A great addition to the Houston food scene and one of the best breakfast/brunch locations! Set just a block away from Minute Maid park in a historic building, this restaurant features it's own bakery and has an amazing selection of desserts...cupcakes, cookies, macaroons and other sweets. We went for brunch so I can't comment on their lunch/dinner menu although based on our brunch, I'm sure the other meals will be outstanding! All kinds of people were there, from students on laptops to families with small children to the artsy couples. For brunch, we had the Vietnamese Steak and eggs, Chicken & Waffles, Avocado Toast and the Southern Benedict. We also tried a chocolate croissant as well as two of their homemade juices. Steak & Eggs - Beef was in large cubes and cooked well, a nice flavor with a bit of spice. I actually liked the baguette slices with the bahn mi butter and pate the best on this dish. Chicken and Waffles - The chicken was a large chicken breast, fried in what looked like "Shake n Bake" coating. It was a bit dry. Avocado Toast - Surprisingly, this was one of our favorites. The bread was fresh and homemade, sliced thick and smeared with guacamole that had a great spice to it. Southern Benedict - Housemade cornbread was nothing like the traditional yellow Jiffy-Pop. Poached egg was cooked well and the sauce had a nice flavor. We took six cupcakes to-go, the Churros and the peanut butter were our favorite. I like this place but i can't get myself to like the rude staff. After standing in line for ten minutes the person at the register decided to tell us they couldn't take our brunch order anymore and we had to wait for lunch 30 minutes. It would be perfectly understandable if there were more people behind us and if they serve us brunch they would have to continue doing it for the rest of the people in line. We were the last people there and it was exactly 2 pm. Yes I also understand brunch ends at 2 pm but they could have told us that they would not be taking our order even if we were already in line . This happens to be the 4th time I have a rude encounter with the staff so it will be hard for me to continue to recommend this place to my friends or to keep coming here. I loved everything about this place. From the food to the sweets, and the store front to interior. I will becoming back again for food and deserts without doubt. I stopped in here one day with a friend to grab some brunch. It was quite crowded as we had to circle around to the back of the building to park our car. As I looked through the menu, I'd the say the prices are above average for a meal, but when we received it, we were inhaling the food. I can say I finished every bite and drop off of my plate. We also tried out their drinks that they had up front sitting in the open top fridge. It looks like they make these drinks in-house. I know they are involved with the dessert shop, SWEET. They have the same exact macarons and flavors. I love these and I can't get enough! Every time I see these, I'll get about a dozen for myself. I saw that they served ice cream macaron sandwiches so I knew I was going to grab one of those for myself. I didn't know how big these were because I never had one so I ended up ordering two. Had power bowl and detox shots. Both were amazing. Did not like the location of the place, it's right across homeless streets in downtown. While you are enjoying your delicious meal and looking outside through the windows all you can see is homeless people under the bridge and dumpsters. Not sure why such an amazing food place chose a poor location. Also parking had limited options and restrooms were smelly. area didn't seem safe to me. I've always loved this place because of the delicious food, even though the service is inconsistent. Today I had a very disappointing experience. I do know that everything is affect by the current pandemic situation but today was pretty bad. I ordered my food to go online, went to pick it up (wearing my face mask) and then waited for 10+ minutes before anyone bothered to help me. Every single person on staff including the cooks in the kitchen were wearing their masks pulled down below their chin, the people in line were not practicing social distancing, and there was a party of 6+ people celebrating a birthday in the restaurant. When I was finally helped I was informed my food was not ready despite it being well past the time it was scheduled to be ready. Then once I got my food and asked for my 2 coffees, I was informed that drinks weren't made until the person picking up arrived even though I'd been waiting more than 20 minutes at this point. After the disaster at Brasil, my group used this place for our Sunday meeting. It seems like the trendy hipster-ish day after hangout for downtowners, complete an with awkward unisex "WC." It had lots of table space and tables with power hookups. Coffee was okay. They really need some carpet and stuff to make the all concrete room less of an echo chamber. It was a very sad day...I can't believe the disappointment in my macaron ice cream! The ice cream had frost bites and frozen ice chunks :( the salted caramel peanut tart - looks better than it tasted. The crust was so thick and hard that I had to use both hands to get my fork to cut thru it. Needless to say after the first bite the whole thing was tossed away. The other macaron was good but the price for my entire purchase was over $35. 