Here's the lesson for providers: some of your customers actually have a clue (30+ years in network management). Don't assume they are rubes and that when they tell you it is NOT the in-house equipment but an upstream problem, just listen and investigate. It's infuriating to have to spend hours getting someone to listen. Again, my thanks to the tech and supervisor who did finally listen, investigate and fix the problem impacting many people in our community.
