The absolute worst customer service experience of my life across any industry... mocked and lied directly to my face to keep stringing me along because for the 3rd time, they still weren't ready for my appointment and couldn't be bothered to call and reschedule before I left work to drop my vehicle off, and then when I simply said "nevermind with the tires, I'm all set, I'll get em elsewhere" the deadbeat working the counter proceeds to laugh right in my face and dismissively wave his hands at me. Worst experience at any Town Fair Tire. I never had this kind of issue with the stores in RI. We booked the appointment online for tires and install only so my daughter who is up in Maine for college would only have to go to the appointment and get what we ordered. And only that. The store decided to add on $250 of additional products and services without asking her whether it was wanted or needed. Tire studding, alignment, warranty plan. After waiting on hold for 10 minutes i finally got transferred around to the manager. Who's response was "well you should have come to the store with her". Yes thank you so much I'll make a 5 hour trip to install tires, to make sure an unscrupulous business takes advantage of a young female and overcharged her $250 for services not needed. read more

This company has amazing people working for them. Ryan, Jeff and everyone else there have always been nice and able to give me the best deal possible. They took tons of money off each tire for a military discount when I bought the tires and had them put on. Then m, after traveling to CT I ended up with a screw in the tire. Drive the car the 5 hours home and they got me in the next day. They tested it to see if it was repairable but it wasn't and I didn't have hazard warranty on the tires I had just bought a month prior. Well, they put the warranty on the tires and used the warranty and, that's all I was billed for at the end of it. I'm so grateful they gave me the best deal once again and now if I need anything else, I will still have them covered under warranty. Thank you! read more

This fraudulent business does not even deserve one star. If you want to be scammed and taken advantage of, then you've found the right place. My daughter is going to college in Maine and I live in another state. I set up everything online that she needed and was only supposed to get charged for 4 tires and installation. That's it. However, they decided to take advantage of a 21 year old girl who was there by herself and added $250 worth of charges and additional services that they never even asked her if she wanted. I called the store to let them know of the mix up, and eventually was transferred to the store manager who is an absolute b****. While explaining what happened, she hung up on me. Talk about great customer service and professionalism. I have never felt the need to review ANYTHING before, but after this experience, it was 100% necessary. I see some terrible reviews here but I've had mostly excellent experiences at this location. I've bought two sets of tires here and have had tire swaps for years as one set was studded. Jason knows his tires and steered me to some chunky looking but quiet all seasons that have been great in the snow. Most of my appointments went as expected except for one where we ended up waiting for hours even though we had an appointment for a specific time. Mistakes happen. I've bought tires at this location twice. Jason is very knowledgeable and super helpful. Bought studded snows, had them swapped for years. Bought all seasons this year will see if I need the snows but these tires are just what I hoped for - quiet and good in heavy rain. Don't know about snow yet. Jason is great. He responds to calls, does a good job a scheduling - once we had a very long wait but once in five years is pretty good. Strongly recommend this location. read more

I bought 35/12.5/17 re used the original rims the truck has and had them mount and balance they put the tires on the truck truck rides awesome and was only $90 to do the whole thing would recommend tires rub but it's not something they did i just have to get wheel spacers but overall good job read more

I just had a terrible experience at Town Fair Tire in Augusta! I had a 9 am appointment to have a tire looked at. I arrived nearly 10 minutes early and there were two reps waiting on someone. Since I was early, I waited at the counter. After a couple minutes, I noticed that there was a small waiting area so I walked over and sat down to wait. After a few more minutes, I looked towards the counter and saw that both men were now each helping new customers who came in AFTER me. I walked back over to the counter and said to Kevin: I had a 9 am appointment and these two customers came in well after me. What is going on here? He replied, "Well, you were sitting in the waiting area." WTF??? I was gobsmacked and just stood there for a moment, before walking out and driving over to Capitol Tire, where they are taking care of my car now. And their customer service is as terrific as Town Fair Tire's is god- awful! read more

They didn't have a record of my appointment. They removed the key from the ignition after I asked them not to, as the truck will give you trouble starting if you do. After removing it and lying about it to me over the phone, they couldn't get it to start at all, thus being unable to do my tires. I wasn't surprised when I got the truck to start myself in LITERALLY 2 minutes. True incompetence was demonstrated here, not only today, but with more than one experience with them. I would recommend walking everywhere you go before I'd recommend getting tires here. Tire Warehouse on Bangor St is BY FAR the better place. Go there. P.S., they left on my dome light. Paid $850 for my daughter to have 4 new tires put on her Honda Pilot 3 days ago. This evening in Hallowell her right rear tire and wheel fell off, the officer responding to the scene of the accident said the bolts were never tightened at ALL. Not the whole 're-torque' routine, that applies to bolts that were tightened at least once, these never were. The lug nuts never had a wrench put on them. The studs were nice and clean, perfect threads. The bolts just fell off because they were completely loose. Not impressed. read more

