I found a used car that I really wanted and negotiated back and forth with salesman Nicholas Rushwin for a couple weeks to a point where I was satisfied with making a deal. I contacted him a few hours before heading over to the dealership, everything was all set to negotiate the final deal on that car, and when I got there he told me they sold the car earlier that day. He couldn't bother to let me know ahead of time despite texting him just a couple hours before; I drove an hour out of my way and had a cashier's check made out for the down payment and everything. Overall very disappointing and frustrating, and incredibly unprofessional on their part. I would strongly encourage anyone to avoid doing business with Nicholas Rushwin specifically, and this dealership as a whole. I definitely will not give them my business and advise against anyone giving them their business either. read more

Took my car here for an AC issue and was told it would cost me $9950 and they had to replace the entire system. Obviously that price is insane so I contacted Toyota of Zanesville and was told that if they had to replace the entire system which is highly unlikely it would be in the $3500 range. Not sure if they were trying to get me to buy a new car off them, but they'll never get a penny out of me again. This was after trying to charge me $275. I guess it's a good thing I had a coupon. I would give zero stars if I could. I took my car in for an oil change and informed them that I was experiencing some squeaking/squealing when I hit the brakes. They replaced the front brake pads, resurfaced the rotors, replaced a caliper, and changed the brake fluid. They also replaced the rear brakes shoes and drums and replaced the rear stabilizer links. That's what they said I needed after an inspection. After that my car got worse. The sounds were more frequent, lasted longer, and were louder. I knew something was wrong. I took it back up there and drove with one of the mechanics so he could hear the sounds for himself. When I asked him if he had any idea on what was wrong he replied "I don't know what that is" in reference to the squealing/squeaking. I left the car there at about 4:30 p.m. so they had 90 minutes on that Thursday to check it out if they wanted to and then my regular appointment was for 7:30 a.m. the next day. At 1:30 p.m. the next day I called to check on the status of my car (so 6 hours after my appointment was scheduled) and was told they were just getting around to looking at it now. They "got busy" is what the woman on the phone told me. If I have an appointment that means you stop what you are doing and tend to my vehicle at that time. It's the very definition of appointment. I immediately went up there to see what was going on. The head mechanic told me they couldn't "recreate" the sounds my car was making because it had been raining all day. Therefore it was not fixed yet or even looked at. Well, which one is it Toyota of Boardman? Was my car not looked at/fixed because you "got busy" or because it was "raining"? I told them I would be back up at closing that day and I wanted my car fixed for free. When I got there they told me they just re-did the front rotors again. The ones they had just done. Why would that need to be done if they just replaced them? I get the car back and the sounds were even worse at this point. Not wanting to waste any more of my money and time I took the car to another shop. There they told me Toyota only replaced one caliper when you are suppose to replace both at the same time, they didn't replace any of the brake hardware, and they had used NO lube/grease on the braking system. Thankfully this shop did the job right for me but it cost me an additional $518. So in summation... if you want to be lied to, ripped off, and possibly killed by shoddy work on your brakes then by all means take your vehicle to Toyota of Boardman. If you want things done right, respected, and live to see another day...take your car elsewhere. read more

I bought a 2018 Kia Optima from you in August. The oil lasted for about a month when it all burned. Turns out this car has been burning oil and was checked in July of 2023. Kia told me this information. You sold us a car for a teenager that has an engine that needs replaced. According to our mechanic there is no way you guys didn't know this car was junk. Now we get to pay for a 6000 dollar engine. I don't recommend you guys at all. Unethical and just wrong. And btw...Kia told me that even if we had bought the extended warranty it wouldn't be covered unless there was complete engine loss. I will never buy another Kia. What a piece of junk. read more

