I stayed here for a weekend in May and had such a peaceful time!…read more Customer service was flawless. My room literally felt like a second home. It was comfortable and cozy! I enjoyed having the nice size kitchen in combination with a bedroom and closet vibe as well as a front room set up with a flat screen TV and couch. I felt like I was in my own little studio. The Breakfast was amazing! The area was well stocked and clean. The healthy choice options were a real treat! From the multigrain buckwheat waffles, to the eggs and even the 100% the juice. And the biscuits were OH SO DELICIOUS! The pool area was of great size, plenty of seating, and well kept. Shockingly, the water was SO COLD! I was eventually able to fully get in the water to swim a bit, but then saw floating particles in the water, which grossed me out. I'm not sure what it was or where it came from. I'm not even sure how often the pool is cleaned. But I surely didn't stay in there long after noticing. The gym was satisfactory. They have your basic machines, yoga mats, weighed balls, and a great size mirror along side a rack of dumb bells. The towel rack and sanitizing wipes were stocked and everything was functional. I was happy to be able to get a wonderful workout in during my stay. Check out process was easy peasy. A relaxing weekend was had , and I'm so glad I stayed in the perfect place to do just that.

The bathtub had no door or curtain, which meant water went everywhere, making the floor super slippery. And, uh, there were some... hairs... stuck to the bathroom ceiling. Definitely not the most appealing sight! The faucet was also loose, and the corner of the tub showed some rust from all the splashing. When we got back from our outing, there were shampoo and conditioner bottles left right by the door. The pool was another story. The water was freezing and pretty murky. On the plus side, the breakfast lady was an absolute star! Such a hard worker. It was a bit of a contrast to the check-in girl who wasn't too helpful when I asked about coffee (they'd run out). She just said it wasn't her job to tell the breakfast person.

Rooms have no smoke detectors, missing amenities, sticky floors, missing door numbers, and unstable fridges. On top of that, homeless people knock on guest doors at night. Ghetto! This place is in the hood, don't be fooled because it is in Taylor. It is the hood part. I…read morebooked at this hotel for NYE and upon arriving the lobby area smelled like cigarettes coming from the inside of the front desk area. It's ironic because they even have a sign in the lobby saying not to smoke. I brushed that first red flag. The rooms are supposed to be Non-smoking. However, I found out the hard way that the rooms are filled with marijuana smell. It is DISGUSTING! Second red flag. The front staff are ridiculous and not accommodating. They gave me such a hard time when I tried to get a refund for a room I didn't even stay in. Yes, they initially told me no refunds would be issued, however, they should have had the rooms cleaned prior to my arrival. I booked the same day and left after I looked at how nasty the rooms I was given. It is utterly UNACCEPTABLE. The manager Sarena told me that she can put an ozone cleaner or whatever it is to clean the marijuana smoke smell out of the room, but why didn't she clean the room prior to my arrival. I am the guest and it isn't my responsibility to make sure that their rooms are on point. The first room was smoky and smelt like the dankest weed. After I reported it to the front desk, they gave me another room key to another room that smelt the same. Now, I am not a weed smoker, and yes I know that MI is a legal state, however, I have severe allergies to smoke smell especially marijuana. On top of that, the young girl with red orangish hair working at the front desk was so rude. I don't know what crawled up her up and died, but there was no reason for her to be so ugly towards me. Again, I am the guest and without my business, they would be put out. So she really needs to work on her interpersonal communication skills. I would avoid this place at all costs. It is HORRIBLE! Sketchy staff. Sketchy location. Sketchy people staying at this hotel. Overpriced for what you get. It is not worth it and if you are from out of town like me, your best bet is to avoid this place like the plague. They really put a dent in my vacation dealing with these incompetent, rude, and disrespectful individuals. I left and found a better hotel.

When I get there to check in, the lobby smelled funny and there was construction outside. Check in was quick. I get into the room and it smells like absolute mould. I turn the air on cause it was off and the room was stifling hot. I sprayed my perfume everywhere to try to mask the smell and then left to get lunch hoping that the smell would go away. I get back and I walk in, the smell is still there so I asked to be transferred to another room. I get to the other room it also smells like mould. At this point there's no real room that would smell pleasant. I tried to cancel and switch to the holiday inn across the street that looks newer (I booked this one cause I didn't know there was a newer one and I'm coming from out of town). I couldn't cancel at all so I had to stay all 3 nights in this room that smelled like mould. And then the next day I went out for breakfast so that the room can get cleaned but when I returned it was not cleaned at all and the faucet grip fell off (see picture of hair ball on carpet and the faucet grip). This place should be renovated completely. For the money I spent, It was not worth it.

I couldn't control the heat for some reason, but it did stay at a comfortable level. While there are not a lot of food options here, I gave The Tap and D.Prime a spin. Tap isn't anything to write home about as far as food that I was able to eat there, but my friend did enjoy the salmon. D.Prime is great - I highly recommend the corn!! The coffee spot does what it does - the best thing is that it's open 24 hours and they have a nice variety of pastries and snacks. The staff was polite and helpful from the hotel to the casino, although many of the casino staff members were unaware of promotions. Slots were mostly clean, as was the overall casino space. I had a blast playing slots! Definitely will be back!!!

I tried to stay here as part of an extended weekend getaway…read more I showed up at the check-in time on a Sunday afternoon. The room wasn't "ready", so I waited more than an hour in their "living room" area. After more than an hour, I checked back in with the front desk, and was told no rooms were ready. Really? So why did more than 200 people get to check in and head up to their rooms while I was waiting? I asked when the room would be ready, and was told it would be a minimum of another half hour, or I could accept a down grade (for the same price of the suite I reserved) I asked if I could be assigned the room and have the room serviced while I was unpacking, "that isn't allowed" So after a 4 hour drive to get there, they forced me to drive another 4 hours home because they couldn't provide me a room within 2 hours of their promised check in time If you can't operate a simple hotel in Detroit, just shut down

The service has been a lot better, with more attentive staff. The front desk rep Jay was pretty cool and his energy is welcoming. By favorite about this hotel is the bar and grill, Grill 39. Food is great and drinks are cheap and strong. They have an amazing happy hour menu. Carla the manager is by far one of the best bartenders I've ever encountered, she has great people skills and takes care of all her guest. This lady even went to the kitchen and rolled up her sleeves and continued business because of a call out of kitchen staff. I had one negative experience at the bar which was with the server/bartender "Pam" she was pretty rude and pushy. I was explaining to that a discount is used with my current status and reservation (that I always receive) and she cut me off and told me " that's breakfast only, you can't do that over here, is there something else I can help you with " that really didn't sit too well with me, but I continued on with my meal. It was a great choice for our stay! Everyone was so friendly, and I appreciated the Diamond status recognition (and those warm cookies!). I'm a big HiltonHonors fan, and the DoubleTree brand is always a solid travel pick and it's just nice to receive an inviting and friendly welcome. The hotel is big! I mean like really big. Like a maze. I looked it up and there are 347 guest rooms covering 5 floors & 12,000+ square feetMeeting/event space. We stayed in Room 540, and while the hallway had a bit of a smoke smell, the rooms are nonsmoking, so not sure what that was about. Minor details, wear and dust, but still 5 stars based on amenities and service. I only found one Ice machine working too on 4 of the floors. Helpful tip: Door 3 is closest to the elevators! Another guest shared that with me and it saved some walking! I think I saw at least 9 numbered doors from circling the building trying to get out of the parking lot. No real issues during the stay other than the ice machine and would absolutely stay here again. We chose this location to be close to The Henry Ford Museum of American Innovation but a solid choice if you want to stay outside of Downtown Detroit.
