They do really really good job here at making me feel as a customer, that my dog is safe in their care while I'm work. Once in a while, I'll get a text from them about monitoring like "hey just noticed _____ and we'll keep an eye out and let you know if you should come take him home" It also makes me feel safe in the interview + onboarding process that they have for their dogs and vetting out their behavior and interactions with other dogs. At first it felt strict but then it felt really good to know this was the process to get in. I'd rather than then a free-for-all! Reliable and responsive if you need anything but most of all they care about the dogs they look after. Grooming has been awesome - they have someone that knows how to cut Wheatens, which is nice! read more

DO NOT BRING YOUR DOG HERE. I would never trust this facility with my dog. One of the biggest red flags was finding multiple ticks on dogs and bringing it to management's attention, only to feel that the issue was not taken seriously and that owners were not being properly informed. As a dog owner, I would want to know immediately if my dog had been exposed to ticks. There was also an obvious level of favoritism among both dogs and staff. Certain dogs seemed to receive all the attention while others were overlooked. If your dog isn't one of the favorites, don't expect the same level of care and supervision. The trial process feels completely pointless. Despite having evaluations in place, dogs with poor behavior were still accepted, creating unnecessary risks for both staff and other dogs. It often felt like filling spots was more important than maintaining a safe environment. Overall, I left with serious concerns about the standards being upheld here. When you're paying someone to care for your dog, transparency, safety, and consistency should be the bare minimum. Based on my experience, I did not see those standards being met, and I would strongly advise dog owners to look elsewhere. read more

I parked in their lot by mistake. I have a very large truck that will not fit in a regular spot. I was looking for a new restaurant in the vicinity. I backed in not reading the signs. The owner comes out after being tipped off by a customer where I might be and eventually makes a ruckus in the restaurant I'm patronizing after stampeding past the hostesses at Karma. The owner is extremely rude and disrespectful in this establishment and deserves no service from any clientele. She has a very bad attitude and will not take any criticism or even listen to you. I eventually succumbed to her request and moved my vehicle but the way she approaches potential customers or difficult situations is a telltale warning sign that you are not welcome here. After being a loyal customer for over six months and sending our dog there for all the additional evaluation visits (for a fee), we were told our dog's upcoming holiday reservation is canceled! There are no other options at this point and we our travel arrangements were long-since booked! Our dog's offense? She's sometimes too playful with other dogs (not aggressive and not unsafe to other dogs or staff). Another customer suggested it was because our dog was being de-prioritized behind other dog owners who are spending more money there. That makes so much more sense!!! Just wrong! I have to say I am walking away from my experience at Town Dog completely confused/irritated. My dogs had been attending Town dog for over 6MO. We brought them once per week, plus boarded them there..I really loved this place, so it's sad that things went south. One of my dogs is a more nervous/shy dog, they knew it and I highlighted it several times during the onboarding process. Still he was cleared for daycare. Over the next 6mo my dogs went frequently to daycare - never an issue. One day, the owner of this place calls me - it was a little over a week since my dogs had last been to Town dog. She proceeded to tell me that they had concerns about one of my dogs behavior/safety at daycare for a while, he was not a good fit. I cannot wrap my head around why, if there was ANY concern about my dogs safety/well-being, they would wait 1 week since they last saw him to contact me, and not tell me right when I picked him up? When I asked the owner why no one said anything all of this time, she said she had no idea. For the cost of this place, I would expect better communication and safety standards to be in place. If your dog is nervous/shy, I would highly advise against town dog. read more

This place is notorious for kicking dogs out that don't spend enough "time" (i.e. money $$$) there. My dog has been going for 2 years, mostly for overnight boarding. We are not regulars for their daycare service - which makes us a less desirable client. After our dogs last board they told us he seemed stressed and we NEEDED to set up (and pay for) 3 daycare days over 2 weeks for further "evaluation." And at the end of the 3 days he was kicked out anyway. The reasons? "Excessive panting" (He's a 90lb black bernedoodle - he pants....a lot), he seeks out workers to be petted (unacceptable apparently), and he also stood up abruptly when another dog walked by. They actually recorded and showed me this 3 second video of him being startled by another dog as "proof" that he is stressed and no longer fits in at Town Dog. So if you have a dog that breathes, likes to be pet, and sometimes stands up and walks away from other dogs, save yourself the time and headache of dealing with this place and the awful owner. Wish we had known about their reputation before we started there. read more