I was in to look at Camrys I was interested in, and was offered no assistance, so I left feeling a little annoyed and insulted. Stephanie D reached out to apologize and I made an appointment the next day to meet with a sales rep. After meeting with sales rep (Kevin Sikora) and taking a test drive, was offered a deal too good to pass up. Also a pleasant experience in the finance office with Keely; no shady monkey business at all during the parade of paperwork. She did try to sell a few last-minute extras but didn't turn evil on me when I declined them. Very happy with the car I got and the deal that came with it. We should have read the reviews before going to this nightmare of a Toyota Dealership. We went in with an issue - a clicking sound coming from our steering wheel when you turn left or right. They tell us it was the STRUTS. Okay. So we tell them to go ahead and do the work to change it. We get the minivan back and the issue is not fixed. So they tell us to bring it in and they'll take a look. They tell us that the issue was because the AFTERMARKET parts were defective so they're going to put on Toyota certified parts. We ask "wait, were the parts you put on the first time not certified?" ... the FIASCO. WE NEVER ONCE asked for aftermarket. We never once asked to "save money". We never once we EVEN GIVEN THE OPTION for either. We assumed bringing our minivan to TOYOTA would warrant Toyota parts. If I wanted S^*T aftermarket garbage I would have brought the minivan to a mom and pop shop. (Which no offense to the moms and pops - we decided to go that way anyway. Honest and LOCAL and FAMILY OWNED) ... so yes. WORDS were exchanged- anger ensued - the dealership may say the act was "belligerent"- but when you put a family AT RISK & you mess with a MANS FAMILY.. I'd imagine one would get VERBALLY "belligerent" ... SHOCKER- THE ISSUE IS STILL THERE... they never fixed it. Probably because ...they're still aftermarket parts AND they MISDIAGNOSED the issue because don't have a CLUE what they're doing. Customers beware. They don't care about your safety or your vehicle. On May 16, 2023 I brought my vehicle in for service. I wanted the vehicle serviced for several reason, the main reason being that there was a slight clicking noise in the steering wheel when turning from left to right. Upon dropping off my car, I had a conversation with a young lady named Samantha, one of the service advisors at the dealership. We spoke about the clicking noise in the steering column, changing some fluids, adjusting the parking break, and an overall check of the vehicle. Later that day I was called and told that the clicking noise was due to the fact that I needed new struts in the front of the vehicle. I agreed to the price and gave them the ok to proceed. The next day I was called and told my car was ready to be picked up. When I picked up the car, the clicking noise was still there and the car felt horrible over and bumps or potholes, etc. I called the dealer, they said to bring it back in they would check it out. They found that the brand new struts they installed needed to be replaced and that it wouldn't be ready until the following day. The following day, I received a phone call from Samantha saying the car was ready and I had "brand new original Toyota struts installed". I asked Samantha "were the struts that were installed yesterday not original Toyota parts"? She said "no, we use aftermarket parts to save our customers money". Well I went to pick up the car, admittedly made a scene at the dealership because I never heard of something so ridiculous that a Toyota dealership is using aftermarket parts "to save their customers money" Here we are 2 months later and the clicking sound is still there and progressively getting worse. I brought my car to an excellent mechanic nearby and they diagnosed the problem to be something completely different. They also told me that the diagnosis of the struts being the issue was absolutely ridiculous and this was not the first time they gained a new customer because of Toyota of Boardman. Stay away from these guys, they're crooks and the only reason they got caught is because the young lady Samantha probably said too much that day. read more

Customers should be aware that THEY WILL NOT ALLOW YOU TO HAVE A VEHICLE INSPECTED BY THIRD PARTY. I was in on the morning of the 27th to see a vehicle, and dealt with Richard, AND the evening of the 27th and dealt with Jason. I also spoke with Jason the morning of the 28th. First off I would like to say that it was quite a pleasant experience working with Richard. He was polite, responsive, & I felt no pressure. The rest of the experience was VERY poor. Their exception to the vehicle inspection being- if you can inconvenience your mechanic enough to come to their shop to inspect it. I don't know any mechanics who have the ability to take that time out of their day. The manager, Jason Albanese was very unprofessional. He would not make eye contact with me, and made all kinds of excuses for their policy. When vehicle shopping, it is ALWAYS recommended to have a potential vehicle inspected by a 3rd party. Why trust the people who are trying to sell the car? They want their money, and once it's paid for and off the lot it isn't their problem anymore. Additionally, Jason