This is the car I bought. It's a great car except the a/c died almost immediately.

they don't have the capabilities to register your car in nc. only in va. i wound up paying sales taxin both states and personal property taxes in both states. they wont return phone calls or help. i don't recommend using them. i've called several times and am now fighting with the city of. chesapeake over personal property taxes.

Super disappointed in you guys. Everyone in there was so nice and I really wanted to believe that I had found a decent used car dealership. I bought this 4Runner with a new inspection sticker from July. I bought it July 18th and finally got around to taking it to the shop for leaking power steering fluid (which it did since I bought it.) When he put it up on the lift, the mechanic pointed out that the frame was rusted and rotted out and not safe to drive. I had 2 mechanics and a State Trooper from the Inspection station check it out. All said it was not safe to drive and never should have passed inspection or been sold by your dealership (or anyone) in that condition. When I brought it back, the owner was as nice as could be and immediately offered my money back. I wanted to believe he really didn't know about it but he did, because he never even went and looked at the truck before refunding me. If he hadn't known, I'm sure he would have wanted to see for himself before giving the money back. Also, if you're in the business of selling cars, you should know what you're selling. I was sold a vehicle that was unsafe to drive, therefore endangering my life, as well as wasting my time. I was just lucky I took it into the shop when I did. If I had waited another few months then at best, Towne Auto Brokers probably would have said the inspection was older and it must have happened after I bought the vehicle. At worst, I could have gotten into an accident when the frame gave way on the highway and I could have been hurt/ killed or killed someone else. The kicker is that they turned around and put it right back up for sale. 3 days later I saw it online and sent a message asking about it. They said it had just sold. I asked if they had put a new frame on it, and they said "It's being done now." Highly unlikely. The mechanic told me it needed a whole new frame, not just to be welded together which is a huge job. Even with a new frame, the differentials will still be rusted out. So some poor unsuspecting person is driving it around right now and hopefully they will find out before the frame falls apart on them while they are driving and they are hurt or killed on the road, due to Towne Auto Broker's negligence. It was a 2006 Dark Blue 4Runner, VIN # JTEBU1RX68054094. Extremely untrustworthy place and obviously have no hesitation about selling something unsafe for the road.

I really hate having to leave negative reviews. I always try to give the benefit of the doubt…read more However, this has unfortunately been the worst car buying experience I've ever had, by far. And I've bought numerous cars over the years. Buckle up, it's a somewhat long story, but I have to share it. I bought a used 2021 Toyota Corolla from these guys recently, and made my mistake of not test driving it first, and trusted their word, and trusted that a Toyota Corolla is a reliable car to purchase. When I received the car, I didn't even make it out of my neighborhood before noticing it grinding gears when downshifting into 2nd and it didn't want to stay in that gear. Coming from a previous car with endless issues, my heart sank. I called the dealership and the manager (John, I think?) dismissed everything I said and hung up on me. I called Moose again and he gave me the owner Tim's number. Tim was more responsive and understanding and they sent someone to come pickup the car, who also confirmed the issue. Since it was under their 3000mile warranty they decided to put another transmission in it. He claimed it was a new transmission. He offered to put a new clutch in it also, as long as I paid for the parts, which I agreed to at the time, but his "transmission guy said the clutch is fine," so they opted not to. Now, here I am less than 10k miles later, and the clutch has failed. The trusted mechanic I took the car to also told me that they installed a "junkyard transmission." I respectfully and politely called Tim to get some answers and see what they would do about it, and he still claims it's a new transmission, and that he would talk to his transmission guy again, but hasn't sent me any proof of that, and has now stopped answering phone calls and hasn't returned any calls. I do not have and would've never expected to put $3000 into repairs of a car that I just purchased. A 2021 Toyota Corolla with transmission AND clutch failure within 10k miles seems like something an experienced car dealership and "transmission guy" should've been able to catch before it got to my hands. I bought this car for the sole purpose of having a reliable vehicle for my family, and it's been a nightmare since day one. I was (and still am) only hoping they would do the right thing and handle this issue. Incredibly disappointed.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS! WILL SELL YOU A CAR WITH ISSUES!…read more Sold me a broken 9000$ car for 16,000$. The next morning after buying the car I heard a terrible grinding noise (shown in video) upon starting up. After a quick google search i realized it was a common issue with 2010 Honda Crvs to have the VCT Actuactor fail at 100,000 miles. Since the car was at 107,000 miles I knew this was the issue. I went back to show them the terrible noise, and they told me I was turning the key too far causing the grinding noise as i show in the second video that in fact does not happen with this car, as it has a feature that prevents that from happening. Shortly after purchase I discovered: * undisclosed cracked windshield * transmission and mechanical issues * repairs that should have been addressed before sale * unexpected out-of-pocket costs Even more concerning, the dealership delayed submitting my title transfer due to a deferred down payment. Title processing is a legal compliance requirement and should not be withheld. My plates only arrived after persistent follow-up. My son also purchased a 2013 Dodge Charger from this dealership in November. The vehicle was sold with extremely worn, slick tires. When snow arrived in December, the car had no traction and slid off the road twice in one day. He was later involved in another "safety related" accident, and the vehicle was declared a total loss. Vehicles sold to consumers should be safe and properly equipped for operation. Based on our experience, I cannot recommend this dealership. Protect yourself: have an independent mechanic inspect any vehicle and verify tire safety before driving off the lot.

The Sales Manager, Mark Blumenthal, initially was very friendly and displayed great customer service. However, he made major errors on my credit application and Retail Installment Contract that had to be corrected later at my expense. The vehicle that I purchased had several mechanical (ie. The headlights of the vehicle were pointed directly at the ground to the point that the area directly in front of the vehicle was completely dark) and cosmetic issues that should have been discovered and corrected during the Virginia State Vehicle Inspection process in November 2024. I immediately informed Mark about the issues (except the headlights that I didn't discover until later). Mark seemed annoyed when I pointed the issues out to him. Mark stated that he would send the vehicle to his mechanic located "up the street" who would only address what Mark considered the "major issues" with the vehicle. Mark sent the vehicle to his mechanic a week later to fix the issues. However, Mark and the mechanic only addressed what they considered the "major" mechanical issues. After the vehicle was returned to me, some of the issues (like the check engine light and Airbag Sensor lights) returned. The vehicle was also not detailed initially. Mark did offer to have the vehicle detailed at a later date. I declined to have the vehicle detailed (due to time constraints) and will have it done at my own expense. Mark also seemed irritated and annoyed by the fact the I was so meticulous about this vehicle purchase. He maintained this demeanor even after I explained to him that I needed to be so meticulous because my teenaged, young adult, daughter needed a safe and reliable vehicle to operate. I decided to stop complaining to Mark, and accept the issues "As Is" as agreed upon in the Retail Installment Contract. I will have the issues corrected at my own expense so my daughter can have a safe and reliable vehicle to operate. I do not intend to purchase any more vehicles from Central 1 Auto Brokers.
