HarborChase McKinney When I realized that our loved one…read moreneeded assisted-living care, I began the search. My desires for a good facility were broad and many, but I wasn't about to settle for second best. Here is a partial list of my criteria: Cleanliness, good food, varied activities and outings, committed staff, complete levels of care available as residents age, on-site nurse, community involvement, family interaction and the list goes on. Of course, the price each month had to be reasonable. I looked at 15 different facilities in the Richardson, Dallas and Plano areas. I saw places I would never let my loved one go into. I worried that my loved one's needs and my standards were never going to be met at a fair price. Then one day I visited HarborChase in McKinney. This facility was exactly what I had been looking for and more. As we toured around and I met several staff members, I was struck by the happiness and positive atmosphere created there. It was comfortable to be around everyone and I knew right away this was the place I could trust to take over caring for our family's loved one. After a long meeting with the executive staff, all of my questions were answered to my satisfaction. We then took our loved one to check out the place and look at a beautiful studio apartment with a patio. He was hooked immediately and HarborChase became his home and our second home. We have never looked back, and our entire family is so grateful to the caring staff for always, every day, going the extra mile to ensure everything promised to us is delivered. Vicki Moore

They were wonderful getting her signed up and actually had her at one of their sister locations for the first couple of months while they waited on their new facility licensing. They took care of the move into the other facility and then the move back once they were open. They went above and beyond getting her acclimated and getting her to join in on activities. Grandma passed a few weeks ago and her care was exemplary right to the end. Ashley (Executive Director) and Tamera (Head of Patient Care) we're always available to answer questions or concerns and kept us updated whenever needed. Everyone there felt like family and we will actually miss seeing them on a regular basis, because they were such a big part of our lives this past year. I can't say enough about how grateful we are to them for taking such good care of Grandma.

If you wanted to talk to her you needed to go to her office. Speaking of "office" the office a Bell Tower Reserve is never open. Lights off, doors locked was the normal. Sometime there is a girl at the counter, but not very often. I often witnessed potential new residents who had set up an appointment leave because of "no show" staff. More than once!! Friday night is "Happy Hour" and when residents bringing a homemade dish to the dinning room to share a. It was also time to hear what the "so called" manager was up to and what lies she was currently spreading, or problems she was causing. When we moved in in September 2024 the incentive being given was, one month's free rent, plus a thousand dollars. Moving in, in mid September, we naturally thought we'd be awarded Septembers incentive However that was not the case. As explained to us (in a meeting with the "so called" resident manager (Tracey) we learned) "that since you signed up in August, but didn't move in until September, your are not eligible for the incentive. That's our Policy!!" She went on to explain that if we had signed up AND moved in in September, then we would have received the incentive. Sorry!! At the Thanksgiving " Turkey Dinner Celebration" our manager managed to show up long enough to get herself in the front fo the line, fill her plane, then go hide out in the kitchen. The one turkey was enough to feed half the residents waiting in line. This did not go over will with the majority of the residents asking ,the hiding manager, if there was any more food to share. As usual, there was no response from her. For them, what sided dishes remained was all they got. The Christmas "dinner" consisted of a sandwich on dried-out bread, with a bag of chips. Wow, what a great meal. The "Computer" room has a couple chairs, a couple blank screens, no internet and no computers. The "Workout room" is about the same. Treadmills that don't work, workout machines that no one can use, no general work-out program for the residents to partake in. No response from the "so-called" manager when asked about staffing or providing a knowledgeable person one or two days a week. Maintenance staff come and go frequently. The beaty salon is open a couple days a week by a very good beautician. Her only problem is without the proper equipment she cannot do pedicures very well. Residents have asked for a manicure and pedicure chair, but as usual "crickets" from management. The last I heard, management had told the beautician to take pedicures off of her list of options. All because management doesn't want to invest in their clients well being. As beautiful as Bell Tower Reserve is, know that and be cautious as it's looks are deceiving. Down deep the management could care less about attentiveness, honesty and being friendly. Caution should be taken if considering moving into this place. Their rent is ever increasing while their accommodations, services and attributes continue to decrease. Management prior to this one is what they are currently living on. Maybe new management will bring back the greatness Bell Tower once had. For now, don't count on it. There are others that will treat you better. George T.

