I could not possibly have had a worse experience here. First of all the place was disgustingly dirty and disorganized. There was dirt everywhere, beer cases were scattered everywhere... it was a mess. They had expired beer for purchase (seriously? Yes!) and no clear signage on what things cost (ragged duct tape for price tags). Second, the staff was extremely rude - I asked a simple question about mixing 12 packs to get a case price, and two employees gave me two different answers. When pressed, one sharply said "well that's the price on the tag!" Do yourself a favor and buy your beer from somewhere more civilized. read more

Nice place they have a great cigar selection, beer, wine and coolers. Just stopped in to grab some coolers since my hotel had a refrigerator in my room. The service and price were right. I'd come back if in the area. Sorry I didn't grab some cigars to take home. read more

Went there to grab a case of Yuengling. The staff was not very friendly and didn't even respond to when I said "Hello" and "Goodbye" during checkout. The worst part is that once I got home, there were two broken and empty bottles. There was no liquid at all, which means that they were busted before, leaked, and were still being sold at full price. I will not return. I will not recommend. Update: 11/05/2014: I went back to get another case of beer because I was in the area and thought that maybe I just had an employee having a bad day on my previous trip, but I still received horrible customer service. I know it's just a beer distributor, but when I say hello and get a grunt and then choose to pay with a debit card and the guy rolls his eyes at me and sighs, I don't care, it's rude. It is tough to rate this location. The beer selection is very good. For the most part I have always found what I am looking for. It's like any other beverage distributor; the lay out isn't too disorganized and I seem to find what I am looking for. So from that standpoint I cannot complain. However the older gentleman who works behind the counter (majority of the times I come in) is a miserable human being. Just about every occasion I come in he is complaining about something. The most recent time was because of how many people were in line. There must have been about 5 customers in line and he spent the whole time complaining about the line. I have worked in retail before, having too many customers isn't a bad thing. Another experience was my first time at this location. I read somewhere online that this store sold individual bottles. So when I went in I asked the older gentleman about this and he snapped at me: "This is a state beer store, its state law not to sell bottles!" A simple, "no we don't" would have been fine. All and all if I am in a bind I will go here, but if I have my options, I will avoid it. read more

My experiences at Towamencin Beverage have always been pretty successful. They have a really great selection. I constantly find things here I never expected to find. I love that they now sell 12-packs as well. The prices are not great, but I feel like all alcohol prices are pretty crappy in PA. Decent sized cooler section, but I find it a little weird that it also seems to be the refrigerator that the workers keep their lunch in. The staff here is generally helpful and friendly. I really don't have any big issues with Towamencin Beverage, just PA laws. For that reason, I have to lean towards 4 stars rather than 3. Worth a stop if you're in need of beer in the area. read more

They have an adorable dog but workers wear baggy masks down below their mouth. Why? The first time it happened I thought maybe they just had an off day. Today, same thing. Really upsetting, will not return. read more

They don't care enough to take care of their customers let alone enough about updating their website for their keg selections. The staff is rude when you have questions and even when you just say hello or goodbye and they fail to respond. Yes they turned the selection of beers around in this place, but completely forgot about customer service. Not to mention they try to sell you the swag they get from the beer distributors for free. Won't go back again! It's a shame cause it could be a great place if they were just friendlier and managed their business better. read more

My husband and I have driven past this building so many times on our way to 476, but have never gone in. Now that we've moved to Harleysville, we are shopping around for our go-to beer distributor. My husband went here this past week for a case of beer, and although the beer selection was great, he was received with the worst customer service EVER from the old man behind the register. While ringing up my husband, he continuously complained about the other customers. What's funny is that the other yelp complaints about this guy from a year or so ago were acknowledged by Towamencin Beverage, but clearly have not been carried through. We will never be doing business with this establishment again. If you want a good beer selection AND excellent customer service, go to Ambler beverage exchange. For us, the 40 minute drive is absolutely worth it. read more

