They have terrible customer service. Every time you call the person answering the phone has zero answers and says someone will call you back when they can, but then we never get a call back. They don't pay attention to the dogs well-being nearly enough, for example we have been leaving our puppy there and have told them that he is having diarrhea but every time we pick him up and ask if his poop was normal they says, "oh yeah, everything was fine" or "I don't know, I didn't work with him" and then when he gets home he continues to have diarrhea. They don't interact with their clients at all, at the end of the day they are just telling you what you need to hear to leave them alone. The only positive thing I can say is that our puppy comes home looking happy and he is tired from playing. Edit: 3 days after posting this review, instead of reaching out to me they called and tried to bully my fiancee into changing it deleting this review. The trainers are outstanding! I adopted my puppy about a month ago and I noticed she was a little timid around other dogs so I figured I would try out daycare to get her to become more social and not scared around other dogs. Zoey comes home super happy and pooped! I have had many interactions with the owner and her staff members, they are beyond knowledgeable and happy to always provide advice (especially for a new dog mom, like myself.) My dog contracted an upper respiratory tract infection at this facility, and every dog owner received a rudely worded email explaining that if their dog had been diagnosed, he would not be allowed back without a vets letter of health. While I understand the need for this, it was very rudely worded, especially as my dog CONTRACTED THE SICKNESS FROM THIS FACILITY. It was confirmed by my veterinarian that they'd seen many dogs recently acquire the condition after staying at bark n roll. I was initially willing to give them the benefit of the doubt when they told me I was not allowed to see the inside of the facility, but now I see why. He will never stay there again. read more

We started working with Francine when Leeloo was just a baby. She had gotten into a crazy biting phase and we were looking for help resolving it. We also just wanted to get her some basic training - sit, down, stay, etc. Francine was AMAZING. She worked with me to find a convenient time. We did six weeks of training with Leeloo and she learned basic commands like sit, stay, down, touch, etc. She learned how to work with the clicker and quickly figured out she'd get treats. Francine provided worksheets with all the info we went over in class so that we could practice. She outlined a great practice schedule so that we'd be prepared each week to move onto the next command. Leeloo LOVED Francine. She would get so, so happy when she'd come over. A few months later we did a six week group obedience class at the new Bark-N-Roll Academy. It covered a lot of the same stuff, but it was an excellent refresher/reinforcement class, and really helped Leeloo work around distractions. Leeloo earned her AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy certification from that class, and now we're working towards getting her her AKC Canine Good Citizen certificate. I'd still be taking classes at Bark-N-Roll with Leeloo if we hadn't moved far away from their location. :-( I keep in touch with Francine, though, and we're planning to stop by one of the fall dog-friendly street fairs to say hello. I lived in North Reading briefly and adopted my dog Bacardi in Feb 2014. I used their walking services since I wasn't always home during the day and wasn't always sure I'd get him a good walk when I got home in the evening. They were awesome! B came from a shelter and had been poorly taken care of so his fur wasn't so great and they had no problem putting a jacket in him on the cold snowy days. They also sent me pics and emails after his walks, which I loved. I loved their service and would still use them if I hadn't moved so far away from the area. read more

The people who work here are friendly from what I've seen. But I often found through personal experience that they have the ability to overstep. They take training upon themselves with your dog without consulting with owners about how they want their own dog trained or if they want them trained while at their daycare service. When you prompt them to change commands to what you use in your home they will respond, which I appreciate, but there should be a conversation about training before they take it upon themselves to do it how they see fit. They also say that puppies must be neutered by 7 months to continue utilizing their services which is against most breed and vet recommendations which makes me question their "expertise" of dogs. My dog also contracted KENNEL COUGH after utilizing their daycare services even though he was vaccinated which means it's bacterial and not viral. Overall, they seem like people who care about your dog but at the end of the day I saw too many red flags and won't be utilizing their services anymore. read more

