This is a review of the TAP restaurant. We visited for dinner. We were promptly seated, then ignored for 10+ minutes and had to ask for our server. When our server did arrive, her service was swift. I hate it when servers do not write down orders. A wrong entree was served. The runner who delivered the meals read the tkt to us - our server had completely botched the order for Thai chicken and entered salmon. It was replaced swiftly and the salmon was comp'd and boxed for take-out. Food arrived swiftly. My ribeye was tasty and properly prepared, served warm-ish. This was NOT a steakhouse quality steak - maybe 5/8th inch thick. Maybe. The broccoli was steamed and kind'a, sort'a warm-ish. The mashed potatoes were delightful - again, warm-ish. I had to ask for a refill of my beverage. TAP is a sports bar with a sports bar vibe and sound level. Not my choice, but I was a good guest and did not fuss. When it was time to leave; I was a bit lost. 0:3 security workers were able to direct me to the parking garage's west entrance. Will I return? Only if others insist that I join them. read more

I tried to stay here as part of an extended weekend getaway I showed up at the check-in time on a Sunday afternoon. The room wasn't "ready", so I waited more than an hour in their "living room" area. After more than an hour, I checked back in with the front desk, and was told no rooms were ready. Really? So why did more than 200 people get to check in and head up to their rooms while I was waiting? I asked when the room would be ready, and was told it would be a minimum of another half hour, or I could accept a down grade (for the same price of the suite I reserved) I asked if I could be assigned the room and have the room serviced while I was unpacking, "that isn't allowed" So after a 4 hour drive to get there, they forced me to drive another 4 hours home because they couldn't provide me a room within 2 hours of their promised check in time If you can't operate a simple hotel in Detroit, just shut down read more

I was very impressed with how spacious the rooms were . Had a lovely time in Detroit MGM and managed to play and win on roulette. A lot of table games were higher than I expected ; especially since the clientele were just regular folks . $25 Black Jack and $15 daytime roulette table was a bit pricey for my wallet but the table was busy with a lot of players stopping in and out. The food court was sad . Hardly anyone eating and it didn't smell great in the seating area . We ate at Taps each meal And it was good.m, clean with helpful staff. read more

MGM is definitely the most beautiful/fanciest casino out of all three Detroit casinos. MGM charges for parking when there's an event going on downtown unless you're Pearl status or higher. It's a bummer because the parking is free at the other two local casinos. The steakhouse at MGM is excellent. I had a ribeye cooked to perfection. You'll pay some $$$ but that's expected at a high end casino steakhouse. The hotel is very nice. Rooms are modern, clean, and spacious. Again, expect to pay quite a bit even on a quiet weekday ($300 and up) for just their basic room. For the most part MGM is completely smoke free except for special designated rooms. You won't smell any smoke unless you go on the designated smoking rooms. For me I just don't have any luck here. The times I've come up here I've lost my money quickly. If a casino wants to get you to come back they need to offer better perks and MGM hasn't really made the juice worth the squeeze as the saying goes. If you're looking for glitz and glamour this is your place. If you're looking to stretch your dollar and have more of an authentic Detroit experience check out Hollywood Casino in historic Greektown. read more

The rooms are clean, and the casino is well-maintained. The dealers are friendly and professional. Unfortunately, the front desk staff has consistently been the weakest part of our experience. Over several stays, we've encountered only one front desk employee who was genuinely helpful and friendly. Most of the others made us feel as though we were inconveniencing them simply by checking in. Latest experience: We arrived early to check in, and our room wasn't ready, which was completely understandable. We were told we would receive a text message when it became available. That never happened. Instead, we eventually had to stand in line again to ask if the room was ready while also trying to locate a manager. This was about 1 1/2 hours after the official check-in time. We finally received our room, but the process was unnecessarily frustrating. Rather than acknowledging the issue, we were given a series of excuses about what might have happened. There was no ownership, no accountability, and no apology. Another group in our party experienced the same issue. It's a shame because the property itself is very nice. If the front desk service matched the quality of the rooms and casino, this would be an excellent place to stay. read more