had the gall to attempt to insult what I do for a living. I am also a business person. If anyone was unsure of something I recommended or a service I was trying to sell, I would encourage them to get another opinion. That's just good business practice. Of course it is a used car, I don't expect it to be perfect, but I DO want to have it inspected by a 3rd party so I know what I'm getting myself into. They are full of excuses. They will likely try to defend themselves in a rebuttal to this review. But there is absolutely no excusing this practice. I don't care if their shop has looked it over. Again, they are trying to sell it! If they want to lie or hide something, they can. I have NEVER run into a situation when car shopping where I couldn't get a vehicle inspected by a 3rd party. The van they had was priced $1,500 over comparable vehicles in the area, and they wouldn't offer anything more than $400 off their list price. And of course I just have to take the salespeople at their word that it's perfectly fine mechanically. If that doesn't give you a gross feeling in your gut and tell you to run, I don't know what will. Yikes! What a terrible experience. I will never do any kind of business with them again. I would give higher than a five star if I could. On my way in I tripped and my daughter and I fell to the ground. Everyone rushed out and checked on us and was very concerned. We drove from Pittsburgh to check out a Santa Fe. Jessica held the keys for us so nobody bought the car on our way up. Once there Kevin helped us. He was a very nice guy. The car was very well maintained and they helped us close the deal. It was priced to sell so they were tight on knocking anything off, but did take 100 off because alignment was slightly off so we were ok with that. While they filled up the tank and detailed it they have a play room for children, water, pop, coffee, and a popcorn machine that we took advantage of while watching TV. After spending $664.75 for the repair i was shocked to see a $19.95 "other " charge for the courtesy shuttle. talk about squeezing every nickel you can out of something...... not the way i do business. Replied I was only interested in the Honda Pilot and had no trade in. Told them the dates and times I could come look at the Honda Pilot. No reply so I sent another email a day later asking if it was still available and again saying I wanted to come see it that day or the next day. No response again so I bought from another dealer. Everything started off smooth. However once I got to the dealership it felt rushed. I had already financed through a bank in the city I live in. The bank and the dealership began to go back and forth multiple times I was asked by the dealership to finance through them. I advised that I had already done that and my APR is pretty low. I test drove the vehicle I noticed the rear windshield wiper was too big and needed replace. The salesman Kevin Bertilacci insisted that he didn't have anyone in service to work on the vehicle. He eventually suggested the car be delivered once he could get service to look at it. Once everything was worked out through the bank and dealership the vehicle was brought to me. Upon me receiving the vehicle a message came on to say the blind spot monitor was unavailable, I looked in the top corner of the vehicle and noticed the oil change sticker the car needs an oil change and I just purchased it. I live 3 hours away why would you bring me a car that needs an oil change. The car was not put on a full after delivery. I've never purchased a car and it not be put on full. The car also needs rotors. Mind you the car was just delivered to me on May 12. Jason Albanese the sales manger emailed me several times during this process. When I responded with feedback on the vehicle already giving notifications or service being needed, monitors not being available I didn't get a response. When I reached out to Kevin, his response was the message wasn't there before we dropped it off. Which is a lie bc I took a picture of it the same day I got the car. The fact that the dealership received a full payment and I received a car that immediately needs maintenance is extremely terrible. The car also doesn't have all the features that were listed in the description. Poor customer service. This experience was unfortunate. Toyota is big brand dealership. They should definitely look into the people that work at Boardman location. I purchased a vehicle from the Toyota in the city I live in the experience was completely different. The Boardman location took advantage of my distance between them and I feel like if I would have financed through them they might have at least changed the oil. Terrible service. read more

