I called them before walking in and I asked about the prices. When I got there and the whole style was done, I got charged more than what I had expected. Some places let you get charged for cut and blow dry. This place charges you a full package regardless. I washed my hair on my own so I can get charge the cut and blow dry, why they was charging 100$ for wash blow and cut. I told her how much for cut and blow ? The owner/stylist Ilma was super friendly and informative. The process took a little over 2 hours. Ilma made me feel comfortable throughout and explained what to expect from my hair and how to care for it after treatment. I'm going on 3 weeks and my hair still looks great. It's smooth but still maintains its wave. When I blow dry, drying time has been cut in half and I no longer use any hair products to stop the frizz. The treatment was about $300. I just got keratin treatment today with Ilma. Full disclosure: I've never had keratin treatment before so I have nothing to compare it to and I also was only there today so I have yet to report on the long lasting results but judging from other reviews I doubt I'll be disappointed. I will say that Ilma is so lovely and friendly and the salon has a warm, genuine vibe to it that is so often lost in other salons. It has that community feel to it that I think is so important in spaces like this, especially for women. The service was much easier and faster than I expected - was in and out in about 1 hr and 15 min. No unbearable chemical smells and Ilma was very gentle and thorough. After all the glowing reviews I was very excited to get a keratin treatment from this place. Unfortunately my experience wasn't so great. My hairdresser (i think his name is Jay) was friendly in the beginning, but once I was in the chair and he began the process he simply didn't acknowledge me. He was chatting with other people, constantly getting distracted with his phone, joining a video call. When he used a hair dryer I was trying to tell him that he is burning my cheek, but didn't get any reaction from him so i simply had to cover my face with towel. The client next to me had a great service- the hairdresser (I think she is the owner) was giving advice and paying attention to her client, while I got nothing from my hairdresser not even how to care post keratin treatment. I believe if i would have different hairdresser my experience would be much better. Not a good match for me. read more

I got my curly hair slightly relaxed here with the brazilian treatment (once in Jan 2010 and again Sept 2010. The 2nd time looked even better, I think it builds on itself). I feel the treatment is permanent because once the coating was washed out completely (in about 3 months I think) my hair was left permanently slightly relaxed but shiney, even after I got it bleached elsewhere (which I lived to regret). I would say I went from a tight corkscrew curl at the bottom of my hair (see pics) to a looser botticelli curl that does not coil but stays in an "S" shape instead. Despite this, there is NO line between my new growth and the treated hair. It somehow blends nicely, I have no idea how. I mean I went 8 months b4 doing it again. Maybe the ends pull the roots down? I have no idea. I asked for a lighter version so I can keep my curl & have an option of straightening. I posted pics of the curls b4 and after and eventually will post a straight pic too. I get a trim as well. My treatment was $180ish and with a trim was $225 (not including tip). Huma and Priscilla are both awesome, no attitude, just warm and friendly. I believe I'm in and out in about 3 hrs. The best part is, before doing the brazilian treatment, no matter how long my hair grew you could never tell, it would just spring up to the same damn length. Now my curly hair finally looks long since the coils are looser :) Hope this helps. I'm happy to answer any questions, just don't ask me about formaldehyde because I have NO idea, but you can ask the salon. read more

Im fairly new to New York and looking for "My Go-To Salon". I was recommended to Touch of Brazil by a friend for their Keratin treatment. I wanted highlights before getting the keratin treatment, so I scheduled an appointment on Saturday and was appointed with Elaine. The salon is small, but it was very cozy and clean. I was their first appointment on that Saturday morning, so it was just me and Elaine. I explained to her I wanted light brown highlights and even showed her a picture of how I wanted my hair to look. I asked before we even started of this can be done, and she said of course. I even made it clear I did not want blonde. (I have dark brown to black hair, so I'm skeptical on any new stylist working with my hair, especially coloring it.) Elaine was extremely nice throughout the whole process and very attentive, especially since it was just us two. As she was finishing washing the toner out, her next client came in. I sat back in the stylist chair and she explained if I wanted her to blow dry she has to charge extra, which is not a problem. My only concern was the highlights looked blonde!! I had her blow dry some sections to be sure. Yup I was right I had blonde highlights. I was completely unhappy and had her make the highlights darker. But she was more rushed because she had 2 clients waiting for her now. A little over two hours later the top of my head is still much lighter than the ends. I think the top part has a hint of blonde and the ends are brown. Nothing like how I expected it to be. I'm suppose to come in again so she can fix the roots (make it more even) and then do the keratin. At this point, I'm so unhappy with my hair - I rather go somewhere else to redo my highlights. I absolutely recommend this salon. I visited for the first time about 1 week ago to get the Brazilian keratin done and I am so impressed with how it came out. This was my first time getting it done and I washed it for the first time after 72 hours and let it air dry and it is soo smooth and no frizz! My hair is super frizzy thick and curly and I love that I am able to just let it air dry and I am done! Priscilla was my stylist and she was extremely nice and walked me through the process and I was done within 2 hours. The price is very reasonable considering I have very long thick hair . I have been to MANY salons in Germany, UK, Portugal, Brazil and the US. but I have not ever received the same level of service, professionalism, that I received at Touch of Brazil, the other salons don't even come close. Ilma took special care of me because, let me just start off by saying that I have very thick hair and A LOOOT OF IT! (BARBIE 80s hair) I came here last summer around June to get the keratin treatment done and it was the best money I have ever spent.
