First of all I love the doctors and staff at Fowlerville Vet. They are all wonderful. However, ever since they were bought by a corporation prices have skyrocketed. The last dental my dog had 3 years ago cost $400. Today I was quoted almost $2,000 for a 14 year old 7.5 pound Shorkie that has most teeth already removed. Very disappointed in the skyrocketing pricing. I hate to have to look for another vet clinic but it looks like I have to. read more

I have been going to Fowlerville Vet Clinic for over 30 years. I started going to them when they were their old location in Fowlerville. They had always been about the "patient" and their family. When our Great Dane was 9 years old, we saw the same vet every 6 months for blood work. Due to a medication he was on for arthritis. I loved that! My boy knew the vet and was happy to see him. When the day came that he couldn't get up and it was painful for him when we tried getting him up, we knew it was time to let him go. He was 10.5 years old. We called Livingston Vet Clinic and they sent our veterinarian to our house to take care of him. I was charged for the medication, but that was all. Now I have mini dachshunds. The clinic gave me a $900 estimate to fix my male and clean his teeth at the same time! Outrageous!!! Also they charged way more for an office visit and vaccines then previous visits. We all have financial struggles since prices have risen for food, rent, etc. So I chose to leave them so I could continue to care for my dogs, and feed my family! I hope someone from Fowlerville Veterinary Clinic sees this review. My suggestion to them would be to look at all the people who have left their clinic. Or ask the receptionist how many requests from other vets for veterinary records did they get that day, or that week. My new vet said they have gotten a lot of people transferring to them from Fowlerville Veterinary Vet Clinc. They would know since they hear our stories and need to call Fowlerville for records. Maybe if Fowlerville looked at all the people who have left, that they will realize they need to do something different. Or they will continue to lose people. read more

What a fantastic experience at this vet. I initially set my appt for the wrong date online, showed up today thinking my appt was this afternoon. My Cane Corso was suffering from severe hives. They were able to squeeze me in within 10 minutes of arriving. From the staff check in to the visit with the Dr. was absolutely amazing! My dog is 140lbs and has crazy anxiety. They answered all my questions throughly and took their time with my dog. We will be returning for future visits. Very pleased fur mama! read more

The vets and staff are great. The problem is every time my dog has an issue they say they are booked out more than a month or I can pay 80$ now for an "emergency" visit. Come on... Whenever I go to the vet it is for something unexpected so how on earth can i pre-schedule my dog getting sick a month in advance. They did the pre and post pandemic and its really trying to nickel and dime their customers. the "emergency fee" is awful since you have to pay it or wait a month to get seen. Services have changed since Dr Paternoster's unfortunate accident. In the past could call and he would give advice for non emergent cases. Now every pet has to be seen. Barn cat with an ear hematoma; had to catch her to find out they do nothing. "We Just let them heal on there own." Kathy was so great at triaging, knowing what animal was needed to be seen and those that were not. Hope she is enjoying retirement. She is awesome. Traumatized the cat to catch her for no reason and no treatment. My Yorkie needed dental work. I got a call mid day saying the procedure could not be done as the dental x-ray machine was "still not working, we thought it was fixed; it has been down for awhile." I was charged for services (exam fee, lab work) for a procedure that was never going to happen due to diagnostic equipment that was not operational. I feel like they should have made sure the diagnostic equipment was up and running before I dropped my dog off and especially before they ran tests necessary for a procedure that was not going to be completed due issues with the equipment they needed. Interesting side note. I scheduled an appointment that day with another vet who does not use dental x-ray imaging; were able to complete the procedure a few days later for half the estimated cost from FVC. They even called to check on how he was doing the next day. I keep receiving bills for the pre procedure work up from Fowlerville Vet Clinic. I refuse to pay for services that were required for a procedure that was never going to happen due to equipment issues; Lab work that had to be repeated and paid for at another clinic that was able to provide the service; without the use of a "dental x-ray". Shop around for services and costs. My reality after 20 years with FVC. read more

