Employee Adam went out of his way to find a gift box for a bottle of champagne we wanted to purchase. There was none of the boxed editions on the store shelves, so we settled on a bottle and a separate generic gift box. As we were almost ready to checkout, we heard Adam calling to us and had the gift boxed edition we wanted. He dug through inventory in back of the store somewhere and found it. I came to total Wine and more today to pick up a bottle of champagne for New Year's eve. This location is very large and spacious, and the libations are arranged in a well organized way that allows the shopper to browse by libation type. The store itself is clean and there is always plenty of staff to ask you if you need assistance in finding the perfect bottle. I made my way to the champagne section and was able to find a special 2012 Laurent Perrier bottle of champagne. I went to the checkout stand, and the bottle rung up a little more than what the advertise tag had stated. The clerk was very understanding and was able to direct me over to a manager who promptly corrected the price adjustment and honor the listed price as opposed to the new updated price. The whole transaction didn't take long at all, and the staff handled the whole situation and away that did not make me feel uncomfortable or thrifty. Staff service: five stars. As mentioned above, there's plenty of staff wandering the floor to assist you if you need something and they are more than happy to give their opinion on some of the bottles should you find yourself on the fence or just needing some general direction. Parking is very easy and I have come to the store several times before. I only wish that this chain had better rewards program as they would probably see more of my business. read more

We went to dinner at one of the country clubs nearby and had a wonderful bottle of Alias cabernet wine, so I thought I'd try to find it here. I walked in and was overwhelmed by the selection of all kinds of wines and spirits, and the aesthetics of the store was very attractive for booze shopping, haha. It took me awhile to get someone to help me and unfortunately, Alias must have been one of the few wines they don't carry. Bummer. But I am a bit of a connoisseur in wine and whisky, so when I need something "not everyday," and price is not an object, I turn to Total Wine & More. They have a large selection of Islay whiskys and Bordeaux wines that I can get lost in for an hour or so. Also appreciate their solid selection of cigars. I feel that I need to mention the competition. Bevmo is right down the street and more convenient, but...smaller with less selection. read more

The customer service is very good -- at least with my experiences while she shops and I browse. The entire store is clean and organized. Very frustrating experience yesterday. I walked in to pick up my priority bourbon order and stood at the desk for a good 5 minutes with no help and several staff walking by and ignoring me. I flagged a guy down and he mumbled something and I asked him to repeated it and he told me he was busy and the guy on the ladder would need to help me. The mumbling guy came back 5 minutes later and checked me off the list. He had to go to the back to get my priority order. I waited as he went to the back of the store and when he returned, He told me I had to go to the register to pay for it and he would bring the bottle to the register. I went to the register, waited in line and explained to the clerk. She told me I needed to go to a special pick up area. I went to the special area, waited in line only to be told it was at the register. At least the person at the special register took the time to walk me over to the register and find the bottle that the mumbling guy put at the register. Needless to say, this was a terrible and time consuming experience. There were a lot of staff working, but no focus on customer service. read more

After being charged incorrectly for items on 7 different occasions, I have finally reached the end of my rope with this business. Because I have been billed for $1-$3 more than the corresponding tag under the item so many times, I began taking a picture of each price tag for proof. Yesterday, a 12pk of beer was $2 higher than the price tag. The cashier, a lady I do not know, but have seen before, was very put out when I mentioned the discrepancy. She said, "Well, I would have to find someone to go check it and we do have a line here, and..." as her voice trailed off. I simply showed her my phone and then she called a guy on her radio to "take that tag off this beer since it is wrong". Then she looked at me and said, "Well, THIS TIME I will give you the price, even though it is wrong". Excuse me??? So, due to your continued incompetence to align the right prices with the right product, you will so graciously ring it up "this time"? Save your breath lady. I'll not trouble you folks again. Someone else will now have my business. And I have been going to this store (Palm Desert CA) a minimum of 1-2x a month for 11 years. See ya, would not want to be ya! read more

This place was awesome as it was the first time going to this store as I was looking for a particular alcohol which they had! And all I can say was they had every type and size of alcohol you can imagine from beer to whiskey to vodka and wine. The employees are usually nice and friendly, sometimes you'll have to walk around to find one if you need assistance, especially later in the day or evening. The store is organized so it is relatively easy to find items. The staff members are also very helpful if you need any suggestions or direction. The assistant store manager was helpful when we were looking for a cheap tequila, specific wines and cider beers. I found the best beer I've ever had at this store. I usually hateeee beer. Asked several employees what aisle and was directed accordingly. I could not find Grand Marnier after several passes on the aisle. Finally an associate took me to it on the bottom shelf buried out of view. I found the same on Baileys Irish Cream, bottom left corner on the aisle. The products at eye level I did not recognize, but they certainly had better shelf position. So my assumption is TW is attempting to push off brands rather than present the best sellers in favor of the customer. Customer First? So happy they are now carrying the NA options I have come to enjoy. Being on an alcohol time out is never something I look forward to. I've tried dozens of NA beers and none have hit the spot. The Lagunitas IPNA is a very my low alcohol beer that ranks as the best NA beer I've had to date. On the other hand the hoppy refresher has no alcohol at all and no calories. It's absolutely a hop forward refresher that's blown my mind. I've tried to find these two on my travels and I was able to locate them both at Total Wine. Both of these are starting to blow up on a larger scale but it's never a surprise that Total Wine has cutting edge beverages well before they are available on a larger scale. I live in KCMO, and came to visit SOCAL for family, as I have for the past 6 years. I came here because we have one where I live and I absolutely love it! I got to checkout and asked to buy a bag and the lady raised her voice extremely loud toward me saying "THIS IS CALIFORNIA" I proceed to tell her "well I've gotten bags before at other places in California" she proceeds to again yell "THIS IS CALIFORNIA" .. just think it was super uncharacteristic, abrasive and all the above! I think the lady needs to touch grass and take naps more often. - Californians take notes, just because we're traveler/tourist, we're not all idiots. Wow, this is like an alcoholic mega-store. The staff here while not unfriendly, did not go out of their way to offer assistance or greet. This place had a fantastic selection of, well of everything and anything! I wish that this place was anywhere close to where I lived at, as I could have spent a LOT more time just browsing the shelves for something obscure and awesome. Each time we've asked for help, it's almost like having a personal shopper assist you, walking you to the exact location in the store the product you're seeking is located, no matter how many items, and so full of information. The store itself is located in a large shopping center, so there's plenty of parking. They do a great job with Covid-19 safety measures; carts are wiped clean and there are a couple of disinfection stations. read more