Joanna in service department was great! I purchased a 2010 Prius from a dealer in Michigan a few months ago. An intermittent check-engine light indicated an EGR valve problem. I would've expected most dealerships service people to simply offer to fix the problem and charge me. Apparently this was a known part failure that Toyota extended coverage on. Ask to test drive, review service histories, then lastly look over the money part of things. This dealership has been accommodating and up front with me and my husband every time this is why we are committed repeat customers. I am specifically impressed with the service end of things here. So after reading reviews I had seen that a salesman by the name of Randy had plenty of awesome reviews, so I chose him! I called him, went in the same day. We trust drove a Camry, I wasn't really impressed. I then test drove a Rav 4. I LOVED IT. Rich, in finance, pulled strings and got me 0%!! They got me where I needed to be payment wise. The WORST dealership that I would highly recommend people drive by (don't even look, just keep going!). And, until yesterday I would NOT have said that even if we couldn't make a deal. I'd have to be the first to admit I owe too much on my current car to get a good trade in on my new car; it's "my" problem but one I was hoping this dealership would help me deal with since they keep calling and emailing me that "they want my business". You want my business? Great! Let's meet somewhere in the middle and make this deal happen! Instead, after being told on Thursday there was just no way they could help me, I left -- no hard feelings, I understood, although I hoped in a few more months when my payoff went down, and dealerships got a little more "hungry" (let's face it, the car sales do slow down in NE Ohio come October, November and December) maybe we could work something out. I was in no hurry; time was on my side, so like I said, no hard feelings. But then Friday I started receiving one call after another to come back to Preston, they would do "anything" to make this deal work (they said their numbers just weren't what they needed for July and since this was July 31st, let's do it!). I explained IN DETAIL that I needed $17,600 for my trade in. I explained the highest offer Preston gave me was $15,000. I said if they could even go as high as $16,700 I would write the check for the other $1000 to get rid of my old car's loan. But that's what I needed, not a penny less and if this couldn't happen I did not want to waste their time or mine and drive to Boardman in Friday afternoon's traffic -- it was around 5 pm so I knew traffic would be BAD. I was assured Preston would make it work, again, they wanted this sale for July's quota. I rearranged my plans, my boyfriend rearranged his plans to help me, we drove to Boardman and after waiting five or ten more minutes for "Stephanie" I was told she had no idea why their call center kept calling me, the best they could offer me was $14,000 for my car, which was $1000 LESS than I was offered the day before (and LESS than Honda and a few other dealers offered me) -- what the hell kind of game were these people playing at my expense? I told her I told her call center my pay off was $17, 600. They told me Preston would make this happen. She again said she had no idea why anyone would be calling me like YOU WORK THERE, NOT ME! FIND OUT WHY THEY KEPT CALLING ME! Instead she just stood there, never called the call center, never did anything at all just shrugged her little shoulders and continued to look dumb (or at least "play dumb"). I explained I wasn't mad before but now I was PISSED -- I had better things to do than drive to Boardman (a good half hour from my home) in Friday rush hour. So if you want to play games with people who want to waste your time, go to Preston! Otherwise drive right by and no, this wasn't my first bad experience; this dates back to when they sold BMW's in Warren. After several years of dealing with Preston (and more than one bad experience way back when) I took my business to Walters BMW in Akron -- the customer service was night and day. It's just a shame there is such a pervasive "attitude" of not caring about people and definitely not delivering good customer service in this Mahoning Valley -- very, very bad customer service! I haven't bought one car from area dealerships in the last several years and I guess that's how it works best for me; again, customer service is just too important to me to be treated this way. P.S. Stopped in after work last night with no intentions of buying a vehicle because I thought I was too flipped in my trade but was curious. When I got there Mike "Bubba" Kirkwood was available and showed me a car and it's like he knew the exact one I was looking for. Within a few minutes of talking he had a camry pulled up and ready for me to take for a spin. After the test drive I was very hesitant to look at pricing because I thought it would be pointless with my trade, but I was dead wrong. Mike was able to work with me and they were able to give me more than I could have ever anticipated on my trade and got me into a brand new car at a lower price than what I was currently paying on my old one!
