I have frequented this establishment more times than I can count. My family and I come every season and we have seen it go through many changes, staff and owners. It is one of our essential destination spots! It seems new owners purchased the store during or just after COVID because its definitely different these past few years in a very good way! Before COVID, it was fun and had kind of the same stuff each year, but to be honest, it could have probably used a really good spring cleaning and more current toys. Since COVID however, the store seems anew. It is clean and bright, organized and stocked with stuff my kids know about that I have no clue about...lol But they love it and want it. After a long day doing what the adults want, it has become a goal for them to visit the store as a reward for good behavior. I have read the previous reviews and have to say that I read many reviews about everywhere I go and I don't know if I believe all that was written by the previous posters. The "specific" details and outrageousness seems sensationalistic and quite creative using much of the poster's imaginations. Their words seem sort of "Karen-ish" and quite vulture-esque. I am sure the factual details outlaying whatever event took place are less outlandish and a very good explanation is probably due. I think the interpretation of these posters might be heavily biased in whatever event took place with this girl and her dog. I am sure and sorry that there seems to have been much confusion. I only say this because each and every time my family has been in this store, it has been enjoyable and fun, very much due to the staff, the music and the overall feeling of the store. The man behind the counter and his staff have always been very sweet, respectful of everyone and professional. He has a great sense of humor and knows a lot about the town and the building. His staff seem happy and respect him. After visiting every year, I will also go on record saying that he is one of the only shopkeeps around the port that seems actually nice and engaging with his customers and also seems to genuinely listen and care. He even remembered all of us and our previous topics of conversation an entire year later! The other shopkeeps around the port seem rude, impatient and distracted...but if you come each year, you almost expect their brisk attitudes as part of the charm of the town. Unfortunately I witnessed a male worker ask a teenage girl accompanied by a service dog to leave this establishment because she had her service dog with her. This girl was asked personal/illegal questions about her disability/purpose of her service dog. According to American law: A person accompanied by and engaged in the raising or training of a service dog, including a hearing, guide or assistance dog, shall have the same rights, privileges and responsibilities as those afforded to an individual with a disability under the Americans with Disabilities Act, 42 U.S.C. sections 12101 et seq. Very disappointed to see establishments behaving this way and not taking the rights of humans/animals seriously. I experienced the most ablest thing today in toys in the attic; I was just minding my business shopping for my sons 7 birthday(he wants a Lego ninja go Lego set, I didn't find one ) and I was minding my business when I saw a girl and her service dog(in training) were kicked out of the store! I couldn't help but eavesdrop on the conversation and this is what I heard. The man at the counter asked the group of people who were with the service dog "what are they a service dog for?" And the man with the girl with the service dog said, "we legally don't have to answer that question." But the girl with the service dog didn't have a physical disability, because not all disabilities are physical. My teacher back in middle school would bring her service dog to school, because she would get panic attacks and the dog would "tell"(gently nudging of leading her) her when she needed to take a break. So I particularly understood, yet again I am only a snoopy eavesdropping beauty queen. But coming back to the yelp review, The girl ended up saying that the dog was a psychiatric service dog(in training), and the man behind the counter retorted with "Uh well that sounds like a emotional support dog, get out my shop" he said forcefully. But before anything else happend the man said "see that dog is useless" so that's when I decided my eavesdropping was over and the hunt to find a SERVICE DOG ACCEPTING TOY SHOP had just begun !! Upon reading the other reviews pertaining to the situation of this teenage girl and her "Service Dog" I feel as a local person and avid shopper at this toystore I must respond as I was indeed shopping in the store at the same time that this whole situation took place. I am not one to usually put my two cents in but I've reached my max on tourists treating every shop keeper like complete trash and I am so sick of today's society acting like vultures and being so quick to condemn others. News flash, people lie...customers and reviewers. Everyone has their "own interpretation" of the truth when witnessing situations. In reality there are many different