The only downside was his inability to thoroughly assess the attic and roof decking due to the blown in insulation in our attic making him feel uncomfortable to venture far beyond the access point. I've bought property in California and Nevada, and Mark is far and away the best home inspector I've ever met. He answered all my questions promptly, setting up an appointment was fast and painless, and he arrived at our appointment early to inspect the roof with his ladder. Not only is he exceedingly knowledgeable and thorough, he was happy to answer all my questions, and by the end of the appointment, he had taught me all I needed to know to take care of my new home. He has the latest technology to find any damage that can't be seen with the naked eye. He doesn't watch the clock and took his time to examine every crevice. I've bought about a half dozen houses in my lifetime. Best inspector I have ever used. We recently used Mark for an inspection in Vancouver and I was super-impressed. He saved us from what would have been a disaster. Despite being very thorough, he was also very clear about differentiating big issues from little ones; not just going down a checklist. If needed, he also has the tools and capabilities to do further investigation such as mold, radon, or sewer cam, which makes following up on issues much quicker and easier than having to schedule a different inspector to follow-up. Most importantly, we felt like he was looking out for our interests rather than the agents'. A lot of inspectors are hesitant to emphasize serious issues because they don't want the buyer's agents to stop sending them jobs. Not Mark; he was on OUR side. read more

We live in a relatively new house so we try to keep up with what may decrease its value if we decide to sell. After seeing what looked like mold inside the caulking of our shower and fearing the worst (rot under floorboards and/or the wall), we called Mark to give us an expert opinion. He quickly scheduled a time that worked for us. He used both a heat sensor and a beeping moisture meter to reassure us that our floor and wall are safe (albeit a bit damp from a cheaply made shower door). More than that, though, he gave us advice on how to protect the area from further damage, as well as what to keep an eye out for that could concern a future inspector. I was hearing odd noises that sounded like they were coming from inside my walls near the roofline at the rear of the house. Mark came out and inspected the house that very same day - crawl space to attic, including thermal imaging in the bathrooms, laundry rooms, kitchen sink area, and walls where drains ran. Reported that the house is in excellent shape with no penetrations or leaks. Did see some things that needed attention on the home exterior but that they could wait for better weather. He suggested the noise might be woodpeckers on the exterior trim. Turns out he was correct. Could not have asked for better or more thorough service! read more