received my notice that FVC was no longer providing services to my animals; after 22 years and one dispute over erroneous fees charged for a dental procedure on my Yorkie. A procedure they could not perform because their dental x-ray machine was not operational; that Was " still not working" per the tech who called me to come pick him up. We can reschedule. I refused to pay for the lab work And office visit fees. (He had lab work the year before, was otherwise healthy. Just needed dental work). They turned me into collections when I explained in writing that I refused to pay for the charges that had to be repeated at another clinic to complete the dental work. A clinic who performed the dental without the added expense of dental x-ray. Fall of 2019 my Arab suddenly had a severe case of laminitis. After their exam I was told she probably had Cushings, and to wait to see how she shed out in the spring. I called another vet for a second opinion; she could barely walk. They immediately started her on Cushings and pain meds; recommended x-rays, was diagnosed with sub solar abscesses on all four. sadly she did not respond to treatment and was humanely euthanized. In 2016, my perfectly healthy 21 year old Tennessee Walker choked twice in 3 weeks on grass. I asked FVC if he should be scoped; was told horses sometimes choke ( teeth were good, otherwise healthy, not grain fed.) Again I got a second opinion; a scope procedure with a diagnosis of pyloric stricture that they could not pass the scope through. Mash diet; sadly that would not pass through the stricture; they contacted MSU, feeding tube was the only solution. No quality of life for a horse; he was also humanely euthanized. These things happen; I do not blame FVC for the outcome. I do blame them for overlooking serious situations that required a second opinion and aggressive treatment. Had I ignored their symptoms and not reached out for a second opinion; how long would they have suffered? Yet I was dismissed from their practice for not paying $100 charges associated with a procedure that was not completed. read more

This review is specifically for our most recent visit and Dr. Colleen Beach. FVC has been my BF's vet of choice before I came on scene. I have logged a few annual visits to do the usual shot updates and found the clinic to be adequate/okay thus far. Nothing 5 star until yesterday. We brought in 3 dogs and were led to their larger exam room (convenient) with 2 benches for people with multiple pets. Enter Dr. Beach. She gave all 3 dogs a very thorough exam and addressed EVERY concern. In detail. She offered up possible causes, expected treatment plans, alternatives, prices, and just a super amount of info that really showed she keeps up on her stuff and loves to educate pet owners on how to best take care of their pets. I love great info marketing and I really admired how she offered value to the information she provided along with solutions, treatments, and products offered in-house at FVC. I trusted that she just wasn't trying to sell/upsell just for the sake of profit. It was more like these are the options, here's what we offer, here are our prices--all with no pressure or guilt tactics. If I had a heart problem, and Dr. Beach was a human heart surgeon, she would be the one to operate on my ticker. The time Dr. B spent with us was impressive. We were there for a little over an hour total from car unload to load although it seemed longer (not a bad thing cost/value-wise). The total office visit with all shots and a # of extras for 3 dogs was about $340.00, last year's was under $270.00. Truly, if I had endless extra cash, I would've probably signed up for all Dr. B recommended. lol I want to add that I took 2 of the 3 dogs to Affordable Vet Services in A2 a couple of months ago (due to lots of raving Yelp reviews on care and price) to get an alternate opinion on some issues they were having at the time and prior. Review soon to come for that place (would recommend as well). Anyway, I had compared bills from last year's FVC to AVS's after the fact and Fowlerville Veterinary Clinic's pricing was a actually a little better than AVS's. FVC is more of a rural vet (they see horses, etc.) and is a little bit of a drive from my homebase, but Dr. Beach finally made it really worth the trip today. If you need a first or 2nd opinion on your pet's health, you can't go wrong with either place. Just make sure you see Dr. Beach if you choose to go to FVC! Other miscellaneous info: freestanding larger facility, office visit price for extra dogs was half ($21 vs. $42 1st dog), toddler/kids room with toys + books to pass the time (nice touch when you have to haul along a 2-1/2 y/o), clean/bright/airy/modern, front desk personnel was just SLIGHTLY more personable than the staff at AVS in A2 which is not saying much (again, adequate...I guess), there is a sign to not use your cell phone in the waiting area. read more

