Total Wine & More is an absolute paradise for anyone who loves drinks (and honestly, who doesn't?). I walked in and immediately felt like a kid in the world's best candy store -- except the candy is thousands of wines from every corner of the planet. Want a crisp Sancerre from the Loire Valley? Got it. Looking for a cult California Cab that's almost impossible to find? They've got multiple vintages on the shelf. Rare allocations, library wines, small-production gems -- somehow they have them all, and at prices that usually beat everyone else. The beer aisle is just ridiculous (in the best way). Huge craft beer selection, imports from Belgium, Germany, Japan, you name it, plus all the local favorites and seasonals. The spirits section is equally insane -- top-shelf bourbon, hard-to-find Japanese whisky, mezcal, rum, gin, you could spend an hour just staring at the options. And then there's the humidor. Beautiful walk-in with a terrific selection of premium cigars -- from everyday favorites to limited editions that made me do a double-take. The staff is genuinely knowledgeable and friendly without being pushy. They'll happily geek out with you about natural wines or help you pick the perfect bottle for a gift in two minutes flat. We are not drinkers, but we are collectors of spirits. We've been meaning to stock up and Total Wine seems to carry just about everything on our list. This location is on E. Colonial & Primrose St. There is a parking lot. It was busy this afternoon but it could be due to the holiday season. It's a big place, large selection & alright prices. We noticed a couple of places around the store where samples were being handed out. I've been searching for Ron Del Barrilito and they have it. They also carry the Dominican brand of Chinola (passion fruit) drink & can't wait to try it. They carry wines, roses, champagne, sparkling wine, liqueur, rum, whiskey, bourbon, tequila, vodka, beers, THC infused drinks, mocktails & ready made cocktails. They have it all. Great spot for your alcohol needs! The have a huge section of wine, kegs of all varieties and just about any spirit you could want. They consistently have great prices as well! Staff is always available and willing to help when you need it and they offer discounts and other deals like a free gift bag once a month if you join their rewards club. Their craft beer selection used to be fantastic but it has gotten a lot smaller and less exciting over the years. Total Wine & More is just a staple. I tend to go here far more often than other wine and liquor-based stores. They usually have a good selection, and price points are reasonable, except for brands/bottles that cost more, of course. If you have the membership, then you get pretty decent deals and freebies from time to time. Also, they have a ton of coupons - especially if you have the app on your phone. Another great thing they offer is tastings and tasting classes. On any given day, you can walk in and taste anything from wines to other spirits. Or you can sign up and pay for a more curated tasting class, which they offer at various points throughout any given month. Most recently, I went to one of their tasting classes to try out their mezcals and tequilas. I've been looking forward to trying out a tasting class, so I was excited to kick it off with a liquor I tend to drink a lot: tequila. Now, I am not the biggest fan of mezcals, but I was hopeful that maybe this tasting class would open up my horizons. Needless to say, I still don't like mezcal; however, I did leave discovering new anejos that I liked. A few of the selections that we sampled that I enjoyed included 3 Amigos Reposado, Suavecito Anejo, and the El Padrino Anejo Cristalino. I also enjoy the dessert tequila - the name of it is escaping me at the moment. For a tasting class, I learned a ton about tequila that I had not known prior. So, I recommend taking one of their tasting classes as they are quite informative. Also, for a reasonable price point, you get to sample quite a bit as well as learn about those liquors (or wines), the regions they come from, the process used to create them, and you also get to learn about ways to prepare them (recipes were shared). So, you are truly getting a great bang for your buck. The staff are super friendly and knowledgeable. They also allow you to taste anything you missed if you arrive late. All in all, it was a great experience. I'll be going to more of their tasting classes in the future. read more

Yesterday, my husband and I did a whiskey tasting at the colonial location. The name of the class was the Art of the Cast, and it was fantastic. The class consisted of about 20 people. We sampled 11 high end scotch brands. The price range of the scotch we sample range from $200 to $999. The store manager David did a presentation on each of the brands we were sampling, gave us a little history of the distillery, the region and how each scotch was made. Then we got to sample each of them. They also had some light bites, which was great to help with all the drinking. Total Wine puts on these type of tasting classes monthly so check out their calendar. They have classes on wines, champagne, scotch, whiskey etc. we have been to several of these classes and they are excellent and a great way to spend a few hours getting a little bit of education about the spirits you enjoy and having a good time. Stopped in for a quick browse this afternoon however I actually bought a couple bottles of wine. Which honestly at this point it doesn't surprise me anymore - I did get the jam jar sweet red blend haven't had it yet. I picked up a wine from France it said it supposed to be good with fish or a light pasta. I picked up a six pack of the lemon lavender spritzer beverages, and I also picked up a can of root beer flavored seltzer. I have had the Coca-Cola flavored one but not the root beer one yet. I will say I like this total wine better than the one by mall of millennia I feel like they put out new bottles on a weekly basis which is always good. Usually, I'd go here to peruse their selection of whiskey and tequila, but lately have been loving their single beer selection a lot more. I also started browsing their wines and they have a great collection as well. The store is huge and should meet most of your alcohol purchasing needs! They've started doing samples again which is nice, and hopefully they do more and more as we all manage to live in a post-2020 world. Hopefully, they start offering classes again too. Getting help is still kind of difficult as staff typically ignores you and doesn't seem overly helpful when you do finally grab their attention. It's not unusual for us to stop here on our way from one brewery or another just to see what else outside of the box they may have available. I went to this location as I had been here previously, but it's been almost a year since I returned. (It's a drive for me so my wine purchases are done closer to home.) I was very happy to