Cute Halloween display 10-25.

MGM is definitely the most beautiful/fanciest casino out of all three Detroit casinos. MGM charges for parking when there's an event going on downtown unless you're Pearl status or higher. It's a bummer because the parking is free at the other two local casinos. The steakhouse at MGM is excellent. I had a ribeye cooked to perfection. You'll pay some $$$ but that's expected at a high end casino steakhouse. The hotel is very nice. Rooms are modern, clean, and spacious. Again, expect to pay quite a bit even on a quiet weekday ($300 and up) for just their basic room. For the most part MGM is completely smoke free except for special designated rooms. You won't smell any smoke unless you go on the designated smoking rooms. For me I just don't have any luck here. The times I've come up here I've lost my money quickly. If a casino wants to get you to come back they need to offer better perks and MGM hasn't really made the juice worth the squeeze as the saying goes. If you're looking for glitz and glamour this is your place. If you're looking to stretch your dollar and have more of an authentic Detroit experience check out Hollywood Casino in historic Greektown.

Celebrated our daughters 21st Birthday with family at the casino! We parked in the garage, FREE, then headed inside to the rewards desk where daughter signed up for a card and got $10 in free play for her bday! She even got a free spin at one of the kiosks. After playing a bit we all headed over to eat at TAP. The food and staff were amazing! We ended the night at the bar, and watched the live entertainment! Amazing night, highly recommend! There were 9 of us at the table to eat at TAP and they made us put it on one bill + 18% gratuity.

Front desk with my package from door dash and the same woman saying she's not responsible

The customer service is piss poor. I've never been to a hotel that won't ring you or hold your delivery from door dash or Uber Eats, and instead lets anyone just take your stuff or they keep it for themselves. As per my experience with my Walgreens delivery from door dash. It literally has my room number on the order when I place it. And I was spending over $100 for the second night in a row at the D Prime steak house for just myself. Didn't realize it was too much to ask for them to hold a package delivered for me until I was done with dinner on the way to my room. Won't ever stay at this hotel again, in Detroit, that's for sure. I'm an MGM member too. Disappointed and highly do not recommend. The walk is too far from the conference center - .7 miles - which yes, doesn't seem far for the body but is too far for DETROIT. And uber each way is $10-$16 and a long wait.

stayed here for work and it was nice and toasty while there was a snowstorm lol friendly staff and clean spaces. lov the dual showers haha

It is a very nice hotel with a casino. It's very clean and the shower in the room was the best shower I have ever had in my room. They have garage parking or you can do valet parking. There are a couple of different restaurants you can choose for food. The staff was very nice. Greg W, who works in the casino, is awesome. He went out of his way to find me coffee, and I appreciate that so much. They were in the middle of a remodel when we were there, but there were still plenty of games to play. I hope to be back.

The beautiful scenery in the lobby with the Christmas decorations, live music and the built-in fire place .

Located in downtown Detroit. There's a self park garage located to the right of Casino. This MGM Grand is not as big as The Las Vegas chain, but all the perks are still available. The food court is available 24/7 and is a great one stop shop for all kinds of food. Bring your luck and A game for a night of adult fun to win some money.

Hotel room plush.

The room was beautiful, with a nice view of Downtown Detroit. Nice bars/ restaurants to dine in.

Very nice hotel with a great location and great service. However, the Casino was noticably "tight".

WOW, What a great casino! This place is huge, clean, smells good and the staff is duper friendly. 2024 Thanksgiving Day we came here and had the BEST time and we came home winners. We had lunch at MGM Tap and again clean, friendly and great food plus the game was on numerous HUGE screens, Detroit vs Chicago. We played slot machines for hours. Love the lights, people machines going off woohoo what fun we had and most definitely will be coming back.

To start, I've never had the luxury of staying in a nice hotel before. So my experience could be different from yours. My sister and I came from Chicago to see a concert at Little Ceasers Arena. Check in time is at 3:00 at this hotel. However, the hotel let us get a room at noon. We wanted to be in a room as soon as possible due to our VIP access being at 3:00. We wanted to get ready for the concert, and decompress. They were able to make do with our accommodation. The staff is very friendly. The valet is complimentary, and they serve breakfast to your room. (Not free). The room was very nice. We had the king suite. The bathroom had double sinks and a biiiig shower. Super comfortable bed, and comfortable environment. The restaurant they have inside was open super late. (I made a review about that too). I give so much credit to them being open at 1AM. With the low staff they had a night, they kept going. The hallways smell so clean too! This hotel is amazing. If I can ever afford to come back, this is the company to go with.

Ask the Community - MGM Grand

Do casino have Bingo?

Unfortunately they dont

Do they have Keno live and/or video?

I think it’s live

Are they still on strike?

Unsure at the moment. ...just don't take MGM's word on anything if you don't live close by. - You'll be sorry you did. I might suggest looking at Detroit newspapers online to get honest information about what is currently going on there.

Is the casino open thanksgiving day?

Yes. 24/7 365 days.

Do the hotel rooms have bathtubs?

Some just have stand up showers besides the jacuzz suites.

Blackjack in person dealer rather than machine or video?