Handles my pit bull very roughly just to get us out of there quickly so they can turn the room and make more money. One vet told me the only thing they could do for a dogs allergies were antibiotics. They missed treatments my dogs were supposed to get and when I reviewed the bill on my way out I said I knew there was more that that, they checked, and had missed giving her a booster shot she was supposed to get that day. Girls at front desk are not friendly AT ALL. I switched to Town Center Vet in Howell. When they reviewed my records they told me so much more about previous tests performed at Fowlerville that they had never mentioned. I've taken 2 dogs here for the past 15 years. Last year my 14 year old dog was having seizures. When I called after hours the numbers they listed for emergencies were disconnected & the other number no answer! After today I think I may have to find a new Vet. My dog ate a bar a soap and I called and asked if I should be concerned & what I should do. They wouldn't answer my question just referred me to Animal poison control who wants $65.00 to answer a question. I called Fowlerville Vet back and was told I could bring him in for a x-ray & talk to the Vet would cost me over $140! I only wanted them to answer the Question "is Dove soap harmful" & what to look for in his behavior. Very disappointed after all those years and money I've paid them. I've lived in Chicago for 25 years and thought I've seen some amazing Veterinarians, but it wasn't until the day I met Dr. Daniel Paternoster D.V.D. did I rethink the others before. I have always referred to Veterinarians as doctors, because they are, and more passionate and likable than human doctors usually. I brought my Layla (Presa Canario) in on short notice with a lump on her bottom side, and I was fearing for the worse being she's almost 9 years old and a big dog at 132 lbs. Her feet were swollen and I was a wreck thinking the infection had set in to her body, and not knowing how serious. Dr. Paternoster was going to attend to Layla's needs and when he entered the room there was a feeling that came over me that I knew we came to the right place. Dr. Paternoster explained everything as he went along trying to relieve my fear and also wanting me to understand the science of the methods he was performing. I learned so much from this visit and he took me along the path of his discoveries, to the blood test and exam. We talked about her history more after things came clear on some of the test, and he discovered that the lump was a gland that was damaged from a bite by a raccoon when Layla chased after the masked bandit in Chicago, and the discharge had nowhere to go. The medications were filled right there and were very cheap and Layla was almost herself within a day and within two days was looking forward to a walk in the woods looking for squirrels. Here is the major thing that pushed this visit to a sense of remarkable moment in my life. I mentioned earlier that I thought Layla might have diabetes and we spoke about that I would stop by the pharmacy and get some testing stripes to test her urine. Well, while Dr. Paternoster walked me outside with Layla, Layla decided to relieve herself on the bush by the door, and before I could say sorry, Dr. Paternoster cupped a handful of urine with his hand and went inside to test it. Well, you can guess how surprised and amazed I was about his efforts already, and before I could grasp his commitment for animals, he was at the door again telling me Layla is all clear and isn't diabetic. Dr. Daniel Paternoster is not only the best Veterinarian that I've met, but one of the most amazing humans I've ever encountered. Hearing about how six months before my visit he was hit by a car riding his bike and almost died, I couldn't believe how incredibly amazing this man is and how his passion and love for his work makes Dr. Daniel Paternoster a hero in my eyes for living and for finding your passion in life. If you love your animals and want the best for them, you will find the Veterinarians and staff at Fowlerville Veterinary Clinic will love them too and care for their needs. Just to tell you a bit about us, we have two wonderful dogs that are a part of our family and we wanted to have the best vet care possible for them. We don't mess around when it comes to our dogs. We have been very happy with the level and quality of care provided by the vets here. They are kind, caring and knowledgeable. They will give you several options and call to follow up on how the dogs are doing if there had been an illness. The receptionists are super friendly and the vet techs are awesome. I have been coming to the Fowlervile Vet Clinic ever since they saved my cat's life about 15 years ago. Just took my two little dogs to see Dr. Scott Butts at the Fowlerville Vet and had such a good experience that I wanted to share it. I was worried about my Shih Tzu's eyes and Dr. Scott was very thorough in diagnosing her. He answered all my questions and I came out of the visit more knowledgable about my little pups. I was very impressed because he truly cares about his patients. I drive about 20 miles for my appointments and I do not mind because I trust them with my animals lives. read more

I used Dr. Dean Gibbons from this clinic for a pre-purchase horse exam. This was my first horse and the clinic recommendation came from a friend. He instisted on "saving money and didn't x-ray the horse". Two weeks after purchasing her (she's smart and wonderful) she was lame. My Vet told me she had Cushing's disease and probable navicular. Put her on pergolide (solved the Cushings), but navicular is a problem, Getting full panel of x-rays in 2 days. she has been on rest 2 months when I bought her, and 2 months now. Had Dr. Gibbons done a thorough honest exam I would't have these problems now (also the seller lied, of course). DO NOT USE FOR PRE-PURCHASE EXAM! read more

Been going to Fowlerville Vet for many years and loved it when Dr. Dan was there but ever since there's been a long stream of changing vets some good some bad. My biggest complaint is with the staff. Had a hound with two deep wounds to his side that I called Monday morning to see if they would look at him that evening, they said no they were booked and then told me they couldn't the following day either but put me on a cancellation list and said to go to Ann Arbor. I've been a customer for years and this is how I was treated. I ended up calling Town and Country Vet in Howell who have never seen me before and were willing to fit me in that night. Wonderful vets and staff who called the next day asking how she was doing, made a follow up for two days later and re-evaluated for we thought we were going to need surgery. Lucky for my pooch and me they felt we had it under control and it would continue to heal. read more