Bottom line I got screwed. Went in for their cheapest tires for just an installation and they tacked on a bunch of services I didn't ask for, plus charged me full price for tires that were discounted online. While sitting there waiting I spoke with another couple who had already been sitting for an hour and their vehicle was still in parking lot that hadn't been serviced yet. Took just shy of 3 hours for work to be completed on my vehicle. Lug nuts were loose when I checked and tire pressures were dangerously off. Town fair tire said they would make corrections to my over charged bill but never did. I'm gonna eat it on this one but never ever will I do business with these shysters again. I highly recommend finding a good quality small town service garage and save yourself a lot of grief and money. If your looking to get charged for services you didn't ask for, high wait times , enjoy watching your vehicle sit and collect dust while the employees burn butts every 15-20 minutes behind building, this is your ticket. We made an appointment for a 'free' tire rotation at TFT, supposedly included with the purchase of new tires. Arrived on time, parked in the TFT lot and signed in at the desk. Then waited. And waited. And WAITED. An hour passed. The vehicle never moved. Inquired at the desk. The clerk said they'd take it right in. They didn't. Customers kept coming in and getting their cars worked on! Had to leave so not to be late for another appointment. TFT never did ANY work (it was supposed to take less than 15 minutes) and never said a thing when handing the key back. Hmmm... So, thinking about purchasing a set of tires or having a 'free' rotation done at TFT? You might wanna' think again. And maybe take the whole day off, you'll probably need it. read more

Been a customer for over 10 years and have bought many sets of winter and all season tires. Went in today at 9:10 a.m to have winter changeover, bought 2 new tires as well. I went up to the consol desk 3 separate times to ask Mike to inquire on the progress, (as I was hungry and had an appointment. ) noting my car was parked and not in the alignment bay yet. At 11:10 he brought my keys and told me that I had been rude, and giving them a hard time, and said they didn't want me to come back & they would no longer serve me as a customer! 3 months ago they did a fantastic job getting on the road after being towed in from a blowout in Rangeley, and I gave them a 5 star review in Google. Stay away!!! They do not stand behind their tires. I went in on March 28, 2020 to buy 4 truck tires and rims. They gladly took my $2400 and then 2 months later I had to go back in May as they put 2 tires on wrong and they had to flip them. Finally got threw and came up to grab 2 trailer tires and they told me it would take all day long to pop off 2 small trailer tires and put the 2 new ones on. Made an appointment for 8:30a --- 90 minutes later they have still not started on my car. What is the point of an appointment? Also waiting room reeks of tobacco smoke - not great for someone with breathing issues. Walk around business and clearly they allow employees to violate Maine's Workplace Smoking laws by smoking in the bays with the secondhand smoke filtering back into store with techs continually going in and out. read more

My wife and I started buying from town fair tire in 2019. In the past two years we have bought 3 sets of tires. New wheels were bought along with a set of those tires. From the onset of our relationship there has been nothing but false representations and inadeequate work, some of which we had to take one of our cars to our mechanic to fix. Every tire rotation and change over they performed, in two different locations in different states were done incorrectly. In the two years we've been doing business with them those times have numbered five. Those are a lot of mistakes company wide, not specific to one store!. Bought a set of Michelin tires and they are worn out after a year and a half and only 28000+ miles. Paid top dollar for the tires and paid excessive charges for mount and balance, valve stems etc. thinking they would last. After noticing the excessive wear and being warned by my mechanic that my tires are worn to an unsafe level I checked on the warranty details which are umpteen pages long. I found that the warranty is useless although I have rotated the tires every 10K and got another alignment after having one done by Town Fair Tire. Warranty states the maximum allowable mileage between rotations is 8K. Needless to say I will not do further business with this falsely highly-rated establishment. read more

Took our vehicle in for four new tires. Arrived at the appointment on time and they said, "should be just over an hour". Walked to a nearby store to waste some time and saw that my vehicle didn't move for almost an hour. Just over two weeks later I had a tire blow out on my way to work. I did not hit anything in the road, it was obviously a bad tire. Due to the fact that this happened on a Sunday I had to find a different spot to replace my tire. When I went back to TFT with the defective tire that had blown they said there was nothing they could do for us. So, in my attempt to save money getting my tires done at TFT, it ended up costing me a lot more because I had to replace the defective tire that they put on. Would not recommend this place at all. We will spend a little extra money and get better service and go with someone who will stand behind their product. read more