6 mini macaron, 1 ice cream macaron, 1 caramel peanut tart, and 3 bottled drinks. A classy coffee shop in the middle of Houston. The place is a lot bigger once you step inside, and there's free WiFi as well. I love that this place is open late, and there are meal options as well as just coffee and desserts. They do serve kombucha and fresh juices! Though a bit on the more pricey side overall, it makes sense considering the location in Houston. I will comment on the ironic and sad juxtaposition of gentrification across the street though since a lot of homeless people gather there while luxury stores seem to be in the opposite plaza. Parking can be a little tight, and it's generally right behind the building. The place is aesthetically pleasing, so everyone take your Instagram photos there! If you're there for breakfast, I recommend an açaí bowl by the way. Definitely my favorite thing on their menu, but I still have so much more to try :) read more

LOVED this place! I went here tonight for dessert and it was amazing. I had the chocolate tart and it was heavenly- the best dessert I've had in a while. Loved it! It's made of dark chocolate though so it might not be liked by everyone- I know my brother didn't like it. The cake balls are very mediocre but the cappuccino is good! My brother had a vanilla cupcake and liked it. We all tried the macaroons as well and they're so so good!! I think they're around 2 dollars each and I loved them. I and my love one was there yesterday at around 2 pm spend 20 minutes in line to make our order, the cashier only take our beverage and dessert orders and told us the kitchen is not taking entree orders for 15 minutes due to rush hours, we need to come back to make order later. We did not want to waste another 35 minutes, therefore we just leave after finished our dessert even we did not came for dessert but a full meal. About the desserts, all 3 kinds of Macarons,are lack of flavor, over sweet and small if you have ever tried that from Bite Macaron, Mango Crepe Cake $7.25 also too sweet and small. You can double the size for $10.00 at Gyu-Kaku Japanese BBQ. Latte and Macchaito coffee are really good to cheer up, we enjoyed and that why they get 2 Stars from us. read more

SUMMARY Pros: ample space to find seating, cozy interior, open comparably late for your late-night study sessions. Cons: Overpriced food, coffee, drinks, etc. and the jarring view of gentrification you get right through the windows. You come for the ambiance, not for the actual menu items. FOOD/DRINKS/COFFEE: Everything is just way too overpriced. The coffees, drinks, and desserts all cost way too much and really aren't that memorable at all. As far as entrees, I've tried a pasta dish here and it honestly didn't taste that bad. However, it was way too overpriced for the quantity and quality of food that you get. AMBIANCE: The interior of Tout Suite is one of my favorites of all coffee shops throughout Houston (within the 610 loop). It's very cozy and warm yet spacious at the same time. There's a wide variety of seating options that'll cater to whatever mood you're in (i.e. stools, hard chairs, softer booth seatings, etc.) and you're sure to find space for you and your party whenever you come here. *However*, through the big windows that cover the left side of the building, you're guaranteed to witness homeless people underneath the adjacent highway. This view, combined with you being able to see it from your cushy seat in Toute Suite over your $4-5 tiny cup of coffee, reeaallly makes you consider the effects of gentrification and how damn privileged you are. Take this information as you desire, whether that be to leave the establishment, look into how you can make a positive impact, ignore it, etc. Just a heads up. I like the ambience here! A friend said if she had known about this place while in physical therapy school, she would've studied instead of at a bar patio LOL! When we went on a Saturday night about 7:30PM, the place was probably about at 80% capacity. We lucked out in that there was only a short line (about 5 people in front of us), but the line quickly grew to 3+x that as