Went today, New Years Day with my father. Every time we go out to eat I say...Lets go to Kitty's. Today I got the go ahead. Yum. I always order the Lobster Pie with Salad and Pasta for my sides. My father got what he asked for "Italian Sampler" with spinach garlic and ziti. I have never had a bad meal here. Been coming since I was a child. I don't think we go often enough. They have keno and it's fun to play. There are so many players that they have an employee who runs the tickets as her sole job. My father said he would never order the sampler again. He loved everything on the plate but his complaint was that it was TOO BIG a portion lol. You wont go away hungry and you will always have enough for the Midnight Snack or tomorrows breakfast or lunch. Much better than leftover pizza. The waitress has been waiting on us for over 30 years...maybe 40+ years. Always excellent service. I can't wait to go back for another Lobster Pie! read more

Large portions and delicious food . I have been going there since I was about 8yrs old. I'm now 80 and still go there all the time.

This was my second time at Kitty's in N Reading and both times the experience was sensational! The staff as well as the patrons went the extra mile to assist me. Let me explain: this was my husband's first dining experience in at least five years as he prefers to stay home. He is wheelchair bound and the doors don't open automatically as most eating establishments, but there were patrons willing to help me both entering and exiting. The host sat us at a table so that he could remain in his wheelchair. The waitress was extremely helpful and went the extra mile when she realized he needed reading glasses that we did not bring with us. She actually let him borrow her reading glasses so that he could read the menu!! We each had one of their famous mai tais which are not for a lightweight, if you know what I mean. We had to add a little water to our drinks so that we could drink them. My husband ordered the whole belly clams which were the best clams I've ever tasted. The batter was light and they were cooked to perfection. Most restaurants I find, overcook them. I had the swordfish, which did not disappoint. It was absolutely delicious, the portions were generous and the presentation was attractive. The strawberry shortcake was equally delicious, made with homemade biscuits and real whipped cream! My wife and I went to kitties Sunday and we were both pleasantly surprised. She was had few glasses of wine and I was drinking Grey goose bloody Mary's. There was subbed. I added a little salt and pepper, but I always do that there. Chicken palm was absolutely gorgeous in the sauce that was on there was absolutely sticking right to the ribs. My wife had fettuccine chicken noodles with broccoli and it was superb the fried raviolis. I couldn't get enough. This was a recommended place from a friend. Unfortunately, not a huge fan... Maybe is was just the time that we came in but they servers were not very helpful. It took awhile for someone to come help us a sat us down. Since they were busy we ultimately decided to order two large pizzas to-go. We were really excited to try their pizzas and they made us the wrong ones and we did not realize until we got back home and opened the pizza box. Literally they only made us cheese pizzas and that was not what we paid for at all... Learned our lesson to open the box before leaving. The cheese pizza was very mid. Probably would have enjoyed it more if we were able to get the specialty pizzas that we ordered and paid for. I and others I know have had bad diarrhea after dining at this restaurant. We think that we have tracked it down to the meat sauce. We all had it when we have gotten sick. Maybe they should take care to drain the meat well before making the sauce. It most certainly be too much fat in the sauce that makes us sick. Always attentive, plenty of clean plates napkins, never an empty plate left or glass not filled. Quality or quantity? Kittys seemed to choose quantity over quality, which left much to be desired. I came here for a birthday party, and the food was extremely disappointing. I ordered steak tips, and they were some of the worst I ever had, as some were cold, and others were overcooked and lacked any flavor/seasoning. My 77-year old mom has fond memories of going here as a kid and even sometimes a bit pre-pandemic with her brother before he passed. We were in the area, so I thought it would be a nice nostalgic place to get lunch. And it was. This place is definitely old fashioned, homey feeling, and piles on the food. The chicken parm sub I ordered was so big, I had to use a knife and fork to eat the excess. I got 3.5 meals out of it, and I'm a sizable guy. My mom enjoyed her ribs, and got two meals out of them. Can I give a negative zero? Where do I start? Entering building? Funeral party group pre-planned gathering and upon arrival, there was no set up for the group to sit. Some were seated in the general population of the restaurant and then as more of us came in, we asked to be moved to a proper location as it is a funeral after gathering. The two lady servers had no idea about it? They started getting visually frustrated, arguing amongst each other. We all moved over to the back room area where there's a full bar. After of course waiting for a birthday to end. Completely unacceptable. They had two servers for at least 30 guests. Two. And these servers seemed to be also working other parts of restaurant. Asked for coffee, I put her out by asking and she said I'll see if we can "find" you some. Then the other server brought me two cups of black coffee. We also ordered before the dinner menu started. And I'm quite sure we were billed dinner prices. We were never given an option, we were never told would you like the small portion or the large portion, which is lunch or dinner? I informed the server that I had a gluten allergy and she seemed to be oblivious. I do not want salad, but she brought a salad and I'm sure we were charged. Two people at my table ordered chicken Alfredo with the pasta and their chicken was cold in the center, which goes to tell me that all the stuff is precooked and they microwave it . All pasta meals at the table were floating w at least half an inch of oil at the bottom of their plate. The lobster mac & cheese was hard and crunchy, which means it was already precooked and they heated it up in an oven in a bowl. My salmon was stuck to a metal plate which means it was precooked and old salmon that they stuck in an oven and broiled it and it stuck to the dish. And large portions of salmon when I didn't ask for that in fact, I was not given the option. The waitress would take your order not talk to you. Just start walking away and yapping at other people about other things and then she never came back. tasteless food server never came to clear anything off of our table. The other guests in the party ordered drinks, at other tables, she would carry three or four martinis with olives in them and spill them as she walked, and she would just put them on the table randomly not even in front of the guest that ordered it. I'm quite sure there was overcharging on the bill. Again, why were we charged dinner prices for meals when everything was ordered during lunch? I did check with the restaurant and Saturday has a lunch menu. And lunch is up until 4 PM and we ordered well before that. I can imagine drinks being put on bill never ordered. This was a funeral gathering, and it was very disappointing . I had to go and get to go boxes on my own and ask for bags out in the restaurant myself. we had all the salads that we were given that nobody even wanted and I couldn't see throwing them in the trash so they will feed the wild rabbits out in the yard. The dressing was horrible. The bread that they gave you are rolls from Market Basket. In fact, they're not even rolls they are the type of "buns" that you make a sandwich with at the deli. They're not the kind you put bread and butter together and eat with your meal.. and you wanna know how I know that? Because they gave us a role with one of the meals in a market basket plastic bag that holds the bread. Imagine that? Still with the plastic clip on it from the store. Now let's talk about the dessert . The lava cake was a hard, stale chocolate, mini Bundt cake with some fudge in the middle, the brownies with ice cream was ice cream that is the lowest quality and they probably also bought that at Market Basket.. then upcharge you for everything. **** Per restaurant mgr reply below, I counted guests we had less than 30 max. Not 50. Servers were not doing their job. Food was served that wasn't ordered. Salads, mashed potatoes, steak. Extras not ordered. Two coffees only ordered one. Charged dinner prices but ordered well before 4pm. And to say they did a favor by giving the other area? Gimme a break. There was one table on a 16th bday lunch not an entire room. Room was empty. Are you saying the salmon is properly cooked stuck to the plate? Oil floating in pasta? Should I go on? You ought to refund a percentage off bill is what you should do. Have your server write the order down and not use her, as she quoted, photographic memory. The bread roll with a to go meal was in a market basket bread roll bag. You want a pic? And who said reserved months ago? My mother died on 7.30, luncheon was 8.10. Your server never cleared our table. When we asked for boxes she pointed to broken ones behind us on the table that I put our dirty dishes. Is that because she was waiting tables out front and ours? Maybe schedule more servers to accommodate patrons. Whether 25 planned and 30 showing up, clearly your establishment was under staffed. read more