I didn't have the highest expectations of this hotel, but it definitely made me a believer! I was placed on the concierge level, which apparently at one time or another had its own lounge, but it was closed my entire stay. My room was clean, spacious, and very comfortable. I couldn't control the heat for some reason, but it did stay at a comfortable level. While there are not a lot of food options here, I gave The Tap and D.Prime a spin. Tap isn't anything to write home about as far as food that I was able to eat there, but my friend did enjoy the salmon. D.Prime is great - I highly recommend the corn!! The coffee spot does what it does - the best thing is that it's open 24 hours and they have a nice variety of pastries and snacks. The staff was polite and helpful from the hotel to the casino, although many of the casino staff members were unaware of promotions. Slots were mostly clean, as was the overall casino space. I had a blast playing slots! Definitely will be back!!! read more

Celebrated our daughters 21st Birthday with family at the casino! We parked in the garage, FREE, then headed inside to the rewards desk where daughter signed up for a card and got $10 in free play for her bday! She even got a free spin at one of the kiosks. After playing a bit we all headed over to eat at TAP. The food and staff were amazing! We ended the night at the bar, and watched the live entertainment! Amazing night, highly recommend! There were 9 of us at the table to eat at TAP and they made us put it on one bill + 18% gratuity. read more

The customer service is piss poor. I've never been to a hotel that won't ring you or hold your delivery from door dash or Uber Eats, and instead lets anyone just take your stuff or they keep it for themselves. As per my experience with my Walgreens delivery from door dash. It literally has my room number on the order when I place it. And I was spending over $100 for the second night in a row at the D Prime steak house for just myself. Didn't realize it was too much to ask for them to hold a package delivered for me until I was done with dinner on the way to my room. Won't ever stay at this hotel again, in Detroit, that's for sure. I'm an MGM member too. Disappointed and highly do not recommend. The walk is too far from the conference center - .7 miles - which yes, doesn't seem far for the body but is too far for DETROIT. And uber each way is $10-$16 and a long wait. read more

It is a very nice hotel with a casino. It's very clean and the shower in the room was the best shower I have ever had in my room. They have garage parking or you can do valet parking. There are a couple of different restaurants you can choose for food. The staff was very nice. Greg W, who works in the casino, is awesome. He went out of his way to find me coffee, and I appreciate that so much. They were in the middle of a remodel when we were there, but there were still plenty of games to play. WOW, What a great casino! This place is huge, clean, smells good and the staff is duper friendly. 2024 Thanksgiving Day we came here and had the BEST time and we came home winners. We had lunch at MGM Tap and again clean, friendly and great food plus the game was on numerous HUGE screens, Detroit vs Chicago. We played slot machines for hours. Love the lights, people machines going off woohoo what fun we had and most definitely will be coming back. read more

To start, I've never had the luxury of staying in a nice hotel before. So my experience could be different from yours. My sister and I came from Chicago to see a concert at Little Ceasers Arena. Check in time is at 3:00 at this hotel. However, the hotel let us get a room at noon. We wanted to be in a room as soon as possible due to our VIP access being at 3:00. We wanted to get ready for the concert, and decompress. They were able to make do with our accommodation. The staff is very friendly. The valet is complimentary, and they serve breakfast to your room. (Not free). The room was very nice. We had the king suite. The bathroom had double sinks and a biiiig shower. Super comfortable bed, and comfortable environment. The restaurant they have inside was open super late. (I made a review about that too). I give so much credit to them being open at 1AM. With the low staff they had a night, they kept going. The hallways smell so clean too! This hotel is amazing. If I can ever afford to come back, this is the company to go with. read more

We stayed at the hotel here, it was about $450 a night for the king suite which was terrible. There were barely any amenities, and the room looked like something from the 80s. There were stains everywhere in our room, this was supposed to be our honeymoon night, but the room killed the mood altogether. read more

We arrived at the MGM Hotel an hour and a half before our scheduled pick-up for the Michigan game, since this was the designated shuttle point. At the front desk, we were told the shuttle would return an hour before the game, so we waited. After a long wait, we went back inside and spoke with the manager, who informed us that for this game there was only one shuttle going. Because of the misinformation we were given, we ended up having to drive ourselves and unfortunately arrived late to the game. If the staff are not sure about shuttle details, it would be better for them not to provide incorrect information. This caused a lot of unnecessary stress and negatively affected our experience. read more

