He was gentle and concise while outlining our choices. My husband and I had already decided that we didn't want her to suffer if her prognosis wasn't good. We decided to euthanize her and the doctor was respectful of our decision. The rest of the staff were likewise respectful and caring. They were all non judgmental by letting us choose to leave her in their capable hands. I just could not watch her die. Later, they sent us a condolence card. I thought that was very kind. This is the second time that I had to take a very sick and dying old cat to them. I remembered how the doctor did not pressure us into costly tests and therapies at that time. That differed from another vet office in Novi who wanted us to hospitalize the cat. I appreciated Millpond's pragmatic and reasonable advice at that time and at this time. I would love to continue going to this Vet but he is a good half hour to 45 min drive from where I live...I just can't justify that drive since I have a great Vet closer by. Fast forward to late 2020 and we have an emergency so go to Brighton Town and Country. Liked the ER visit, less expensive, so gave it a shot for a regular vet check up. That experience was horrible so we went back to VCA. I am beyond happy that we went back to VCA. You get what you pay for. While there for a nail trim and other normal routine vet stuff, the doctor noticed my one pup had an extremely high heart rate and needed to go to an ER vet so she could be stabilized. I called vets while waiting for a final bill and walk through of my dog's care and all, including the ER vets, turned me away. She did end up getting into MSU, but I don't believe that would have happened if it weren't for their tech Jessica. I was balling my eyes out not knowing what to do. ALL of the techs were caring and supportive, but Jessica was the one who jumped on the phone and tracked down a vet who would monitor her over night until she could see a cardiologist. I brought my cat here immediately after showing signs of discomfort. The initial diagnosis was related to my cats bladder and essentially kidney stones. I was advised the best treatment is to go into surgery immediately to drain the bladder, clean the urethra as well as shorten the urethra to prevent future complications. When going over the success rates of these types of procedures I was informed by the tech that in the eight years of working there, they'd never lost an animal during this procedure. She must've meant while performing surgery, because the next day on the check up, I was told my cat is experiencing kidney failure and there's no real solution to this except ending my cats discomfort. I understand these things happen but after taking a few days to process this, how this was handled by the staff there was just awful. During the initial diagnosis and discussion, I made sure I was to understand that the $2759.30 I would be spending would cover the entirety of the surgery and follow up visits. I was ensured that amount covers everything in regards to this visit and the follow up. Upon returning to pick up my cat later that evening after his hospitalization, another tech gave me a paper with an estimation of $542.89 for the follow up visit to be scheduled in two weeks. (I don't really have to worry about that anymore) Obviously, this was news to me but I don't really have an option if my cat was to live so I was willing to look past it due to my attachment to my lil guy. I was down to pay whatever. I was then told I would have another follow up the next morning just to ensure everything is fine. Surely this was included in the almost $3k I had spent earlier. It was not. I arrive back at the place of business the following day, and work with a vet I'm a bit more familiar with and we run the tests, and before going over all results, he did his due diligence and follows up with previous vet to go over options but he tells me that despite the previous vets optimism, he does not share the same sentiment as the procedure was effective, but the initial diagnosis was not 100% true to reality in a sense that they did not consider this all was a result of kidney failure. He advises me, best and most realistic route is to put my cat down or continue to run up the cost without a 100% guarantee he will survive and live comfortably. I decide it's best to just listen to him as he really doesn't seem confident we should keep pressing forward. We put my cat down and I'm handed an additional bill of $284.80 All expenses end up being $3054.10, it could have been $3302.19 should the cat have survived (I was only informed again of $2759.30 until AFTER the surgery) I was too depressed and a bit in shock to process the fact that I got swindled by this business. Despite liking to work with the second vet, as I've worked with them before with my dog, I really would never recommend anyone come here.

Always a cynic, I was hesitant to spend the money on acupuncture for my 13 yr old…read moredachshund, Loki, who has chronic back issues, however, as his condition continued to get deteroriate and traditional medicines were not helping, my husband and I decided to give Dr. Matt's practice a try. We couldn't be happier and are now complete believers! Since his acupuncture, Loki has a new lease on life! Dr. Matt is caring, thorough and goes to the extra trouble to explain everything in as much detail as you desire....I asked lots of questions, and all of them were answered. He is very knowledgeable on Eastern medicine and recommended some additional herbal therapies. The needles never seemed to cause Loki any pain and the sessions lasted less than an hour. We had a total of 5 initial treatments, and will do quarterly tuneups going forward. We saw drastic improvements after just 2 sessions. Loki is now pain free and as nimble as a dog 1/2 his age. Steroids never did that for him! I highly recommend giving this practice a try to anyone experiencing chronic issues with their pet.

When my animals have an actual medical problem, Woodland fits them in. They are compassionate and quick. They over tranquilized her, did not support her head and she ended up falling and tore her lower lip off. They then charged me nearly $800 dollars to sew it back on.

The last dental my dog had 3 years ago cost $400. Today I was quoted almost $2,000 for a 14 year old 7.5 pound Shorkie that has most teeth already removed. Very disappointed in the skyrocketing pricing. I hate to have to look for another vet clinic but it looks like I have to.
