However, in a society that is currently being led by an incurious man-child possessing neither much critical thinking intelligence or much wit, the arts become even more important as we attempt to hang on to what is left of our soul. In LA for business, I stopped in at BertArt Studio Gallery and was very impressed with her work. I know Clara only through Yelp but I can see why her highly textural abstract works garner such praise and awards. This is art you can feel tactilely and emotionally. Some works evoke the sea, some of personal creation. All are made by Clara with a deep personal investment and heart. She is a kind person, with a lovely energy. She is also an example of how one can never give up on love, as she eventually found the person meant for her. That's a great example for those of us (cough, cough) whose relationship status is always marked "complicated" ;-) Photos to follow. That meant somewhere NOT like Michael's or Aaron Brothers because those people have no clue what they're doing! They are trained to frame, but aren't professionals, and don't have a good eye on what matting and frames would be best for art. Nelson does. Not only did Nelson do a gorgeous job framing my art, he is a crack up. What a character! This is the kind of business I like to support...not giant chains that have clueless clerks who don't care about their jobs lor service! People with a passion for what they do. I would absolutely bring any and all of my art here again in the future. :)

It's amazing how big SoCal is! It is hard for me to believe I have never been to Laguna Beach…read morebefore this weekend. There was even a show on MTV based on this small beach town, LOL. This might explain why there are so many art galleries on every street corner and alleyway, since it is just as beautiful and picturesque as everyone says. My friend pointed out this art gallery as we walked along the Main Street on our way to the ocean, and when we went inside, we saw some of the most magnificent pieces of art hanging on the walls. I found it to be absolutely fantastic! We met the owner and he told us all of the art pieces were created by Ruth Mayer, aka Mama Mayer! Everything was so vivid and vibrant, we were all blown away. The amount of artwork and detail was incredible. A truly special experience!

Scott is the perfect balance of information on the artist and willing to work with you on the price. Not at all into making customers feel intimated or guilt ridden about not knowing much about art. He made the whole experience a fun one and now I feel a connection to William DeBilzan and his beautiful artwork. We can't wait to go to the Marriott Hotel Central Park and experience his work on that scale. It will be fun to stand there taking in the large murals knowing we have our own pieces hanging in our home. A fun gallery with fun art in a non threatening place. What's not to love!!

Yelp HQ retrieved them) Jul 27, 2008 / 4 Stars So, I have heard a lot about The Light Gallery and I have never made it in for any of their openings till last night..... It was not an art opening however it was for a private B-day White Party... (yes everyone was in white) The art that was on the walls was more of a low-brow art scene.. Mind it was a B-day party and it was very dim in here. I met the owner and he was nice really didn't talk much about art because like I said it was dim in here with a DJ spinning and people all over dancing... I always get the invites for events here on myspace and have yet to make it to any of the exhibits... This place is located near the Little Knight bar off of E. 17th street just past Irvine Street. You can't miss the BOLD LETTERS BOASTING THE NAME LIGHT GALLERY... Entrance was in the back... From what I saw the gallery with whatever lighting that made it possible to see was not the sort of galleries that I am accustomed to going to. But, the bathroom was well overly lit.. The art on the walls in the bathroom were cool... The DJ's were fun.. People fun.. Dancing fun... FREE COCKTAILS.. fun.... The random chatting... fun...

The Light Gallery has become a regular weekend spot for me. I like it mostly because the art show…read morechanges every few weeks and feature different themes and artists.....AND.....the DJs spin good music! If you go to the opening or closing event, you'll have a good chance of meeting an artist(s), who do live art many times, which is really cool!. One time I was there and watched 3 artists draw a model at the same time. It was interesting to see how talented they are and the different styles and techniques they use. Definitely not your ordinary OC spot. I've also attended some charity events, which were pretty cool. It's always nice go to a place where you can have a good time and support a good cause. I've also bought a piece from the gallery, and worked with the owner directly. The owner is always there and has a great appreciation for art and has been really nice to work and hang out with.