aspects, sides, and reasoning to every story, person, decision and action. I'm not sure if it was the extreme heat causing people to hallucinate or not, but these outlandish statements of how the store employee acted are SO INCREDIBLY far from the truth, it's staggering. From the start of the interaction to the very end, I had a front row seat to it all and NEVER once did he faulter in manners, professionalism or etiquette! He NEVER raised his voice, he NEVER said the dog was useless, and CERTAINLY did not say forcefully to "Get out of my store!!! He also was in the complete right to ask the questions he did according to the ADA ( American Disabilties Act) about if the dog was a service dog and what service does the dog perform. He never once asked any personal information about the girl or judged her. He only asked the two legal questions that are permitted by law. And when it came to light, that the dog was a psychiatric therapy dog, he did say it seemed like that "sounded like an emotional support animal", which CAN be asked to leave a store/restaurant/gym, etc. OK, so maybe he didn't know that a psychiatric therapy dog was infact protected by the ADA. So, let's hang him. I'm not entirely sure who the woman was who came up to the store with this teenage girl and friend maybe a half hour after the first interaction, perhaps it was her mother, but what followed was one of the grossest and most ill mannered rants of all time. She conducted herself very much like a "Karen", flying off the handle. When this lady came up to the store to confront the employee who had spoken to the teenage girl, there was a line of about 5 people waiting to check out. Also at the time, the store was FILLED with onlooking children's eyes. She created a HUGE scene and infront of all occupants. My kids and I were waiting in line, waiting to checkout, when she pushed her way infront us and others waiting. He greeted with a friendly hello and she launched into him with complete disregard to anyone, but herself. She was literally shouting, swearing, claiming she was a lawyer and he would regret his life, that she was going to "have his a**", that he was a complete idiot. Basically, she was very aggressive and caused a scene in a child environment. Poor example of proper parenting and how to handle a sensitive situation. If it was me, I would have asked to speak to him privately. It seems the daughter was becoming more anxious and upset, the more her mother continued to shout and cause her raucous. He kept his composure and advised that if she was going to conduct herself that way in a child environment, she would have to leave, which she did, still screaming down the staircase and out the front door. Afterwards, we asked him what happened as we (my children and I) have built up a rapport coming to the store almost every day that week. He said that several people have come into the store during this season advising that their animal was a "service animal" only to have the animal lunge at a little girl, one afternoon. Service dogs are not meant to be aggressive, so that person lied to him and he allowed the dog in the store. He said that he would rather have no animals in the store in the off chance someone lied about their dog again and it resulted in a child being disfigured permanently for life. But that is not the law. He said he was aware of the ADA laws and maybe they have been updated recently unbeknownst to him to include psychiatric therapy as well, but offending anyone was not his intention. And certainly not to have people in the store causing a scene either. I would say that his intentions seemed more admirable and responsible in wanting to ensure the protection of the children under his watch in this child environment. He never seems to have any ill will or malcontent towards anyone. I will continue to patronize his establishment knowing his intentions are to keep everyone, especially the children safe. Today I was shopping at this store looking for a toy for my little brother. I witnessed an employee degrade a young teenager with a service dog. The poor girl was trying to verify that the dog was indeed working as a service dog aiding a person with major anxiety disorder that is disabled because of how bad the condition is. The worker kept claiming that the dog was an "emotional support" animal and that the dog had no right to be in the store. While, the girl was trying to explain the laws surrounding the rights of service dogs and owners, the worker kept interrupting and denying actual state and US law. At this point, the disabled girl was having a panic attack. All the worker did was keep yelling and arguing with her. The service dog was 100% doing its job for during the panic attack, he alerted various employees that the girl needed assistance and nothing was done. I am very disgusted with the treatment the customer and the service dog received. It is unacceptable. I hope this store and its worker is held accountable. read more

just wandering around the town and find this place. I want to see if they got 3d glasses, too bad they dont have it.. i still manage to get a kite, and a porshe 911. That's good enough for a day. read more