return as this location has one of my favorite Chardonnays, the Kim Crawford UnOaked Chardonnay. This five star review is mainly due to this store's representative, Manny. He asked me if he could help me find a particular wine, I mentioned Kim Crawford and we went to the bin, but it was empty. He checked his device, found that there was still one case in the store and immediately got a ladder to retrieve the bottles. Naturally, this case was under several other boxes so Manny had to do some redistributing to get to the Kim Crawford case to retrieve 2 bottles for me. We then discussed red wines. He checked for availability and he disclosed that an old favorite of mine was no longer being distributed. He then made some suggestions based on a number of wines I mentioned as other favorites. Well, Manny's recommendation of the Harvester Cabernet Sauvignon was 5 stars! It is produced and bottled by Austin Hope Winery (another of my favs), but at a more reasonable price. The taste was exquisite and I plan to return later this week for 2 more bottles. Manny stated that if I wasn't happy with a wine, to bring back the remaining portion and they would provide a refund. Now that is exceptional customer service. I don't see doing that myself, but it is a nice gesture if a recommendation is not to your liking. Finally, I also want to mention this store is well stocked with excellent wine selections, is clean and has a staff as accommodating and friendly as Manny. I definitely will be back more often. I highly recommend this store (and Manny for recommendations, if needed) for any holiday wine purchases for yourself or as gifts! read more

I stopped in on a late Tuesday morning to purchase some beer, wine, and spirits to take with me on my visit with family in Atlanta for the Easter holiday. My nieces' husbands love craft beer, so I always try to take up some local craft beer for them to try. I decided to take up some Ivanhoe Park, since they liked it on my last visit. I picked up a six pack of the blonde ale, and one six pack of an IPA. The price tags listed on the shelf had the prices listed as $11.99 and $12.99. I went to the register to check out, only to have the cashier take the two six packs over to the customer service counter and get onto the computer while I am having to wait. And sure enough, there are other customers having to wait. When she finally returns, she rings up the two six packs. One costing $13.49, and the other six pack costing $13.99. That was not the prices listed on the shelves. And the cashier did not say anything about the price difference. She just rang it up. Not a good way to start the day. Especially after you get the estimate on how much it is going to cost to have work done on your car's A/C system at the auto repair service you were at earlier that morning. Not even noon, and the day has gone you know where in a handbasket. But with the weather being hot, it is nice to have ice cold air again. Especially on a road trip. As for buying local craft beer to take up for family, I will just make a short road trip to Ivanhoe Park and any other local Orlando breweries. I have shopped in this store previously but it was several years ago. When I walked in today I realized that a lot has changed. I was looking for a couple of items and was wandering around trying to figure out where they were. I found an aisle for vodka and had a brand in mind which they did not have but they do have a wide variety of choices. I was able to choose one and then moved on looking for something else. I was apparently looking in the wrong spot because when I asked an employee they showed me where it was and it was on the other side of the store. They had an item I was looking for but not in the specific brand that I actually wanted. I did find something else in that brand that would work for our purposes. While wandering the store I also found some very interesting looking bottles that I wouldn't mind owning. From skulls to the monkey head to pineapple shape bottles there is always something interesting in a store like this. As I got a feel for the store I ran across an interesting item that I never would have even looked for. I found a display for Yuengling Hershey's chocolate Porter. I'm not a fan of dark beers but I am always intrigued by one that is chocolate. Being as they are both good brands mashed together I was considering it when I ran into the same employee who had assisted me before. We got to talking about it and they had tried it themselves before along with some other chocolate beers and they said this one is a bit more chocolatey and so sweeter than others. While that could put some people off it got my interest. In the end I lost and bought a six pack to give it a try. I have to say that while still a little bitter from being dark it still had a very good flavor to it and I think I could actually enjoy this one. Total wine is the place to go for all things alcohol. They have a huge selection and competitive prices. They also have tons of drinking accessories (glasses, cute gifts, snacks). The staff members are also really helpful. The store itself is pretty big. I love going when I have some extra time and browsing the aisles. In addition to the usual brands, they have their own brand (winery direct, spirits direct). They are basically a knock off and just a bit cheaper. I used to buy Tito's vodka but I tried the Tower vodka and I can't tell the difference. If you sign up for their email list, they send coupons regularly (like 10% off spirits direct bottles, etc). We popped in on a Saturday afternoon to put together a couple "create your own" six packs. We found the staff to be super helpful. They can make recommendations, check product availability, and help you find products in the store. They have a huge selection on all of the different products. The hardest thing we ran into was trying to limit ourselves on all if the beer, there are so many great options. Okay, so Orlando has Disney for the kids, but what about the adults? This place has everything I want, well except Westvleteren, but no one has that! There is such a large selection of beer, wine, and bourbon. I don't really look at the other items much, but they seem fairly well stocked. The only issue is that in my experience and that of a couple of friends, is that they tend to recommend their house brands, or brands that may benefit them more. So you might consider taking their words with a grain of salt, but then again, we should always consider the possible bias behind words. That being said, many of them seem knowledgeable and very friendly. Also, don't take a beer lover here, they might find themselves examining beer bottles for large amounts of time. I suggest checking the Beer Advocate website before visiting those beer bros know their beer. The advise works for Scotch lovers or any other spirit lovers. If you have an idea of what you want before you go in, you might be happier when you leave. read more
