This used to be the Prince William county. There are a number of historic buildings close together that you can view from the outside during a short walk. There is an old jail, school house, church and more. Free parking on site. No bathrooms. It looks like the do tours sometimes. No one was around when I was visiting.

Thanking us and telling us to have a wonderful day. The place was the cleanest center we have ever seen. Please recognize these very dedicated employees for a job well done! New ID rules and regulations are absurd and makes life really difficult for some residents of the…read morecounty. Not all tax paying members of the county can utilize the dump they pay for unless your name & address is on certain "acceptable documentation." Unfortunately, the acceptable documentation is not always available for residents of PWC. If you call or email your concerns, you will get an admin person on the phone. If you want to share your concerns with upper management, good luck because they don't take calls from us. Cops are there quite a bit now because PWC residents are upset with these terrible new rules and regulations. Nothing really can be done unless our county leadership steps in. Hopefully people don't start dumping their trash on our beautiful roadsides and it ends up in the dump anyways... If you are reading this because you are as frustrated as I am, please contact the board of county supervisors. Share any legitimate concerns and let's get these crummy new inefficient practices improved or eliminated. Yep, there's a big inlet from the Potomac through the trees. The marker reads: The first known permanent English Roman Catholic settlers in Virginia, Giles Brent, his sister Margaret, and other family members, emigrated here from Maryland by 1650. In May 1861, Confederates built artillery batteries on the bluffs overlooking Aquia Landing at the creek's mouth on the Potomac River. An early clash between U.S. Naval vessels and Confederate land batteries took place here, 30 May and 1 June 1861. After the Confederates withdrew in March 1862, the U.S. Army established a huge supply depot there. The Federals burned and abandoned it on 7 June 1863. The landing again served as a Union depot in 1864. Unless you're stuck in traffic on US-1 - and that never happens - you would miss the opportunity to celebrate this small bit of history.

Landscapers keep the grounds freshly manicured year round and it's never hard to pick out a spot of grass to just sit down and relax on. Base police keep a tight ship so make sure you watch where you park or you'll probably get a ticket, and base tickets aren't cheap. Overall, great post. Can't match a navy or air force base of the same caliber, but hey, it can always try. Five stars for a job well done.
