Hey Will, I think you're talking about Jim's Barber Shop in your review above. That was my barber shop of choice when I was at Phillips Exeter Academy, and they have "weird Native American Indian stuff" all over the place at Jim's. I haven't been to Jim's since May 2011 so I don't know what they're like now, but when I used to go, they definitely did have a very conservative flair. I thought the people there were a bunch of fun to talk to while getting my hair cut. I went to Town & Country maybe three times over four years because of how close it was to campus (across the street). Some days, I needed a haircut but didn't feel like walking all the way to Jim's. The older gentleman who worked at Town & Country seemed like a really nice person. The haircuts here are cheaper than they are at Jim's and it's the same haircut here. The man's friendly and he talks up a storm. I'd recommend this shop. There aren't many places for men to get their hair cut in Exeter anyhow. read more

A disaster! I honestly don't know how this place gets any business at all. I went to Phillips Exeter and every kid I know that went here came back looking like they got into a bad fight with a lawnmower. I went here once myself and it was a similar look. There is weird Native American Indian stuff hanging up all over the place and the barbers there are what I would comfortably be able to call "wackjobs." This place is very conservative in a way that would make most conservative people quite uncomfortable. Draws a distinctly graying and older crowd, the kind that only has one or two hairs to cut. This is NOT the haircut you're looking for; go somewhere else!! read more

Ignore previous reviews. This old school winner is under new management and everything has changed. Charley from Kensington is there now and I think it's great. Takes his time cutting your hair after talking to you about what you want. Very friendly and interesting fellow. He's great with kids too. I will definitely become a regular. read more

I been been useing Jim and Charlie for years, what a haircut and barber shop used to be no nonsense

I don't think Will has ever been there before, not only do they not have "Native American stuff" all over the place (last time I was there they had a couple movie posters, but no "Native American" anything) the Barbers don't generally waste their time talking much in the way of politics unless that is what you really want to talk about. Coming from Exeter and having gone to the Barbers at Town and Country for years I can tell you that they do a pretty good job. I usually go to see Charlie and he does a great job. And as long as he is cutting hair I will continue to go see him. If you want a good hair cut, good conversation and in an authentic barbershop (this isn't a salon) then go to Town and Country. read more

The 1st review for the T&C Barber Shop should be ignored completely. The review doesn't even sound like the business in question. For one thing they do not have Native American art on the walls. Never have. They have some sporting memorabilia hanging up but "nothing" Native American. Jim and Charlie are two of the nicest people you will ever meet and they give excellent hair cuts. Plenty of kids get their hair cut there as well. The original reviewer has to be talking about another barber here in town because his review is so contrary to the actual T&C Barber Shop that it makes you scratch your head and wonder what in the heck he is talking about? If you want a traditional haircut, by a real barber, drop by and see Jim or Charlie. You won't be disappointed. read more
