I highly recommend working with Tracey during your lactation journey! My prenatal chiropractor encouraged me to reach out to Tracey after I reported a sudden significant drop in my milk supply after receiving some poor advice from another healthcare provider. Prior to our first session, I thought my breastfeeding journey was completely doomed. I had a complicated pregnancy that ended in a late pre-term delivery where there was a hyperfocus on my son's weight and volume of milk consumed per day while in hospital. My drop in supply left me feeling doomed and inadequate to care for my son via breastfeeding, which is critically important to me, especially with so many other things going sideways. Don't hesitate to book Tracey! Tracey's visit with us in the hospital and at home paved the road for us to have a smooth, peaceful experience when our baby was born. When I first saw her, I had bloody nipples due to a poor latch, and I assumed I just would have to get used to it. That was not the case luckily. Tracey was very detail oriented in her assessment of the latch and provided us easy to follow education and resources, and she even involved my husband by providing him with techniques to improve our baby's latch. By the end of our first session, my husband and I were SO relieved, and I was able to feed without the prior discomfort. She even followed up at our home to help me with pumping when I was ready. We owe our breastfeeding success to Tracey! She guided us from our baby not latching at all to exclusively breastfeeding. Our baby did not latch/ breastfeed for his first few weeks (I had to pump and feed him via SNS and then bottle). We saw Tracey when he was 3 weeks old and were successfully breastfeeding by 4.5 weeks! She's also helping me wean off the pump since he's exclusively breastfeeding now. I recommend her to everyone I know who is looking for breastfeeding support, whether they are just looking to improve latch or need extensive help like we did. Having Tracey in our home was such a wonderful experience during such a stressful time on our breastfeeding journey. Her presence is calm and peaceful, and she has an incredible wealth of knowledge. She has an answer for all of my many questions. After assessing his mouth/suck, she observed that our baby had tongue mobility issues and suggested that he might have a tongue tie and lip tie. She recommended that we reach out to a pediatric dentist to have his mouth examined and the ties released, which was critical to our success. The providers at Kaiser didn't notice/recommend that we get his posterior tongue tie released, so had it not been for Tracey, we wouldn't have had this very important procedure done. She supported us with the decision to have his ties clipped and checked in with us regularly afterwards to ensure everything was going well. One of the aspects of Tracey's services that I value most is the continued support. She checks in via text and email, and continues to send resources as time goes on. I can't emphasize this enough: she is wholeheartedly available for additional support after the initial home visit. Is it so reassuring to know that she is still there for me when I have a question or need help! I truly feel that she is invested in our breastfeeding success. She also provides a great book that she wrote. I've referenced it several times when I've gotten a plugged duct, engorgement, etc. It's a great resource to keep by my breastfeeding station to read while pumping and breastfeeding. I plan to reach out to Tracey for baby #2 in the future to get us on track with breastfeeding, regardless of whether we have issues or not. Any lactation consultant can tell you about nipple shields and pumping; Tracey is more than that. She is an incredibly kind, patient, and responsive person, someone you want in your corner to help you navigate not just breastfeeding, but also raising a baby. My LO started nursing at around 5 weeks, after I forced her to. (She had nipple confusion starting on day 3 and my pediatrician suggested I could force her to nurse by not offering the alternative--a bottle). I reached out to Tracey because of our late start to nursing with the hope that she could guide me through my breastfeeding journey. Looking back, I would say I was a hysterical and extremely needy client. My LO seemed to always be crying inconsolably and I was still battling PPD. Everything that seemed to be wrong I blamed on breastfeeding--her poor sleep, fussiness, refusal to eat. I was obsessing over the number of diapers and my LO's weight, and concerned about low milk supply and that maybe my LO was just too old to learn how to nurse effectively. I texted Tracey constantly, often with the same annoying questions over and over again, both breastfeeding related and other, and sent videos of breastfeeding difficulties for her to troubleshoot. She was always super patient and kind to me. She was extremely responsive, always available to console and reassure me, and never gave up on me. At ten weeks, I finally learned that the majority of my LO's troubles and fussiness were because she had trouble breathing (she had a cyst, slightly larger than half an inch in diameter obstructing her airway--which we had removed) and not breastfeeding related. Still, I am so grateful to have had Tracey in my corner during my most difficult time. I really really struggled and I don't know what I would have done if I didn't have Tracey to reach out to. I really struggled with breastfeeding my son, until I met Tracey! My son was failing to gain weight during his first two months of life (he dropped from the 18th to the 1st percentile for weight). Tracey knows what she's doing, and it works! My 7-day-old son, who was born with Down syndrome, had not yet latched and neither he nor I knew how to get him to start. I was also getting less milk from each pump as the days went by, not more. So I called Tracey, who was recommended by my pediatrician (PAMF). What a gift she gave us! She was able to come to my home just three hours after I first called her, and spent two hours with us. She helped us with positioning, latch, nipple shield use, bottle feeding, equipment care, and how to boost my small supply. She was patient, friendly, and not at all judgmental, even when she discovered me making some kinda dumb mistakes. She came equipped with all the stuff I needed (like, when she realized I was using too large a nipple shield, a new, sealed, right-sized one appeared from her bag of stuff). Bottom line, we got my son to latch and suck while she was with us, and the first feeding after she left, he latched again and sucked for seven minutes straight! After the birth of my baby boy, I left the hospital confident as the nurses there said I had a pretty good latch. However, within a week, I started feeling sore and blisters started forming. I was desperate for help and thankfully Tracey showed me how to ensure a deep latch. She was very professional and gentle with my baby. Tracey is amazing. I worked with her about two years ago when my son was born (I know, I'm a little behind the ball!) She is easy to get along with and very professional. She was super accessible (both in terms of home visits and over email), gave practical advice, and was honestly a lifeline when I was deep in it trying to get my first to nurse. She also gave me advice that was super helpful but not directly related to my nursing issues, which I so appreciated as a first time parent. Probably the best was to do a pump first thing every morning while on maternity to build up a stockpile of frozen milk. This tip alone, which I haven't actually read anywhere else, allowed me to exclusively feed my first child milk until he was 14 months (even though he was always a difficult nurser). I met with Tracey 2 weeks ago when my newborn was 1 week old. She was an amazing help. She spent the time with me that the LC at the hospital wasn't able to. Tracey gave me techniques to ease my discomfort, weighed my baby to make sure she was taking in enough milk, and even went over how to use my breast pump. She was completely non-judgemental that I had been supplementing with formula, but after meeting with her I haven't had to give my baby any formula, which (for me) was the goal of the meeting. I've emailed Tracey with a couple questions since our appointment and she's always sent back quick, thorough and thoughtful responses which have been enormously helpful. As a new mom, I never know what is OK and what to worry about, so it's huge having someone to go to for all things feeding, even just to ask if something is normal. I decided to hire Tracey as my lactation consultant after she was highly recommended from a friend. I also spoke with multiple people and I really felt her personality and demeanor was a match for me. I cannot say enough nice things about her.