Ugh, I have always had such good service at other locations. I brought my car in and waited 7 hours to be told they didn't have the right tires: I made multiple calls in, was even told it was in alignment bay, which was a lie. I came back weeks later to have the right size tires put on and they accomplished it in 1.25 hours. HOWEVER, they couldn't finish the alignment they said because the tool broke (W-T-F?) and I could bring it back in a MONTH to have it redone. They also put all of the tires in my back seat instead or the trunk area and squashed my lunch. They said I could take it to another TFT to have it aligned...I will be on the phone with corporate today. read more

A couple months ago I bought 4 studded snow tires with rims at "TOWN FAIR TIRE". The other day I went to have them mounted. They broke 3 Lugs off the front right rim trying to remove it. They then told me they were not responsible for the damages and couldn't allow me to take the vehicle because they were going to tow it to my residence the following day, they didn't even replace the hub caps on the 3 tires that did get mounted, they just tossed them in the back seat. Long story short, I repaired the damages and mounted the remaining tire, I just got back from another local garage (because those people are not touching my car again) After I paid $60 to rebalance all 4 tires because the car was vibrating and shimmying, the mechanic told me they were all balanced wrong. STAY AWAY! The one Star I did give was pretty much because it could have been worst somehow. read more

LIARS & THIEVES! Alignment (05, Merc. 240C 4 matic). Told me "NO CAMBER ADJUSTMENT" on this vehicle (have it in writing). Discovered later this is BU------T ! Charged me for FULL alignment, yet ALL rear adjusting bolts FROZEN SOLID! NO WAY in the world they adjusted ANYTHING on this vehicle! (backed up by local mechanics who did it right!) Destroyed 2 sets rear tires due to them. NEVER AGAIN! read more

Horrible service. Made the appointment a week prior. Showed up fifteen minutes early and the sales clerk went out to look at our tires. Even though we'd just had our truck inspected (which it passed completely), he insisted the front tires should be replaced. We declined, so we were told we'd be taken in within 15-20 minutes. Forty-five minutes later (a half hour past the time of our appointment) our truck was still sitting in the parking lot. When I went to complain, we were told an appointment doesn't reserve a specific time. Why make an appointment if you aren't going to honor them, which my wife stated with more than a few 'F' words included. Already cancelled the appointment I had with them for next week and will never go back. read more

Tried Town Fair Tire for the first time today. Their service was quite nice, all of the people working there were quite friendly and seemed as though they cared for me and my vehicle. They were also quick - 4 new tires and a 4-wheel alignment done in less than an hour. Not sure if this is the exception or the rule, but for me it was nice to have it so quick. I've been places where an alignment alone took 2+ hours! What didn't thrill me was the "gotcha" things that drove the cost higher and higher. Their website states that when you purchase tires, it includes a BUNCH of things like mounting, two-wheel alignment, etc. You find out when you arrive at the shop that what is NOT included is balancing (which it says is optional on the website, but it's pretty much stupid not to do it), valve stems (necessity), and the Maine tire disposal fee (I realize they have locations in other states also, so I give them somewhat benefit-of-the-doubt on this one). So these things plus the sales tax on the tires themselves made the total cost $100 more expensive. So just make sure you're prepared for these added costs! Overall I'm pleased with the service and will be back, but next time I'll make sure I'm more prepared to absorb the extra costs. read more

When I came back for my second appointment because they messed up they made me wait hours because I wasn't there to purchase anything. Other people have told me they had the same problem with them. They do in fact have low tire prices, but waste no time in trying to "up sell" if you came in for entry level tires. Now, all businesses try their best to generate revenue, but comments like "do you intend to keep this car" only serve to scare the customer into making higher purchases. Now, I've been a retailer for 30+ years and know that you often cannot include labor into the cost of an item. But, they never mentioned labor at all, and a "mystery charge" on my invoice can only be explained as labor since it was about $70.00. Why not be upfront with the customer? Don't bother making an appointment through their company website. An error in the appointment time went unresolved even with a three business day follow-up email by myself to the Augusta store. The manager and two employees just stood there with a perplexed look on their faces. All in all, I've only had to pay approximately $10 more per tire through my local garage. And they deliver SUPERIOR service! read more

I had an excellent experience at Town Fair tire. The man who helped me was extremely knowledgeable and I had come in with an idea of what I wanted but he helped me pick out better tires for my money. They honored the rebate that I found, even though they didn't have it. I was skeptical when they said they would mail it to me as a check, so I waited to receive it before writing my review.