Unfortunately, the food is just plain awful. I ordered the steak tips. Kitty's should be embarrassed and ashamed. What they serve as steak tips ARE NOT steak tips, not even close. I got tiny, tiny bits of meat, all improperly cooked: overcooked, tough, poorly seasoned. They were so bad, I just didn't eat many and gave them back. I was about to eat the refrigerated leftover antipasto salad this morning from last night's meal. The lettuce is brown withered and noticeable NOT edible. The service could have been better too, several server errors. I still enjoy Kitty's, but not serving fresh food is an issue the head chef has to correct. By the looks of the lettuce, I think I know why I had stomach pain last night. What is the chef doing, saving lettuce for days and then serving it? Or not making fresh salad every day? I haven't been to Kitty's in about 20 years. we were in the area and I remember their steak being actually awesome. we went in at about 4 o'clock and were seated immediately, but that's where the good stops. I ordered the montreal steak. i have one requirement.. Make it rare. It came out as medium. I didn't send it back, because it was absolutely tasty. I told our server Oscar about it. He offered to take it back but it was good and I was hungry. The entire order came out by piece mail. One dish at a time. By the way, that is the last time we saw Oscar until we wanted the check. We had an event in the function room this past weekend, food and staff was great but if you plan on dancing bring your own system! The system stopped working one hour into the event, so we could not play music! Big disappointment!!!!! No one knew how to fix it. It has been a while, in the past this was our go to when we worked in Reading. We were in the area and said, hey, let's give it a shot, very busy, both bars, got bar seats and had a great time! Everything was 100%, Steak tip sub was beautiful and was lunch the next day it was huge, the antipasto salad with their dressing was a blast from the past, Devine, and their dressing, yum. This restaurant has been around forever!!! Food has always been good. I went last weekend and ordered eggplant parmesan. They start you with a huge salad! Excellent salad dressing and delicious dinner rolls. My main course came, a huge portion of eggplant!!! Not oily and crispy!!! The house gravy is excellent!!! That is what makes the eggplant!! Prices were good for the portions!!! Go to the north end and see what you get!!! 90% less food and a huge $$$ bill. Guarantee you won't leave Kitty's hungry!! I will visit again. read more

My family and I made reservations for Easter and still had to wait close to an hour. Food wasn't as we expected . I order fried shrimp onion rings and spinach with garlic. The spinach was drenched in olive oil it was horrible. The fried shrimp was over cooked the batter tasted like the oil had to be changed I took it off the shrimp was so dried that it was like rubber. Two others ordered shrimp scampi that also drenched in olive oil chicken parm was ok. Our server she was great though. But never again would we return there.
