She is also an insanely talented cake decorator and pulls out all the stops to make sure her customers are happy. While her bakery will be temporary closed while she is starting her family, I have no doubt her business will continue to thrive when she returns.

On this particular occasion I made it right around 11:30 am and I only had 4 people in front of me in line. The bakery is run by the same two people day in and day out, Rob and Anna. They can come off a bit standoffish at first but nothing could be further from the truth. Rob spoke to all 4 people ahead of me and even knew some of them by name and things going on in their lives. On this visit I had a cup of Chicken Gumbo and a Turkey Sandwich. The Gumbo was full of sausage and veggies and had a nice flavour to it. The sandwiches however really are the star of the show here as Chuck pointed out. The bread was so fresh it was still warm. And the turkey piled about 3 inches thick. I opted to add cheddar cheese for the bargain price of $0.50 bringing the price to $6 for the soup and sandwich. An unbelievable bargain! Not only would I recommend Riley's bakery but would consider it a necessary stop if you visit Cornwall. You won't be disappointed.

These squares haunt my dreams, that's how good they are! There's a layer of brownie, then a thick layer of gooey marshmallow then a peanut buttery chocolate spread on top that has crisped rice in it. It's heavenly, and only $3 for a good sized piece. I had a chat with the man manning the stall and he said he was the owner's dad. He was super nice and we chatted a bit and I asked him where the bakery was, and he said Chesterville. I asked him where that was and he said 45 minutes southeast of Ottawa, and told me a bit about Chesterville. He also said they are frequently at the Farmers' Markets in Westboro and Lansdowne. If you are in Chesterville, I would definitely recommend checking out the dessert squares at The Rite Bite. Or if you are an urbanite like me, check them out at the Farmers' Markets, lol. I'll have you know my children were sent out because the employee couldn't muster the energy to put down the broom and work the cash register. Employee stated to my children that she was closing up. Would she have said that to a group of 5 adults walking in at 6:53... or did she have no issue turning them away because they were kids? If business hours end at 6:53pm, then the business should post that... Instead, this business clearly advertises closing at 7pm. We certainly won't patronize this business again. I would be furious if this was my business and my employee turned away customers who wanted to support my small business by putting a smile on a few kids' faces.
