It was located right next to the beer window, so naturally, I thought you can purchase a wine credit slip from the beer window register. I was wrong, it can only be purchased at the main store's register. Drinks: Wine- Options. They have a nice selection of wine that you can choose a 3oz or 5oz pour. Beer- More options. They had beers and premade cocktails at the beer window. Store - Clean. It was an organized store that was well kept. They workers can help you gather larger orders by the register while you shop. I feel extremely blessed that my mom is a great person and very open and she was the one who actually introduced me to this place. On a Sunday afternoon after having a late lunch, I suggested we come here and enjoy a beer. My mom doesn't drink but she was open to accompanying me here and just hanging out with me. This spot is chill and they have a lot of beers on draft and a bunch of different styles. If you like craft beers, this is a nice laid back spot to enjoy them. They have also added a bunch of bourbons too and you can get 1 oz pours too. Neat-o! It was colder yesterday with a cold breeze so we sat inside. I ordered a Lil Wit beer and we sat inside at one of their many indoor tables and chatted. They have a few lottery machines here and my mom enjoys playing some of the games so she bought a few cards and we scratched them off together, checked to see if she won or not, talked, laughed and had a fun time. On a really nice day, you can sit outside and they have a great patio space and also covered areas too. This is a popular spot amongst locals. I immensely value the time I have with my mom. I haven't been here in quite a few years so it was nice to come back after some time. It's very unique in that it's not just a liquor store! On a warm spring Friday evening there was live music, lots of people sitting outside and enjoying the vibes. We actually sat inside since outside was so crowded. Since this place doesn't have food, we got food next door at 2Fifty Texas (love them by the way). We did somel bourbon tastings. I discovered a new bourbon that I really like, Peerless. I'm late to the game, but as I have explored Riverdale Park more in the last year and some, I finally wandered into Town Center Market. Off the bat, let me share the highlights: 1) It's a full liquor store AND bar (mostly beers, but a few cocktails too)! 2) They have 'hoppy hour' Monday-Wednesday from 5-8 for a selection of their beers and ciders! 3) Their prices are pretty good! 4) They have plenty of outdoor seating for amazing weather like what we're experiencing lately! 5) You can bring your own food from anywhere! Lastly, they have those machines that let you try a set number of ounces of different wines and spirits.... it's SO cool!! I've only seen that setup at a wine bar in DC once. I've tasted some cool things -- and it's great before deciding to purchase certain bottles. Of course, you have to buy a tasting cup first and put a set amount of money on it... and then you gotta return it at the end! How I've never noticed this little hideaway next to 2Fifty Texas BBQ... I have no idea. Possibly because it was cold outside, and the sprawling wrap around patio wasn't bustling and full of patrons like the day it was when I visited recently. Possibly because of the nondescript building; a stout matte almost olive green building with a small faded burnt orange awning on one side, and a thin metal patio roof of the same color on the other side. Go inside, and you'll find one of the best beer and wine selections the area has to offer. Refrigerators line a significant portion of the back walls, and the tall standing shelving in between the aisles lend ample space for beers, wines, liquors, and other seemingly hard to find beverages. Near the back... or the front of the building (I'm not quite sure) is a row of taps with a kind gentleman manning the helm at the back of them. You can go up to order any drink you want from the 16 (I believe) taps and drink it out on the patio. I had wandered through the store prior to winding up at this Beer Counter and had chosen an alcoholic hard seltzer in a can. The kind gentleman at the beer stand informed me that I could not drink any closed purchased beverages outside *Sad Trombone*. I went and put back my hard seltzer #ByeByeTopoChico and inquired about the offerings at the beer counter. I have to say... I think it's fairly silly that you can't purchase any of the store's products and drink them on the patio. I'm wondering if this is more of a store policy or more of a county regulation. I am not quite sure. But... it seems a bit odd. I remember going to a store in Charlotte that was JUST like this one... and you could purchase anything inside and then go onto their sprawling courtyard and drink it. I was really hoping this was the case, but unfortunately it is not. That said, I