Nice lobby, nice common areas, rooms are clean, they have a mini fridge and coffee maker, beds are comfy. The bathroom had a nice glass shower and tile. This property also has a small outdoor pool, mini business center, a meeting room, free parking with a large lot, an excellent gym (more on that) and of course complimentary breakfast. Speaking of breakfast, Nora is a one woman show and did an amazing job. The eggs, potatoes and sausage were on point. She does the whole spread from the waffles to the yogurt and everything in between, thank you. The gym I must mention and I wish all Hilton's would mimic the setup here. The gym is pretty big, various cardio equipment (treadmills, ellipticals, a rowing machine and a Peloton bike.). They have two benches, free weights up to 75 pounds, a multifunction weight machine, a few kettle bells and stretching equipment. I was so happy, I really like to have a nice complete gym and will choose hotels because of it. Very happy with my stay here and when traveling back up in that area will for sure stay here. Enjoy!

The rooms are always clean, the Elderwood is an ice touch, and the vibe is always fun. During this trip, all was fine when what sounded like the HVAC system above our room started to knock. It's an old historic building so, things happen. The knocking though quickly turned into a roar. We contacted the front desk and this is where the true professionalism of the hotel crew, and particularly Maria, shined through. Maria quickly came upstairs, assessed the situation, triaged with other teams inside the hotel, and identified a solution within 20 minutes. Given the scope of the repair was unclear at the time, she moved us to another room and even upgraded us (even though she didn't have to!) for the inconvenience. Things happen, that's not an issue for us, it's how the team addresses them when they come up. The Darling team rose to the occasion with flying colors so seamlessly in this situation, especially Maria. So for us, just underscores a series of positive experiences at the hotel. This isn't an ultra luxury 5-star hotel, so don't come here expecting that. But it's a great place to stay in Visalia with a premium, boutique vibe, great restaurant, and clean well apportioned rooms. We will be back.

The new owners are reshaping and rebuilding these traditional cabins located in downtown Shaver lake. I stayed in one of the nicest well kept cabins that offered a single Queen bed, roomie bathroom with a wonderfully high shower head( I'm 6'2") and a nice kitchenette. Flat screen TV with local cable. One of the nicest and welcomed amenity was the gas fireplace that was crackling when we entered the room. These cabins are located close to all of the local restaurants and bars with easy walking access to the whole village. I will be making future plans to staying with the knotty pines in the future. I feel bad now that the old owners sold the place and they never got my positive review. There is new ownership here, but nothing has really changed. Everything seems to be the same quality. Every time I'm up in Shaver Lake, I opt to bring my crew here and they love it. Quiet, safe, and we always battle over who gets the upstairs Jacuzzi tub room. The new ownership responds to texts and concerns very quickly. Yes, there are other places in Shaver that look equal to this one, or maybe even more updated and very different, but if you're looking for coziness and "hygge"... This is your place.