I eventually had to ask the front desk, where I was finally told what steps were required. We followed those instructions and completed everything by the end of the month. Despite this, we were still charged for the following month's rent. This is where my one-star review comes in. I called, emailed, and followed up repeatedly, but could not reach the property manager. I left numerous messages and had to visit the property twice before finally speaking with her in person. At that time, I was told a refund was "in the works." That conversation was three months ago, and I have yet to receive anything. Since then, I have continued to email, text, and call with no resolution. It now appears I will have to make another in-person visit. Dealing with the loss of a parent is difficult enough. The lack of professionalism, communication, and follow-through from the management at Bell Tower Reserve only added to an already painful experience. If you plan to live here, be sure to immediately close any accounts tied to the property, or be prepared for significant frustration when trying to resolve issues.

We visited dozens of sites on the internet, and drove to six places in the north Dallas area. The one place that jumped out to us was Parkview in Frisco. We have never been sorry that we chose this as our home. It is a an attractive facility, and the landscaping is beautiful. Parkview has several different floor plans and apartment sizes, but we chose a two bedroom, two bath apartment that meets our needs perfectly. It has a modern kitchen, large living/dining room and a comfortable balcony with a view. All utility expenses (except TV and phone) are included. Our maintenance needs are also included and fixed rapidly just by a phone call. But it is the friendly residents and serving staff that puts Parkview ahead of other retirement complexes. Smiles and hello's greet you in the hallways and warm conversations are the norm in the dining room. And by the way, the food and service iin our Embers Restaurant is first class, with a wide variety of selections and all prepared and served well. We love to take cruise vacations, and our life "aboard" Parkview is very much like that on a premium cruise ship: daily activities, entertainment, dining, etc. So if you are looking for a retirement place, you should come by Parkview in Frisco. We think you will like it . . . we certainly do. Bob M P.S. Here's a link to a website we publish highlighting life here at Parkview in Frisco: www.parkviewers.com

I've noticed that there's ALWAYS a happy buzz in the restaurant - which to me says a lot about how much people enjoy themselves and I've NEVER seen that so consistently at any of the other many many communities that I've been to - and the food is GREAT! Parkview actually have the ONLY restaurant that I've been to in the US where I can get a salmon cooked and served as it should be - and I'm from northern Sweden so I definitely know my salmon! :-D ...and the grilled chicken salad with the Chef's homemade dressing - O M G it's so fingerlickin' gooooood I wished they sold it bottled!! The last time I visited, I got the chance to see their new Assisted Living and Memory Care next door and...WOW!! That is the most astonishing AL/MC that I've EVER seen - on any side of the Atlantic ocean! It seriously looks like a serene SPA with a Texas-twist - it's sooooo beautiful in every little detail and it's amazingly well thought through to help the residents thrive. It totally astonished me and still, I have a veeeery critical eye when it comes to living conditions and surroundings! :-D I definitely recommend this place! :-)

The apartments are nice, but the maintenance is lacking. Once you get there, you find out that most of the residents do not eat at Watermere. They go to the restaurants surrounding it. One of the reasons my father wanted to go to an independent living place was because he was tired of eating alone, so he found this disappointing. But, once you eat the food, you understand why most residents don't eat there. It is terrible, and they charge the residents high cost for the subpar food. They recently went to a flat fee for the meal. They often run out of something, but you are charged for the item in the large fee even though they ran out of something. I think the manager should be forced to eat it every day, maybe it would improve. There also seems to be turnover in upper management. They seem like they want to fix the issues but their hands are tied. This place has such potential but it just seems poorly managed. It's not cheap, so where is all of the money going?