asked the beer gentleman about a couple of the ciders he had and he recommended one to me that he said was very popular. MAN that cider was good. It was called something that alluded to space... I'm struggling to remember the name... but it was something like astro.... or star... or dang... I wish I could remember. Either way, it was really good. The price was right, and it was cold coming from the tap. My friend pointed out to me after I brought the drinks out that a lot of people on the patio were drinking that cider. The color was very distinct. Definitely looking forward to making it back here to enjoy the nice weather. I think some umbrellas on the uncovered side of the patio would be a solid choice for a bit more of a relaxed environment. Also... I would have a simple solid food option at that beer counter as well if it were me. Maybe a soft pretzel... hot dog... something simple. Then again... 2Fifty is right around the corner which is the most most solid of options. But that place can get REAL busy. There was a line outside of the store when I passed it. Overall, a VERY cute spot in Riverdale that I see myself visiting sometime soon. read more

This is the cutest place I have visited since I moved to the neighborhood. A dear friend of mine asked me to come with her to the market to have a few beers and I kindly accepted. Upon entry, it's a market with an assortment of beers, wines, spirits and the like with snacks and such to purchase. We had girl chat and enjoyed our beer flights after hounding the awesome employee with our selections. While I do like beer, I made sure that I choose beers that was liking to my palate and I was very happy with my choices. We sat on the patio on a Tuesday evening and enjoyed the sights. I wish they had heating lamps outside on cooler nights. Cool local hangout spot that's off the beaten path. Money well spent and I will be back again! read more

You can find me here most Friday evenings if we're in town. They have good pours and an ever changing beer menu. Usually there are beer tastings on Friday and I'm pretty sure they have a tap takeover on Thursdays. They just recently (about a month or two ago) got what I call the WineATM. You get a card and then you pour what you want from this wine vending machine, and then you pay at the end. Neat-o! They outdoor seating can be pretty packed if you don't come at the right time. They have the porch heater thingys that will keep you usually warm enough. It's a great social atmosphere and a nice way to meet some locals. You can even fill your growlers here if you want. Oh yeah, and the market part, there is perhaps the area's best wine selection, and a pretty decent beer selection. They also have a things like ice cream, bread, etc. If you feel hungry, order some pizza from Dumm's next door or sometimes, Town Center Market has food trucks come by and park in their parking lot. This a such a nice hidden gem in riverdale. I'd gone in to buy beer in the past (great selection) but had no idea they had a bar where you could buy drinks for sitting outside. Technically they have tables inside too but it's nice sitting out front, people watching, train watching and just enjoying the little area. You can't drink beer you purchased from the store out there but you can enjoy anything they have on tap. There's also a smoking and non smoking section, non smoking is all high top tables and smoking is regular metal tables at the back. A nice perk is being by food options (tapas, dumms, bbq) that you can take out and eat out front. We were able to get our beers from the market, get settled at the high tops, order tapas online and then just walked over to pick them up and bring back. They also have heaters for when it's get colder out so it's a nice place to hang almost any season. read more

If you're looking for a great selection of Craft Beers, then there are only Three options in the area, and this is arguably the best one. They have a steady rotation of hard to find, and often unheard-of beers. Also, they will special order a beer for you if they don't have it (& can get it). PLUS: I'm told that they are the 1st non-brewery in America to have a special "Growler Filling Machine." It's imported from Austria. It's a machine that expels the oxygen from the bottle and replaces it with Co2 while it's filling the bottle. I've bought Growlers from here that (unopened) were still fresh and carbonated two months later... that's right 2 Months! Awesome! Their selection of draft craft beers changes daily, and they post the ratings & descriptions for each one from Beer Advocate. They once had Troeg's Nugget Nectar available for Growler Fills and they sold out in one day. I originally got hooked on this place because, one time, I had to use their ATM and they happen to be doing a tasting of craft beers...Well I've been hooked ever since. On