The point of this is that they got all the alc you can desire. Basically a candy shop for responsible adults, alright. There be times when I get that Caymus wine bottle too, but they recommend usually something else and cheaper, but I'm okay, thank you though boss. The other day I bought two tequila bottles for my friend's birthday coming up this weekend. If you have a membership, they always give away cool coupons that you can use. Some stuff like $5 or buy three alc and get one free. I like coming here than liquor stores. It's clean and the service here is super friendly. Never a bad time here. I usually shop at the Total Wine in Brea, but I was in the Huntington Beach area and decided to stop by this location. When I first walked in, I was looking for a specific bottle and asked an employee for help. She was standing on her phone, and when I asked where the bottle was, she simply replied, "It's in the back." Since I wasn't familiar with the layout of this store, I asked if she could tell me where in the back--left, right, straight ahead, etc. She just repeated, "I said it's in the back." As a first-time customer at this location, that wasn't very helpful and honestly made me feel dismissed. Thankfully, the rest of my experience was completely different. I found another employee near the refrigerator section, and he was amazing. He walked me directly to what I was looking for, helped me grab everything I needed, and even carried it up to the register for me. He was incredibly friendly, made me laugh, and genuinely turned my shopping experience around. The cashier was also super sweet, and the manager who was there took the time to ask how my day was going and chatted with me for a bit. Those interactions made the store feel much more welcoming. While my first interaction wasn't great, everyone else I encountered provided excellent customer service and really made up for it. I hope the employee I first spoke with can be reminded that a little kindness and direction go a long way, especially for customers who aren't familiar with the store. read more

Came here with my fiancée to grab a bottle of gin and scotch whiskey and one their associates by the name of "Bo" talked to us about certain spirits, which ones he likes and the ones he didn't. His knowledge of alcohol is very impressive not to mention how personable he is. I ended up spending about $300 all together but definitely worth it. Bo is the kind of guy I'd love to sit and chat and have a drink with. I was craving a Negroni, the iconic cocktail that the late Anthony Bourdain recommended. I had searched the internet, and google said that I could find a ready-to-drink bottle by Cinzano at this store. The parking was easy and it was not crowded on a Sunday afternoon. We were greeted immediately by a friendly man with a headset. I requested the object of my search and he lead us into the depths of the cleanest most well-stocked liquor store I have ever imagined. He was apologetic when they did not stock the Negroni, but luckily they did have all of the ingredients. I located the Campari, they had an amazing selection of gin, and the sweet vermouth was a great price! Needless to say, I had a lovely afternoon. If you are able to avoid the Huntington Total wine I would encourage it. I came by for a pick up order and had a bad experience with the gentleman standing at customer service. I wish I got his name but he was maybe in his late 40's, heavier set, and looked like he could be a manager. The way he behaved exemplifies he has zero interest in customer service, quite frankly I found his behavior to be rude. The only reason I gave 3 stars was because the younger blond gentleman at order pickup was a pleasure to interact with and he's the only reason this location doesn't get a 1/5. I primarily shop at the Tustin Marketplace location and my secondary location is Newport. I highly recommend those two locations, even with my quick trips they find a way to make you feel like a valued guest and that is what makes a customer loyal. read more

I know this is a business so it needs sales, but I've been here quiet a bit and can now tell that all of the workers "recommendations" are all based on getting sales/commission and selling what their distributors want not what is actually good. I have had at least 4 different time where they come up to me they ask if I need help, I ask how a bottle is that I have researched and want and they immediately say no and steer me towards another bottle and try to push really hard on how good it is and how popular it is. On all 4 occasions I end up listening to them and regretting it. Yesterday I was there and got asked if I needed help. I ask for a single malt whisky in the $150 range and the worker pointed me to a bottle that said "blend" in big letters on it and started his push for how great it is. I ask "this is a single malt" he said yes it is, I said "are you sure" he continued to say yes and sell. Doesn't seem like they care and just want the sale. I'll be going to Bevmo from now on. read more

She is yelling at a guy who is clearly over 21 about not having his ID on him, but the young lady he was with did and could easily purchase it. That is ridiculous that you yell at your customers and then have the nerve to think they will come in again. One of the worst examples of customer service I have seen in a long time. My boyfriend and I came to buy some drinks for our weekend getaway. The associates are dressed so professionally and they are so kind. I felt so upscale being there. The options they have for everything are endless!! I had a silly question regarding the build your own 6-pack and the gentleman who assisted me was so nice and patiently explained how it works, I could never hence why I don't work in customer service. We went for beer and built our own 6-pack. It took us a while to pick beer because there are so many options but it was fun looking through them. It also helps that there's descriptions for them. Once we finally picked our beer we walked around the store and even sampled beer, wine, and champagne. The vendors were approachable and explained the drinks they were giving us. I'm a late comer to Total Wine. I used to rarely buy liquor (gifts), and when I did it was the local non-chain place. However, since the local place closed, COVID hit, and a couple of b'ness associates gave me shit for not bringing nice wine to our periodic golf/nice dinner outings, I come to Total Wine more frequently. Fri nights at the dog park have become themed drinking nights. I have learned whats in a moscow mule, vodka martini, old fashioned, highball, margarita, bloody mary, et al. We have also had wine nights, and Total Wine has a huge selection at every price point. I bought a bottle of Silver Oak and Caymus for a special dinner vs paying the marked up price at a restaurant that is often 2.5x retail. Its much less expensive to bring your own and pay corkage. One night it was Japanese whisky night so I grabbed a bottle of Suntory to make highballs and my preferred way of drinking most good liquor, sip it with a block of ice (except tequila, that I prefer neat). The associate assisting me was super helpful. Remember to bring your own bag when you leave bc Total Wine follows the same rules as the market regarding plastic bags. Total Wine has become my go to place when I need high quality alcohol for my outings. The prices are reasonable, the selection is fantastic, and the service is very good. One facial haired guy did begrudgingly point me towards the another area I was looking for: took me longer to find him than the aisle at the far end of the store. Unfortunately, they no longer carried El Cristiano tequila, but we were lucky enough to find Brian, a sales associate who was quite knowledgable about tequila and rum. Brian was extremely helpful, friendly, and explained so much to us about tequila and rum. For such a young man, he seemed to know a lot about spirits. We had come in to check the price on one bottle of high-end tequila, but thanks to Brian, we left with a different high-end tequila, a high-end rum and a high-end bourbon whisky. Som of the staff is great but beware some only recommend brands that are part of their spirits direct program. These bottles are marked with yellow price tags as "spirits direct" ...sales staff are encouraged to push these as these brands pay to be part of a special total wine program. So take any recommendation of a spirits brand with a grain of salt. In fact, I would suggest challenging them to recommend one that's not part of spirits so you have a true non-biased option. read more

This time, i want to take the time to thank Kyle who helped us find the perfect Japanese whiskey since they didn't have any stock of Hibiki. The selection here is pretty extensive but they never seem to carry the spirits we are looking for unfortunately. My husband is always on he search for a specific port wine that we tried in Temecula, but they don't carry it here. Sometimes it's kind of hard to wrangle someone down for help here--we got passed by 2 people fore we finally got the attention of a 3rd and she wasn't knowledgeable about the store. We got a 4th guy who really knew his stuff, but again...that was 4th time's the charm! We went the day before Father's Day so there were a ton of people in the store and in line. The line moved quickly though. Our membership account never pulls up either so that's been annoying for the last 3 visit!