My Yorkie was brought there who has been groomed elsewhere hundreds of times and they absolutely ruined him. It is an abomination of a dog grooming, especially for a hair-breed like a Yorkie. Instructions were given to keep a fluffy round face and keep ears full. He is horrendous looking and doesn't look like what everyone on earth knows as a Yorkie. So upsetting. read more

Regretfully I write this. Have brought my dog, Linus, to many different groomers in the last, in the Andover area, and wanted to try this place out, due to good customer reviews and fair prices. While I will say the phone call to set my appointment was pleasant. That is where the good experience began and ended. WILL NEVER BRING MY DOG BACK long story short- scolded for showing up early was told to wait outside. Was told barking was not allowed and I wouldn't be allowed into daycare if my dog barks. Feel like my dog was targeted for barking. They put a gentle leader on him to stop him- that's not a muzzle it's a walking tool. Told facility to not give him a ball bc he will become possessive. Watched them hand him a ball. Employee saw I was upset and followed me outside and said I am sorry the owner can be a Bitch. Not a good place to attend if employees are telling that to clients. I waited until my dog was 7 years old before attempting daycare because he is quite literally my child and does suffer from separation anxiety. I never found a place that I felt 100% confident he'd love and be safe at and taken care of like he was their own. Not until I saw the sign for Town Dog go up anyway! We were one of the first clients when Town Dog opened. I loved that they do a "try out" so that they know how every dog will behave in the pack. The owners and employees really understand dog behavior and LOVE them. They always greet us with excitement and have always made me and my "Lil Jack" (as they've dubbed him) feel like we are special. He knows what "Go to school" means and when we pull in he can't contain his excitement. For a little guy with separation anxiety any other time I leave the house, he drags me into Town Dog and never looks back! We moved up to Merrimack, NH and I couldn't find a place that held a candle to Town Dog. I hope one day they expand, but until then we love love love coming here. Thank you for loving these dogs and putting a priority on their well-being and socializing to bring out the best in them. I wish this daycare nothing but continued success always! read more

I rarely ever write a bad review but now after two bad experiences I figured I have to. Apparently this place is like getting into Harvard. Most unaccommodating place I have ever dealt with. The first dog I attempted to set up daycare for was rejected which I sort of understood because he was elderly and had health issues. I was just trying to give him some play time because he loved other dogs. I wasn't happy but still my first experience with them my elderly dog was rejected. Fast forward a year later and I try to set up a new puppy for daycare. I couldn't possibly be rejected for a healthy well behaved puppy right? Nope again rejected because I cannot get my dog there for an evaluation at 7am. I'm sorry but this is post COVID era and I do not have the usual child care available to accommodate this ridiculous rule. I can do absolutely any day but it has to be 9AM or later. How can a business be so unaccommodating? I got the sense from the conversation that they were trying to talk me out of sending my dog. Talking about how a lot of dogs are not cut out for daycare and she could possibly get kennel cough and other health issues while being there. I felt like I was bothering them even inquiring. They listed more road blocks than positive things about the facility. My dog is friendly, well trained, all vaccinations up to date, and I can adhere to all rules. Nowhere online does it say I have to drop the dog off at 7AM. Honestly 7am for an evaluation is nuts for working people who have kids during this pandemic. Even if there was no pandemic how can you do 7AM when you have to get kids ready for school at that time. Also I'm not going to wake my child up at 6AM and get them ready to drag them into a public place during a pandemic. I don't even bring my child to the grocery store during these times. How can you be a day care when you cannot accommodate someones work schedule? You are there to provide a service to working people so their dogs don't have to be home alone. I can come by any day! Literally any day I just cannot do between 7AM and 9AM. That can't be the only window of opportunity? There is no other option? When I said I cannot do this time because of my child and husband's schedule she abruptly stopped the conversation and said that this isn't going to work out and this isn't the place for you. WTH? Seriously? That is it? Just cut me off after a 25 minute phone call like I said some egregious statement? Great customer service (Insert eye roll). Honestly that is BS and sounds lazy and silly. I am up at 5AM and my husband leaves at 6AM but I cannot leave my house until my child care arrives at 9AM. I could even do 7AM on the weekends but they can't accommodate that either. I had an easier time applying to Pike school for my human child than this place. So if your dog isn't absolute perfection and you can accommodate getting up at the crack of dawn to have a dog evaluated at the most inconvenient time even though they are open all day every day then seek elsewhere. read more

My chocolate lab, Coco has been going to Town Dog for the past 2 years. She loves it! The staff is awesome, place is clean and my dog always comes home happy! I have a hard time believing the negative reviews because we have had only positive experiences. They are at full capacity quite often so I think they also have a lot of other happy customers.