one of my 1st visits, I walked around the Craft Beer Section for about 20 minutes not knowing what I wanted because I didn't recognize any of the brands. Then the owner, Jimmy, came over and helped me pick out a couple of World-Class beers that I now love, Allagash Tripel & Boulevard's Long Strange Tripel. - Fantastic! I actually don't like most beers (especially IPA's), but I love Belgian Tripel's & Quad's...And they have plenty to choose from. They also happen to be a Western Union, Check Cashing, Keno playing, Convenience/Beer & Wine Store. They also sell Zeke's Coffee, local cheeses, and several other local food items. But I come here for the rare & unusual Craft Brews & growler fills thereof. You Can Drink your beer here too!!! They have a patio and serve draft pints as well as food from Dumm's Pizza & Subs (located next door)... On Thursday nights during the summer, they have rotating food trucks, regional brewery tap takeovers/tastings, & live music outside on the patio, while the Farmer's Market is going on accross the street. It's so much more than just a gourmet convenience store. Overall, my experience here has been exceptional. On separate occasions, I've gotten to speak with the owners, Jimmy & Ted, and we have talked at length about their desire to be a one stop gathering place for Riverdale Park. Along with the Draft Beers they now have several TV's to watch while you drink, eat, use WiFi or play Keno. Regularly mentioned in the Washington Post for their wine selection and carrying the hidden gems (read cheap but excellent wines). They recently received a liquor license and I'd rather have liquor than rows of chips. The BEST beer selection in the area and a much better shopping experience than the dim and dingy stores in the rest of the area. Near the back entrance they have beer on tap and this serves almost as a de facto bar. They usually have one of my favorites (Weihenstephaner). Blue laws in MD are bizarre. Usually a fantastic selection on tap. You can also buy wine on tap there The owners are super friendly and will special order any booze they don't normally carry if a distributor can get it for them. The good: Decent beer selection with a constantly rotating tap list. The bad: No food. Unless you consider Doritos and Slim Jims to be food. The staff. Completely unfriendly and unprofessional. The ugly: The "locals" crowd that hangs there on the weekend. Not trying to stereotype, but this crowd shows up and drinks hard liquor in the parking lot across the street at 8am before they open. Then they migrate to the patio of this establishment. Avoid this place on the weekend by all means possible. In conclusion, this place opened at a time when there was nowhere to get a decent craft beer in Riverdale. They are past their prime. Whole Foods will soon be opening up the street with their craft beer, growler fills and delicious organic food. This is the ultimate neighborhood convenience store. When I went by it the first few times, I expected to only find small food items but a little more than a 7-Eleven because the building is a larger than those kinds of stores. I totally underestimated it and I'm quite happy about that error! TCM offers food, drinks, minor financial services, gambling (lotto, electronic horse betting, scratch offs), and an incredible selection of wines, craft beers, and beers on tap. My favorite part? The weekly beer tastings and food trucks! What kind of a local neighborhood store (that isn't a bar) has almost 20 beers on tap?? Every Thursday evening, TCM brings in a brewery representative or a distributor to showcase a few new beers that are on tap (usually 5-6 types to try). A food truck also sets up next door so you can grab a beer, food, and hang out outside to enjoy the nice evenings. I sometimes hit up the local farmers' market across the street and then end up at TCM. The event has gotten so popular (it's often hard to find seating outside or inside) that they started to bring in the food truck on Fridays, too. Several times I have gotten there a little later, like 7 or 7:30 and found that they are already out of 2 or 3 of the new beers that they just put on tap. The taps aren't only reserved for those nights. You can walk in on a normal afternoon and grab beer as needed. They will fill you up with a tasting sized glass, pint, 16 oz, or 32 oz growler. Prices are decent ($15-30 for a growler depending on the beer and $8-15 for a bottle of wine that won't leave you with a headache). The thing TCM lacks is a larger food selection but then they'd need to add more seating. It's totally fine if you grab pizza from Dumm's or a plate from the food truck; those are the only meals right there but they do have snacks inside. If want other kind of food with your beer, then Franklin's restaurant and brewery is right down the street/trail and they make their own beer.