Yes. Real live dealers!

Are alcoholic drinks complimentary while gambling?

No not in Detroit casinos. Only Vegas that I know of.

Is breakfast included?

Palette opens Monday and Tuesday at 4PM. Wednesday through Saturday 11AM. Sunday 9AM. I do not believe dining to be included with lodging. Good luck, hope you need an armored truck service to haul your winnings home!

We have never been here at all and not too sure on what to wear. We're going to the Wolfgang punk restaurant. What would you recommend We wear?

Wolfgang Puck is the nicest restaurant at MGM. We "dressed up" when we went. There are casually dressed diners also. Many use their comps to pay for the meal.

What are the parking options? Is there valet, if so how much?

The options are self parking or valet. The valet is complimentary.

About half of the lot was blocked off, and if you parked on the upper deck, there was no elevator or direct connection to the hotel, which made things inconvenient. Check in was smooth and easy. I did appreciate the security at night, especially since the hotel is connected to a casino. When I got to my room, I liked how spacious it was, but unfortunately it did not feel very clean. The carpet, doors, and several other areas looked like they needed more attention. Cleanliness really impacts comfort, and that is something that should not be overlooked. The food court was a nice touch and stayed open late, which was convenient. The staff throughout my stay were friendly and helpful. We were also able to take advantage of a shuttle to the arena, which made getting to the concert much easier. The hotel was fairly quiet at night, but in the morning the cleaning crew was quite loud in the hallway, which disrupted the otherwise peaceful atmosphere. Overall, this property has a lot of potential, but improvements in cleanliness and some logistical issues like parking would make a big difference.

You've got to be prepared as a business to accommodate. We arrived about 2 hours before check in. The hotel is a bit odd as you park on the main level but the actually lobby is on 3. I left my daughter in the car before knowing this. The valet opened my front door and asked my teen daughter where I went. As I'm at registration, there is one person working the elite desk and another person working a counter at the complete opposite side of the lobby. As stated earlier - chaos and this is how it was staffed. Pro - we opted for a king room and were able to get into a room immediately. Parking is next door and $25/day. Not bad for downtown parking. We quickly got to our room. I was shocked that there were no charging ports for phones/devices. My fault for not being prepared with actual plug in chargers. Pro - the view is pretty. We could see the river, Canada and all the downtown lights sparkling from our room. Con - the elevators are scary and many times you feel like you are on a rocky cruise boat. (There are 70 floors to the hotel and we were on 59). Lobby - there's a market and a restaurant/bar. They had what appeared to be one bartender when we had drinks in the afternoon. I'm not sure what happened, but she was one of the most UNFRIENDLY and unprofessional bartenders. She was mad we were ordering from the bar, she didn't want us leaving our tab open for fear we'd leave without closing out and create more work, she got mad that she made a drink wrong, she cussed about a fellow employee as she walked past us and then refused to serve someone because she stated we had a server (nobody ever approached us). This was all during a timeframe of 45-60 minutes. The place was clearly not staffed appropriately but the hostility was geared to the wrong parties. We were paying customers who were nothing but patient. Pro - proximity to Huntington Place is close. The walk is pretty and it appears to be safe. I was not able to venture any further from the property but the location does appear to be quite great. Overall the hotel really needs to work on staffing. There was another large event taking place at the hotel and the hotel just seemed way off from being able to handle things accordingly.

They are truly the gems of this place. I see the same people year after year and they truly care for you while you are here. I've gotten excellent advice about where and what to eat, where to visit, and even life advice. From Cassandra who answers the phone, to group sales, to the front desk, to the thorough and patient housekeeper Jasmine, to the really kind van drivers/ concierge (Captain Tony, Cory, and Darryl), to the nice woman at the bar restaurant downstairs. Everyone does an amazing job. This place is a great value also. It's an all suites hotel so you get a lot of space. I love having the sleeping room separate from the living room so if some people in your party want to stay up and chat they can do that while I can have my peace and nap in the bedroom. The sound proofing isn't perfect but it's pretty good for a hotel room. I also love the deep soaking tub. I always arrive earlier than everyone else so I can take a bath right when I get there. There is a shuttle service that is very useful for trips within 5 miles. I've seen many people use it to get to the sports arena nearby. I tend to use it to go to nearby restaurants, dance clubs and the whole foods nearby before all the markets opened downtown. They just went through some serious remodeling and everything looks really good. The location in Greektown makes it walkable to most places. I'm most interested in walking to Hart Plaza, which is about 10 minutes walking. It's also about 10-15 minutes walking to the DAX bus stop. I've even taken the 20 minute walk to the Fox theater because I wanted to see that building. Its best to walk with someone if your going that far and keep your wits about you, but I felt completely safe (as a brown woman who grew up in NYC). I love how much Detroit is growing and changing for the more beautiful. If I had one complaint it would be the music that they play in the lobby. I wish they would play Motown (because of the city we're in), techno or Greek music (because we're in Greektown and the place is called the Atheneum). I feel like that would be more true to where we are, but that's such a small thing, and maybe just me. All in all, I LOVE staying here and will continue to stay here when ever I'm in Detroit.