I can't say enough great things about BNR! I tell them all the time, but wanted to put it out there for anyone looking for a dog walker. We were enthusiastically referred to Francine and took our dog to her 3-part "Grrrrowly Dogs" course after our dog started being randomly reactive at the park. We learned a lot about our dog, how to introduce and practice some positive behaviors, and most importantly, what we can and can't ask him to do. After we moved to Reading, we've used BNR for the past 3 years and have been absolutely delighted with the level of service we've received. We get a specific note after each visit, confirming the walk, activities on the walk, water refills, etc. We've had a number of different walkers and they've all been so positive- I really feel like they love the pups they work with! Sometimes if our dogs still seem wound up, they'll take them into the backyard and throw the ball around a bit to get more energy out. Finally, the administration and scheduling have been so accommodating and pleasant. We've screwed up a few times on our end (forgetting to cancel or forgetting to add a walk until the last minute) and they're always so happy to help. I was getting ready to send a thank you email to the owner Francine, but I realized that while I have sent her several thank you emails over the years, getting the word out to the greater community is even more valuable. I adopted a challenging dog with many issues several years ago, and Francine and Tracy both provided me with excellent guidance and she turned out to be a wonderful dog. When we moved to North Reading a year later she was always well cared for with all the bark n roll walkers. When she suddenly died at the young age of 5, the emotional support from Francine, and condolences from the whole bark n roll team meant a lot to our family. They clearly care about their jobs and the dogs they work with. Fast forward a month and we adopted a chocolate lab who turned out to have very severe anxiety issues. We were terrified that we would not be able to keep her as we were struggling to keep her safe, but with the guidance from Francine and Amy she has been able to thrive and is a completely new dog. We never could have done this without the support from bark n roll. Yesterday, our dog Maggie, who we have had for only 6 weeks ended up loose after an unfortunate accident. While missing dogs of MA was helpful in providing advice, I also immediately reached out to Bark n Roll and they mobilized to help us and FAST. There was a facebook post circulating almost immediately, and the first person was over here helping within a half hour. I know that there were at least 5-6 staff members searching the woods yesterday, maybe more that I did not even see. There is an art to bringing home a lost dog, and they clearly know what to do. They weren't just walking on paved roads and grass, they were in mud, got scratched by thorns, and if they ended up anything like me they have a lot of bug bites. It was truly an effort above and beyond. Luckily Maggie found her way back to our property overnight and I was able to find her hiding spot. But I know that Bark n Roll was ready to help me again today if it had been needed. Every single walker and trainer that I have dealt with is incredibly dedicated to helping our pups, and are incredibly compassionate (and also they are great at training humans too, because I think we need more training than dogs sometimes!). Edited to add this: As a bonus the walkers all take the BEST pictures of the dogs. I take a million photos of my dog, but the ones that end up being phone backgrounds, and even the one that ended up in a memorial shadow box of the dog that we lost, are all taken by the walkers. read more

We LOVE Bark n' Roll! My dog, Jackson has never been so excited to go to camp & literally cries when I pick him up and drive away. Their customer service is amazing and when your dog is at camp they update you in the afternoon to let you know how your pup is doing. It's great that they are also working on training exercises with the dogs and it's not just a place where your dog gets bored and lounges around. Jackson also trains with Felicia and she is amazing! He gets so excited to see her and in 2 sessions has already improved so much on his walking & other exercises. He is boarding there next week and I am feeling happy that he will be at a place that he loves and I trust all the workers to take care of my dog as much as we would at home! read more

My dog possibly contracted kennel cough (vet confirmed) when boarded here as well as the possibility of parvo (not confirmed but has the symptoms - vomiting and bloody diarrhea included). Keep in mind that you have to schedule the tour in advance should you wish to see the facilities since most of the dogs are not in the crate during the day, for this reason I cannot comment of the cleanliness of the place, but have been assured by the owner that they adhere to the highest sanitary standards. Clients are also not allowed to pass through the front door. I wish they could improve on the parent's experience of the place, but have no doubt that my dog enjoyed his time there, playing with his little buddies. I am basing this review based on the fact that my dog got very sick POSSIBLY from something he contracted there, not of the actual place itself, or any of their staff. read more

