest and closest store in my area, not to mention they have nearly everything I could ask for. read more

Not a bad store, but definitely feels like a Walmart when it comes to customer service. For their selection I thought I'd be fair and give two stars. They get a poor review for the one time my fiancé and I went to purchase some wine. I had my ID but she'd left hers in the car as she didn't think she would need it. They refused to serve us as she couldn't produce her ID. We're in our 30s and are obviously of age, but the 20-something manager felt the need to exert her awesome power and send us home empty handed. I enjoy coming here. They have a lot to choose from and offer out of season beer clearances at good discounts as well, which you don't see at many places. They have a reward program, but I don't know yet if it is much of a benefit. My only request is that they put one in the South County area! read more

First trip was last wed sept 23 and was so excited because they had my sister's favorite wine for a great price. We opened it tonight (sept 26...three days later). The cork was green And slimy. We both tasted it and it was clearly bad. I am going back to return it but this does not bode well. Balabans has equally great prices and I have never had a rotted wine. read more

Terrible customer service, I am 22 years old and when I go to the check out with my items, they wouldn't accept my I.D. The lady was very unfriendly and questioned me. This being very embarrassing, because all of the customers in line she called a manager up front and the manager proceeded to question every part of my license. Called this store asking if they had Bailey's Pumpkin Spice in stock. The woman who answered put me on hold, "checked" and told me it was there. A few hours later after work I drove there to buy a bottle. I could not locate it where the other Bailey's were. After contacting an employee to inquire, he looked it up and told me he was sorry, I was misinformed, and it would be in Wednesday 9/28/16. I came back on Thursday 9/29/16, they still did not have it and an employee told me he had no idea when it would be in. I made two special trips to this store based on employees telling me something was in stock, only to find it not in stock. Very disappointing! read more

The last thing West County needs (or St. Louis City for that matter) is an oversized, pedestrian wine, beer and spirits superstore. What I found in the newly opened Town & Country store was smoke and mirrors. Prices were very high relative to The Wine & Cheese Place and in many cases even Schnuck's. Yes, the wine selection was enormous. BUT it was not exciting. The selection omitted the cutting edge wineries available at a half dozen other wine shops in St. Louis. In short, the wine selection was boring and worst of all, Total Wine embarrassingly pats itself on the back for having a dull and lackluster wine selection. Wine shops like Balaban's, The Wine Merchant and St. Louis Wine Market kill Total Wine in every aspect of wine selection. On several occasions, I wandered the aisles appearing confused and needing help. Not one salesperson recognized my need to be helped. Total Wine sorely needs a lesson in customer oriented salesmanship. Spirits prices were very high. Randall's and Lukas are way less expensive with just as good a selection. It does not take much talent for a retailer to buy Beer and Spirits. The distributor reps do that for them. Wine is the real challenge and Total Wine needs to eat some Wheaties (or should I say "Total") as they have a long way to go to compete in the savvy St. Louis wine market. I think it is sad that so many uninformed consumers have fallen for the Total Wine bait. Support your local wine, beer and spirits store - they do a much better job and you will receive knowledgeable and informed service. read more