Today Sunday June21st. I am older and handicapped, and got confused when I took my ticket out of the machine I had put it in the machine two seats over and thought I had left it and didn't cash it out.Someone sat in the seat I went to.So I asked everyone in the circle if they had my ticket when they sat down and everyone said no.So I called for service and wouldn't leave the seat of my original machine.Tony the technician was wonderful. Said I had cashed it out I said, but I don't have it. I was very confused. I knew the exact amount of it told them you could go through my purse. I don't have it and couldn't remember what happened to it so he contacted the manager who went over. The tapes told me exactly what had happened and that when I put my ticket in the machine after cashing it out and came back to look for it. Someone was dishonest and used the money. I was jjust sick about it. The manager today was wonderful. He knew I was telling the truth and he knew who used my ticket he gave me my money back, which was so nice of him and told me from now on to be very careful which I am now I love to gamble and will continue to come to MGM Detroit because this manager today went above and beyond helping me and someone needs to recognize him. He is an asset to your company. read more

We stayed here for a local comedy show, which ended up being during the casino workers strike. It was actually pretty nice walking into an almost-empty place like MGM. The staff were amazing and helpful. They disclosed the situation and stated housekeeping would be one time per stay. Our stay was only one night so that didn't affect us. Much was closed down [in terms of restaurants] but MGM allows DoorDash and takeout delivery to come to their main lobby; so food wasn't an issue. And it's by a TON of area restaurants and bars within walking distance. Parking is free in their garage; one less thing to be worried about. They also have valet. The place is immaculate and shiny. Our hotel room was spotless and grand; just like the name. The beds are comfy and cloud-like. Mini fridge is stocked with items to purchase. THEY ARE NOT FREE. Our room also had a nice view of the city and the bridge. I highly recommend staying here. read more

Now, I never knew MGM to have events but hey let's check it out right. Now MGM is nothing like Motor City so there's no theatre here. Where is the event u say? In the damn convention center. Really?! You're literally in a meeting room like a hotel! I was highly upset to discover this. Viewing is okay, but not really. They need to really invest in a theatre because this is just not gonna work! Chico was funny. It lasted a lot longer than I expected which was good. Tickets were a bit much imo for where and how you were seated. When I checked in there was blood on the toilet. My room ac stopped working the last night of my stay. It was 80 degrees in my room and I couldn't sleep. When I called the front desk they were unaccommodating to my request for a late check out due to this issue. When I asked about it over the phone they suggested I come to the front desk in person to work something out. I'm not sure what that would accomplish and I didn't feel like they cared enough about my issue to take it seriously. I am a frequent guest of this hotel and the only reason I stay here is because of the spa which is nice but throughout my entire stay they didn't have any towels for guests to use at the pool. They charge a resort fee to cover things like that. read more

First time here and it did not disappoint. Room was very clean and spacious and the entire hotel, restaurant and casino staff are extremely polite and welcoming. The slots were good to me and the restaurants are great, especially D. Prime. Spa facilities could use an update (steam room and jacuzzi) but the spa treatments were excellent! read more

Really nice people. Horribly set up and despite kindness they're unable to do anything outside of what's in the manual. If you have kids, you can't come here. I came for a 450 person wedding. We liked the valet, front desk staff and housekeeping. They were all pleasant and tried to help. But, you cannot get to a coffee shop or any restaurants but 1 without being in the casino. Well anyone with someone under 21 cannot do anything then. I couldn't get a coffee because I had my son with me and couldn't leave him alone as a 2 year old. I could get food from any restaurant other than Tap. Well Tap has no kids menu. And even worse, when you order take out from TAP you pick up on the casino floor side so you CANNOT GET THE FOOD when you're with a minor. i had to walk around Tap restaurant asking multiple people to help me get my take out order since I couldn't get to the takeout window. 2 of 3 said they'd help and never came back. My son Screamed in hunger over the 55 min it took to get French fries. The woman at front of Tap told people it was a 45min wait and this photo shows their restaurant at the time. Food and hotel set up aside, our room had 2 outlets that didn't work. The mini-bar didn't work. They put a "decorative" window panel on the bathroom wall so anytime someone has a light on in the bathroom the bedroom is bright too. That was pretty annoying when you're trying to sleep and someone has to use the bathroom in the night. read more

This casino is my 2nd fav out of the 3 Metro Detroit casinos. We were greeted with a smile which is a must on my list. Valet service was exceptional. This Casino offered a clean place to stay for my cousin staying here from Dallas. There suites are really big and offered a great view of the city. The kiosk wasn't working properly, which was my reason for the 4 stars. They had several options for Restaurants and the food at Tap was very good. read more