A few years ago, things didn't look so good for this local distributor. I have changed my mind, and my rating. They have improved their signage and the organization of the place, they have attempted to put up a lot of information cards, and even though you can't always find a price on a case of beer, they are doing a pretty good job. The selection is fairly impressive and they now have some really helpful staff. Stop by. And while you're at it, you might check out their new bottle-shop with draft beer on tap (CJ's Dog House). I guess you could buy a hot dog too, but that's not the point. read more

Two of my pet peeves with beer distributors a disorganized set up and having difficulty finding the prices. Towamencin Beveverage does neither of these well, nor really poorly, so three stars it is. They perk to stopping in here is twice recently they have had samples on tap that helped me with my selection. A "junkyard" type dog is also present who wanders between the store and the parking lot. Prices are pretty standard in comparison to other distributors. Only other thing that sets them apart is they have a large selection of cigars for sale. If cigars are your thing. read more

I went in here a few times because they had a less common brewery's beer and they are as close to my house as the next closest in the opposite direction. As the other reviews have stated, the old man is miserable. I was annoyed by him the first few times I went here, but then it became more comical. I had to ask myself, why would you have someone like this in a customer facing role? It's pretty ridiculous. Obviously he has turned other customers off too. Maybe you don't want to fire him because he is family or needs a job, but it is hurting your business. The last time I went here, the woman behind the desk was actually helpful at first. I think she is the owner or part owner. I had two 12 packs and didnt see a full case besides these in the fridge. She told me to grab the full case because it would save me money, so that was nice. Then I saw a small sign on the counter saying you get a discount if you pay in cash. I was already paying with card but I asked how it worked because I figured next time I might just pay cash. Her response, "you get a discount when you pay with cash." Basically re-reading the sign to me. Yeah, no shit! What's the discount? I didn't really react to her and maybe just asked the discount. I don't even remember what it was, just that she annoyed me by re-reading the sign instead of providing specifics. That was the last time I was there. My buddy lives close by it and still goes there but has the same impression of the place as me. I would only go back if I was passing it on my way home and it was more convenient than driving to another distributor. read more

There is always a dog there which I hate. Also the elderly lady does not know how to ring up items correctly and someone else always has to help. Their selection is good but a bit pricy compared to other stores. read more

Selection is pretty good, they have a section with some smaller craft breweries. Unfortunately the staff, with very few exceptions, is not at all helpful. I asked if they could looking to special ordering a couple of cases for me and they acted like I was bothering them. I went to check out their cigar selection and was at first impressed. But then I seen the prices... What a crack. The 10 dollar sticks were about 8 dollars and their 4dollar sticks were like 9 bucks!!!so I got a parts gas 1845 for a decent 7bucks,but when I got home to smoke it, it fell apart! The humidification system wasn't turned on and when I mentioned it to the people, every one of them looked at me like I was speaking another language. I guess that's what I get for buying a cigar from a beer joint. Never again! read more

With thier huge selection, I think they are very organized. Thier craft beers are right in front, when I walk into the store. Also last time I went in, I had a wedding to attend. The woman there was able to help me pick out a reasonable priced box of cigars. It was the biggest hit at the wedding, everyone loved it, and asked how I knew about the cigars. Also, it is located very conveniently near the turnpike so I am able to always get my beer on my way on from work, I don't even have to go out of my way! read more

This is a great beer depot for the area! Their craft beer selection is above and beyond other local distributors. One particularly excellent offering at Towamencin Beverage is the wide variety of sixtel kegs. As a homebrewer this wide selection of sixtels makes rotating my creations with prime commercial brews in my kegerator a breeze. The pricing is fair and I've never not been able to find any specific beer I went in looking for. Towamencin always has samples brews on tap too. Nothing beats getting a taste test to help make up your mind! They also run "Make your own Case" specials from time to time, which offers a unique opportunity to assemble a custom selection to fit your taste. On top of all this CJ's Dog House is just 1 door over and offers individual bottles, pints, growler fills and delicious gourmet hot dog! The icing on this already impressive cake is that the owner is one of the more caring and generous business owners in the area. A local gem! read more
