What a really nice store. Very large, and well stocked with prices that were quite reasonable. Friendly person at the front, maybe the owner? They also had a stage so it must play host to some live music or deejays occasionally My kid was able to sit comfortably in a chair near the front while I made my mad dash thru as much as I could, which is great because a lot of record stores are standing room only and tight. In a little section of what appears to be a historic district. I guess it's the tower district! read more

Heard some legit tunes off the street and found johnnnnnyboy97 was the DJ playing his set list. If you're into vinyl the shop has a nice selection and staff is very friendly. They have different DJ's come in and play their own set lists. Shop has a nice vibe to it. Worth checking out if you're into vinyl. read more

I have been in love with records since I was a child always so fascinated my parents have a huge vinyl collection that they didn't want to share so I knew I had to start my own. I was just looking for a place to go to look and its not too far from my home, so I stopped in. The store is great and the DJ in the back is pretty cool too. When I first walked in, I was on the hunt for some donna summer and when I walked in a was great by her and a many other collectible rolling stone magazines and other brands for just $2. When you walk around the store has a look section in the front carved out for retro clothes and things pretty cool. The albums are sectioned by genre and a great options as well smaller R&B selection, but it was okay I found some great gems. From Michael Jackson (off the wall) Donna Summer (love to love you baby) and lucking up on my favorite BEEGEEs Saturday Night Fever. Great price on everything in the store so I will be back ill give it couple weeks to see what's new in. read more

Came in to sell or trade today and found some great local music. The dude working there was able to take some of my records for a fair enough price and give me a nice chunk of store credit. Very friendly and warm service and store. Not too different than I last remember it three years ago. I guess the previous owner sold it to one of the workers? Looks practically the same to me and still nicely organized and spaced. Good place for basic rock stuff and jazz and I love to see the new arrivals and tiny techno sections hidden in the very front. Overall I am very happy this place exists and can't wait to return for several hours. Parking is always pretty easy for me here and at worst I have to park around the block not far. Also, they got discount type records here which I always appreciate and a stage which they have shows at from time to time I think. If you are in or coming thru Fresno and you want to find some good records this is the place to go. read more

Even had some classic gear... receivers, turntables & speakers. I actually spent some time looking for local artists that I may have engineered and/or produced during my time in Fresno up until 1999. A blast from the past! Quite an extensive collection of vinyl at Tower District Records. Vinyl is displayed by genre, then alphabetically by artist. Prices are very reasonable and if there's anything you need to know about a record (as in scratch or skip) it will be noted on the front. The guy who helped me today was so nice and personable. When I first walked in, he had me put on a pair of gloves. He, too, put on a pair of gloves and had a mask on. Yes, please wear your own mask, as you need one to enter. They will supply you with one, if need be, but hey, that's taking away from their bottom line, so I'll be sure to wear my own. While I was getting gloved, he asked me if there was anything I would like to listen to. I told him I had a list of titles I was interested in and he knew right away if what I was in the market for was in their current inventory or not. After perusing the albums for a bit, I found a few albums from the 70's I wanted. Checkout was fast and easy. I also purchased some paper covers for some 45s I have at home. I will definitely be back to add to my collection, this is a really cool store! Oh, they also had tee shirts, posters and stickers there. read more

Great record store. If you're into vinyl, definitely stop in and give it a browse. Focused on rock, but well-curated enough that you'll find something good in any of their other sections, which include punk, oldies, R&B and classical. Good prices, although you'll find an occasional rare selection for over $200 hiding out among the more affordable offerings. I didn't uncover anything recent while I was browsing, so if that's your thing (and it's mine), don't get your hopes up. Loved the local section. I am totally stoked to find this record store in Fresno. Fair prices, very reasonable return policy (store credit if the record doesn't play well, no fuss), good selection, good turnover, private-ish room for test playing records. I always find something new and exciting in the new releases section. I am a funk and soul girl myself, and while the F & S department isn't as extensive as the rock department, I have still found quite a lot to interest me. I own several thousand records and I found records that I have been looking for, in wonderful condition. Best of all - storekeepers are friendly and kind. Tower District Records has got an amazing collection of used vinyl, including lots of Jazz, rock, and other hard to find stuff like rare imports and EP's. I could spend days in this place and still only dent the surface of what they have available. Bob and his staff are very knowledgeable and passionate about music, and can help you find what you're looking for. They have turntables and stereos in another room, so that you can sample records before you buy them, which is a cool feature. Time to rebuild your collection or start a new one! read more

I was in town for a soccer game and stopped-by Tower District Records on Record Store Day. This has to be one of the best record stores in Northern California! And I have shopping at Ameoba Records in SF, Rasputin/On The Corner Music and Streetlight in San Jose, Dimples in Sacramento during the past three months to build-up my vinyl collection. Tower has a giant selection of rock, jazz, R&B, Blues all in excellent condition and priced between $7-$15 for used vinyl. You should make time to check-out the bargain bins below each isle and you will find a lot of gems. You can sample vinyl in an enclosed listening room where they also sell some turntables and receivers. The owner and staff are friendly and helpful, and as an added bonus they had live music on Record Store Day. I just wish I had more trips to Fresno...damn, did I really say that? OK, if I am near Fresno again, I will make a stop for sure. Oh, and go treat yourself to a home-brew draft at Sierra Brewery afterwards to celebrate your crate digging fun. read more

If you are a serious collector be prepared to spend at least several hours here. The Jazz and rock sections are on point. Lots of obscure jazz, titles on everything from Enja to Esp, to Actual and Strata East as well as some interesting looking private press stuff. I am dropping one star because the prices are for the most part well above median prices, making it hard to justify throwing down unless you absolutely have to have it. Regardless, you will surly find many great records in the 8-15$ range. read more

My son and I love Tower District Records. We go in all the time because it's my son's favorite place. We can spend all day in there if we wanted to. There is no pressure to hurry up and buy. We go through all the records and we can even play and listen to them if we want to. Great selection! We are Beatles fans. There is even a kick-back area with couches and chairs. Sometimes I sit there while my son goes through the records. And the owner and employees - so cool. We were there one Saturday afternoon and someone brought them fried chicken and sides for lunch. The owner even asked us if we were hungry because they had plenty of chicken. How nice! How many places do that these days?? Definitely stop in if you are a music lover. Great place!! read more
