Then, I decided to use the outdoor jacuzzi, changed into my suit, and stepped into an ice bath. Same front desk girl said they've been having problems with it but that maintenance went home. Also, no manager on site. When asked for an upgraded room due to inconvenience, there were no accommodations even though we were only there for a night. Very, very disappointed and this ruins La Quinta's future stays for us. This is the Fowler La Quinta by the way. I'm sure not all are like that so please don't judge all La Quinta's. I specifically booked a king room because I was staying for multiple nights and preferred the room layout. Two queen beds take up considerably more space, and the room felt more cramped than what I had reserved. When I inquired about the change, the response was essentially that no king rooms were available, with little effort made to address the situation or offer an apology. To Expedia's credit, they provided a small compensation after I filed a complaint. However, I was disappointed by the hotel's handling of the issue. A simple acknowledgment, apology, or effort to communicate the room change beforehand would have gone a long way. The room itself was acceptable, but customer service and communication fell short of expectations.

As soon as I got there Marcell at the front desk said hello and asked me how my day was, she was very friendly. The next day I ran into her again and we had another nice chat, thank you for being so kind, great staff member. The property itself is updated throughout. Nice lobby, nice common areas, rooms are clean, they have a mini fridge and coffee maker, beds are comfy. The bathroom had a nice glass shower and tile. This property also has a small outdoor pool, mini business center, a meeting room, free parking with a large lot, an excellent gym (more on that) and of course complimentary breakfast. Speaking of breakfast, Nora is a one woman show and did an amazing job. The eggs, potatoes and sausage were on point. She does the whole spread from the waffles to the yogurt and everything in between, thank you. The gym I must mention and I wish all Hilton's would mimic the setup here. The gym is pretty big, various cardio equipment (treadmills, ellipticals, a rowing machine and a Peloton bike.). They have two benches, free weights up to 75 pounds, a multifunction weight machine, a few kettle bells and stretching equipment. I was so happy, I really like to have a nice complete gym and will choose hotels because of it. Very happy with my stay here and when traveling back up in that area will for sure stay here. Enjoy!

The TV remote was handed to me upon check in. Now I don't know what a TV remote is going for on the black market these days but it must be enough that TV remotes must be carefully safeguarded. (laugh) Also, the AC remote was velcroed to the table for some unknown reason. There were discolorations on the sheets that looked more like bad washing skills than lack of cleanliness. To make sure, I smelled the sheets. They smelled like they were fresh from the wash. Though there is no tub and only a shower, the shower is almost the size of a tub. I also noticed white residue at the bottom of the shower drain. However, it looked like left over cleaning product. As to the see through bathroom window situation, I went to the office and asked for tacks and a large towel to cover it up. The owner was very apologetic and immediately got me a dark pillowcase and tacks. She even offered to personally come to my room (though it was late) to tack it up for me. I told her no worries and did it myself. I think if they move the beds away from the door, complete the renovations and get more training for the housekeeper (which I suspect is the owners and not a professional housekeeper) it would be a great little hotel.

Neither was there a dresser in which to store your clothes. No bedside lamps either. I agree that the hardwood floors were nicer (and likely easier to keep clean) than standard hotel carpet. The beds were very, very firm. that's a personal preference--or lack thereof--but do be aware of it. There were two towels and a washcloth in a cool looking little cubby with 3 round holes to hold them, and a nice little walk in shower...but nowhere to hang the towels to dry, no hand towels, no hook to hang a robe or toiletry kit. No hair dryer, no shampoo, no coffee maker...you will literally live out of your suitcase if you stay here, at least in the double queen room where my wife and i stayed. They were pleasant enough, and refunded most of my money when I wanted to cut things short after paying in advance for several nights. I suppose they didn't have to do that, as I was informed by Booking.com that cancelling with less than a full day notice prior to the start of the stay would result in the full cost being assessed to me. still, just be aware of the limitations. I paid $66 a night for a double queen room as listed above, and then left after one night and went to a Super 8 for $8 more per night and got everything that was listed as missing above, plus softer beds, more room...and of course no sense of unique, individual style. However, I'll take the corporate bland and 'premium' price for a little elbow room and a comfortable bed.
