I did a little holiday shopping at Tanger Outlets in Deer Park and to my surprise there was a Toys R Us store all lit up and full of toys! This sight brought back the good ole days when you got to shop the isles for the perfect toy opposed to endless scrolling online at the internet conglomerates. It's a toy store ... need I say more? It has what you need for the kids in your life. This store is conveniently located and the parking is good. Prices are average and the place is fairly clean. Not much in the way of floor staff to help find something though. And not a quiet relaxed atmosphere since there are always lots of kids who are yelling for their Moms to buy them something ... but ... as I said ... it's a toy store! read more

I've been going to different Toys R Us stores forever. Today I had to run in and grab a few pj's for my 1 yr old. This is really convenient now that the store has merged with Babies R Us. So I walk in the door and ask someone at the customer service desk "You do have onesies in the store correct"? The employee says "Yes, just go around the register, make a right, and I'll have someone meet you there"....um..ok. So I go around the corner and sure enough there is a female store associate, big smile and all, ready to help me. She shows me the onesie rack and HELPS ME PICK OUT the one I need. Talk about service! I was in and out of the store in 10 minutes. Granted this was also on a Friday morning so there was nobody in the store but STILL. I would never have expected such amazing service from a toy store but hey..I'll take it. read more

It's very sad to see this place go. As a child it was my favorite place to go to get toys always asking "Can we go to toys r us please?" This place had an amazing impact on me ever since I was little! I'd thought that this place would never close down. The staff was nice and kind spreading joy to the young ones! read more

While I understand stores tend to hire a lot of young kids around the holidays, they need to teach them some more professionalism. I went to see if I could return something as well as pick up an item I had called prior to see if it was in stock. The two girls behind the customer service counter were joking and socializing when I and another woman approached the counter. They continued to joke with each other and ignored us initially even though they saw we were there. When one girl finally acknowledged me, she was unable to do the return because it was a seasonal item. I was a little dissappointed but I didnt think I was rude...maybe I was and didnt realize? Because instead of saying goodbye or have a good day she abruptly turned away and answered the phone as I was just starting to say "Also I have an item I called about..." So I continued to stand there and wait for her to finish so I could ask about it. The whole time there was ANOTHER girl at the counter who saw me standing there and said nothing. When she got off the phone. She averted her gaze and went to deal with something else. So I gave up and went to look around store. I came back fifteen minutes later and waited online. And let me tell you, I must have really pissed this girl off because she was so short with me. The best part? The entire time she and her coworker loudly chatted, complained about people calling the store, and had their phones out SNAPCHATTING during the customer interactions. The lack of friendliness and complete unprofessional behavior is why I will not go to this store again. read more

I came to this store for the first time tonight and I must say the customer service is terrible! My pregnant girlfriend and myself were looking all over Long Island and queens for a Doc Mcstuffin check up center. The hottest toy of the 2013 Christmas season. The store we visited before said this one was the only store with this item in stock and that it had 60 no less. Now I have worked in retail and have the sense enough to know that for all other stores to have 0 and for this store to have 60 was a bit outrageous but I figured they could at least have a couple. This location is over an hour away from where we live so I figured I would call ahead and ask if there was in fact any in stock. I called over and over again but nobody answered the phone. My 9 month pregnant girlfriend and I went for the long drive during today's storm to get this item and when we got there we were of course told that it was not in stock! One associate at the customer service desk remarked that he had gotten over 15 calls recently about this item. That's funny! I had no clue they actually pick up the phone at this location! They didn't for me! I even attempted to call while inside the store and the number just rang and rang! Another associate at the service desk gave my girlfriend an attitude when she asked her to do another search to see if there were any locations with this item in stock. In my opinion it was the least she could do. There was a third who just shrugged as if to say " it is what it is. Sorry you and your pregnant girlfriend came all this way in the middle of a storm for nothing. "Not one associate seemed apologetic. Each one displayed a nonchalant/who cares attitude about the situation. Not one offered even a single apology. At least have someone look into and fix your item counts! As I stated earlier my girlfriend is 9 months pregnant and was understandably emotional. The associates at this store are uncaring and lack customer service. I understand that they are putting in long hours with this being the holidays and all but at the end of the day they are getting paid to provide a satisfactory shopping and customer service experience. If you don't like the job. Quit and find another one. If it were possible I would give this location no stars! Shame on the staff at the Holbrook toys r us location! You never have to worry about my buisness again since it is utterly clear you don't want it! read more

First off I'll start by addressing the horrendous lack of customer service. Then the one line open at 5pm with a store full of customers made it even worse. There were a bunch of employees spotted, none of which were helping customers so I'm confused on why only one register was open. I went to purchase a bike and then was told I had to pay an "assembly fee". I have a small sports car so if you have one that IS NOT assembled that would be great! They did not have a bike available in the box... My question was, well if you don't have a bike available in the box, then how are you charging me a fee???!!! This is the only one available!!! Then I asked to speak to manager Toni Ann and she not only refused to speak me, I asked 3 times and she kept sending another employee to talk to me. It wasn't until I asked for her name to complain to corporate that she came over to speak to me. She was rude and condescending and if I didn't really want this bike, I would have walked out!!! read more
