This is an old 1990's built hotel that doesn't look like it's ever had any renovations done to it…read more It wasn't dirty , but the carpets were stained and everything was aged. The free hot breakfast was cheese omelets that taste like water with cheddar, and turkey sausage patties. Very minimal and low class for a Hampton Inn. Granted that Ashland, Ky. Is not a popular tourist town with lots of sites and things, or even hotels to draw anyone. This hotel had mostly out of town contractors and construction workers, and weary travelers that pulled off the highway to stay somewhere. It has a Walmart right next to it, and an old broken down long since closed car wash on the other side of it. It's on the outskirts from downtown Ashland, right off I-64. I have stayed at some very nice Hampton Inns over the years, and I will still consider them in the future, but this is an old one that is in need of a complete renovation, but based on where it is, it probably would not be beneficial to spend the money doing it.

This hotel is far in a way the nicest hotel in Ashland, and one of the best in the Tri-State area…read more It has a wonderful location, yet still has free parking, and has great views over the Ohio and the city. The lobby and common areas, despite being repaired from a water leak, were all clean and inviting, and the onsite restaurant was quite good. As for the room, it's really nice on the surface. A spacious entry way, closet, and bathroom, a super open room, and a very comfy and clean king bed. The room also featured plenty of outlets, USBs, a fridge, coffee supplies, and nice HVAC. Returning to the bathroom, it had a super fancy sink and storage area, a large shower, and a fancy toilet. So, why isn't this a five star review? I noticed a lot of peeling wallpaper, a good bit of dust build up on the bathroom floor, a slightly dirty shower door, and some hair in the shower. Despite these issues, I still enjoyed my time here and would absolutely recommend the property. I want to end this review by discussing service, as every employee I met was incredibly friendly and helpful, and Meagan specifically is one of the nicest people I've met in the industry.

I had a training in Ashland Kentucky this week and needed a place to stay. So my agency booked the…read moreDelta. They gave me a form that had all the necessary authorizations and information. I checked in Sunday night and gave the clerk the documentation. All I was given was my key cards. Halfway through my stay someone from the front desk called my room asking for my debt card number to have on file for Incidental coverage. I told them that my agency covers this in the form but the lady insisted I had to leave my card as well. I thought this was suspicious but complied anyways. Today, I wake up and find that I'm missing over $600 dollars from my bank with two charges from Delta (preauthorizations). They charged my card for the 5 day stay and incidental. The frustrating part is that they didn't seem to take any responsibility aside from reversing the charges. The 2 documents I gave them had incidental checked on it so if the person had been doing their job and read the document this wouldn't have occurred. But they didn't. Now, this being a Friday I'm stuck in limbo for probably 6 days or longer waiting on $600 dollars to be returned to me that never should have been taken. Apparently their "system" will just do what it wants within 3-4 business days. 1) They didn't read the document. 2) They charged my card instead of my agency's card. When I expressed frustration the lady I spoke to today said a note should have been made on there about incidental but I'm not sure if she was saying they should have or trying to shift blame to my agency.

It was spacious enough that we unloaded the back of a pickup truck filled with Christmas gifts, loaded them onto a luggage cart and took the elevator to the second floor. We didn't chance leaving them in the truck. The area seems safe enough, but. . . Beds were firm for great sleep after an 8 hour drive. We used the small exercise room, which was fine except treadmill did not work. Elliptical and bike did and there were many barbells of various weights well organized on a rack with a bench. Pool is indoors. Looked clean but did not use. Breakfast bar was great. Tasty hot bar, oatmeal, bakery items, fruit, cold cereal, pancake machine, yogurt, and lots of drink choices--coffee, juices, milk, hot tea, water. There was also a Hot Cocoa Bar in the lobby which was beautifully decorated for Christmas. The free WiFi was terribly slow. The stairwells were clean and a great healthy alternative to taking the elevator except the stairwell closest to the front desk smelled like a smoking lounge. Dog owners do not always clean up after their pets despite the bags and trash can conveniently located in the grassy area outside the front door.

We needed somewhere to stay near Huntington and this was the cheapest option available with my rewards points. Turns out that I was actually pretty impressed with it! This Holiday Inn Express felt very clean and recently updated. It offered free breakfast, a pool and also had a fitness center. The rooms were clean, but the only complaint I have is that our nonsmoking room smelled like cigarettes the whole weekend. But besides that, we enjoyed our stay here and didn't have any other problems.

We had my cat with us for a nominal $15 fee. It was easy to book a room over the phone, which was nice. There is no elevator, so it was a hassle carrying our heavy things up the stairs--I can only imagine the frustration by those who depend on elevators for accessibility. The beds weren't horrible, but personally, I tossed and turned all night. The bathroom could have been worse. My biggest complaint was the AC unit. It was absolutely disgusting, I could hardly look at it. I regret not taking a picture for proof, but trust me, you wouldn't have wanted to see it, much less stay in a room where the air you're breathing was circulated with that filth. This hotel was manageable for a one night stay, but I would choose another if you have an option.