Bark n' Roll is terrific. We have used many of their services - dog walking, play group, house sitting, and attending a seminar. Everyone at BnR is terrific. They're extremely friendly and professional, and genuinely care for our dogs. Sarah walks the dogs most days and sends an email after each walk to let me know how the walk went, which is great. She always refills the water bowl and goes the extra mile and moves the dogs' beds in or out if the weather has changed. One of our dogs goes for the weekly playgroup and really enjoys that. The house sitter will either stay or stop by several times during the day, and sends an email at the end of the visits to let us know how the dogs are doing, which is wonderful for peace of mind. I attended a seminar about dogs and babies that Francine, who owns BnR, ran, and it was informative and full of useful tips. This place is the best! I have used them for some one-on-one training for my extremely anxious little dog, Cinder, and she has definitely improved and gotten more comfortable at home. She warmed up to Francine almost immediately (no surprise!) and I still use the techniques that Francine taught us! I also use them for dog walking, and it is the best. Laura and Allie have quickly made friends with my two little fuzzballs, and send me emails every day letting me know how the walk went. They often send pictures, too, which makes me smile so much - what an awesome part of the day to see a photo of my little ones having such a good time outside! When we adopted our labradoodle Rumples last July he was already 4 1/2 years old. His breeder highly recommended we find a trainer to help Rumples transition to a new family having been with another one for so long. I had no idea where to begin and started searching locally for dog walkers/trainers when I can upon Bark n' Roll in North Reading. I read Francine's amazing reviews... she sounded exactly like what we were looking for so I called her and set up an appointment to meet with her. The reviews were right. Francine is the BEST! From the beginning Rumples felt comfortable with Francine. She has a wonderful calmness about her that puts him at ease. Because he was older he was fairly well trained but we decided to go ahead and proceed with a six session basic obedience training course to help initiate a bond with Rumples and get a feel for his temperment. This enabled us to learn about Rumples and take cues from him with the help of Francine's guidance. She was also very receptive to me anytime I called her with questions about Rumples transition into our home When I would apologize for calling she would say"that's what I'm here for, no problem, I am happy to help." Francine and her very caring staff are also fabulous when it comes to other Pet Services! We have used Francine and her staff when we are going to be away from home for an extended period of time during the day. We trust them completely and they have never let us down. They walk Rumples, make sure he is fed and his water is changed and always have time to play with him. Within hours of his visit I am always sent an email giving me the status of their visit with Rumples and it always puts my mind at ease to know that while we are out for the day, Rumples has been looked after. I have just been informed that they have added overnight sitting to their list of services so we have already booked them for this summer. We are the parents of 2 very quirky sisters from Indiana who are full of energy and exuberance. We needed some help to get them to stop pulling on the lead and to be a little less crazy when they encountered other dogs. When we first met Francine she was very encouraging that with time and patience these behaviors could be changed. We began a course in basic obedience and also had her come to the house twice a week to take the girls for a walk. Since working with Francine, we have noticed many positive changes in the dogs' behavior as a whole. As for our original goals, pulling on the lead is a distant memory. In the off chance one or both pull, we now have cues to remind them and they come right back to loose leash walking. Socialization is ongoing, but we have made huge strides and even have a few "friends" that we can walk with in peace and harmony! Francine is extremely knowledgeable in animal behavior. She is kind and enthusiastic with the dogs and infinitely patient with her human clients. (a must for us!) Francine understands the dogs' behaviors and has specific cues to use for each. After every training session she sends us a copy of the cues we learned, which is so helpful to have for reference and reminders. After each walk Francine emails a report even if the walk wasn't always perfect. With humor and positive suggestions she will honestly relate the events of the day. Francine has been so flexible with scheduling our walks and training sessions. She is extremely reliable and trustworthy. She is not deterred by cold, rain, floods or the unexpected..... which could greet her at any time at this house! She is wonderful and we are very fortunate to have Francine in our lives. Although we have been using Bark n' Roll for over two years now, Francine and all her training/walking staff continue to exceed our expectations on a daily basis. I have used bark n roll for dog walking and in house sitting. I am so happy with their services! For dog walks, Karen and Shaylee have been great! They send me an email about Daisy and Wally's walk and how they did, which I think is terrific! Most recently, Shaylee stayed with them while we were away and she was fantastic!! Wally is almost blind and on various medications so in house sitting was the best option for us. I went over the medications with her and his various anxious tendencies. Every day she sent me an email about their day including their walks, play times, how they were eating, and that wallys medications were given. She also included pictures of them which put a huge smile on our faces and put us at ease!! I would highly recommend Shaylee and this service!! We love Bark n Roll! We use their dog walking services for our two rescue dogs who sometimes can be a handful around strangers and other dogs. My dogs get excited when Karen arrives to walk them! I also have been home just having had a baby and they have been a tremendous help. Karen comes in quiet and careful not to wake the baby and helps me out more than she can ever know! Specifically, our walker Tara is excellent, and extremely helpful when we have out of the ordinary requests. The best of the best. Bark n Roll's services are as good as they come. I have a 1.5 year old Yorkshire terrier and where I work prevents me from coming home during the day to walk him. I met with Francine and she was fantastic! She assigned Tara as our walker who has been awesome! One perk that I love is getting an email update after Tara's walk with my Riley. She lets me know how he did and sometimes even sends along a picture. Too cute! I feel completely comfortable knowing that Riley is in their hands. They treat him as if he was their own. I will be taking their basic training course with Riley in the weeks to come and based on what I've experienced with them so far, I can't wait to start the training!