we paid at the cash register. Here's what I ordered: Macarons - I chose 1 pistachio and 1 red velvet macaron. I didn't think there was much to them as they were pretty bland. They were not sweet, and you really couldn't taste the filling. I will pass next time. Mini fruit tart - This was ok. It reminded me of La Madeleine's, only there is no glaze on top and the different kinds of fruit is less. White chocolate ganache cake with raspberry - This was interesting. The top of the cake was actually more like a glaze, and the texture was very gelatinous. But the glaze was shiny. It's hard to describe, but this was okay. It was sweet and fulfilled a need, but there is nothing that screams, "You must have this again!" I can get a better cake for less at Jungle Cafe in Chinatown. Strawberry cupcake - Utter failure. The frosting was hard, and the cake was dry. I cannot stand hard cupcakes! I asked a friend to try to make sure I wasn't crazy, and he agreed. The next day we had cupcakes from another place and ate 3 each LOL; at this place, I ate less than half. I think the problem is the cupcakes just sit on the counter, not in a refrigerator or some kind of temperature/humidity control system (like the cakes and macarons). Thus, they just get stale. A friend made an excuse, "Well, it's late in the day, so that's probably why." That's not an acceptable excuse. If you are out of good food, don't serve bad food. I had this discussion with the owner at Gatlin's BBQ who learned this from Franklin's BBQ. When you are out of what you make best, don't serve anymore! Strawberry bellini - I asked for a bellini, and cashier asked, "A strawberry one?" I asked, "Do you have the traditional peach kind?" He said, "You can look at the menu and see." I'm having a hard time finding the drink section, so it took me about a minute. Then I see. THERE IS ONLY ONE KIND OF BELLINI!!! Seriously??? You made me fish out a menu from the stack of menus just thrown lacksadaisically on the counter in a hot mess just to find this place only serves a strawberry bellini? Or do you not know your own menu (which is worse)? I felt really bad at this point; more people are trickling in (there's about 20 in line waiting to checkout), and he's making me look for something non-existent. Then we get the bellinis, and they're not bellinis at all. They're actually strawberry mimosas and taste like crap. The strawberry puree is bland, and the champagne is extremely dry. This place needs to streamline their processes. There's only one cash register. People have to bunch up together, and if you want to order multiple items, there's no organization. For example, at the donut shop where I go, when you order X kolaches, X donuts, X donut holes, etc, you are ordering from one person, and that one person assists you throughout your entire order. This helps avoid mix-ups. When I was at this place? One person was at the macarons, but then she has to do the cakes too...but then she goes back to the macaron counter for someone 3 people behind me, but then she's back to the cake counter because a friend and I want to order cakes. Then some other girl jumps in at the cupcake area to help, but then she goes back to the cake counter to assist someone, then she's back at the cupcake counter, then disappears. I could not figure out their system, and it wasn't even organized chaos. As a result, throughout all the fray, no one grabbed my mini fruit tart. The cashier couldn't see one, and he luckily had stashed my macarons on top of a power cord, so he grabbed those. So then the girl had to go back to the cake counter to get a mini fruit tart. They had put a friend's cupcake and mine on the same serving board, which is fine, but then the cashier had a hard time understanding that my friend and I were paying separately. Basically, this place relies on the customer to remember what they ordered, what kind of item they ordered (cupcake - did you order chocolate, s'more, strawberry?), and how many you ordered. When you get up to the counter, all of the food is on this small space next to the cashier, and cashier has no way of knowing who ordered what. Therefore, if you have elderly parents like I do who are forgetful, you better keep track of what they chose LOL! I will take The Sweet Boutique in Sugar Land any day. That is my favorite cupcake place with its buttercream frosting that melts like cotton candy in your mouth. The food here looks pretty but is not worth the money or the chaos! The bartista Jacob was awesome in helping us with our coffee order. I had to try the desserts, the salted carmel peanut tart and the tres leches pot. The tart was smaller than I expected but it was just enough to satisfy my sweet tooth. The tres leches was way too sweet for my taste but good flavors overall.
