This place either needs to be shut down or seriously renovated. I worked with aquatics for years,…read moreand this shop displays a terrible array of neglect and disinterest in its aquariums. Aside from that, there are "shop dogs" that wander freely during all hours. The dogs are not for sale. They are mostly tame, but relieve themselves all over the shop, leaving behind an unbearable odor. This might sound contrived, but I am suspicious of activity going on there. I owned two fire-belly frogs for a few years, and visited this shop only once for crickets. Upon purchase of said crickets, the owner/operator asked me if I needed anything *special*. I said no, that the crickets would do just fine and began to exit. The employee asked me in several different inflections if I didn't come in there for something more special, something not usually sold in stores. I have first hand accounts of other patrons experiencing the same kind of badgering and insistence. If you need pet supplies in the NRV, as much as I hate to say it, please go to PetSmart. There used to be a nice shop on West End, but it seems to be closed now.

A friend and I ventured over last week, excited to find a pet store in the area. After visiting…read morehowever, I'm torn between telling everyone to go and rescue the animals there and warning anyone & everyone to stay far, far away from this place. The last thing I wanna do is see them gain business, but the animals there -desperately- need rescuing. The place is dark, dingy, cramped & cluttered, w/too-small cages stacked on top of each other and everything from the facilities to the cages themselves in need of major upkeep, care & maintenance. I felt like I was going into a 3rd world black market animal seller (for food or for Heaven knows what I don't know..) when I walked in, and you can feel the desperation & despair of the animals, being forced to live in those bleary, squalid conditions. It was clear the critters themselves weren't getting the attention & care they needed, and the space itself was just.. extremely unsavory. I'm not against pet stores in general, so please don't mistake me for someone who'd review any pet store thusly.. but I do love animals, and that place just made me want to cry. After leaving "Classy Critters," I wish I could take every pet they had home with me; from the cockatoo to the tarantulas, right down to the ferrets & fish.. just so they wouldn't have to live there. :((( Sooo very, very NOT good...

They said it would be cold this weekend but I was still caught off guard when we rolled into town…read morefrom NJ and it was less than 10 degrees. This may be the first time it's gotten colder the farther I drove south. Anyway my dog LOVES to play in my grandmother's fenced backyard and after a 9 hour car ride I knew his zoomies would be next level. I was psyching myself up to head over to C'burg to one of the big box stores to find a doggie jacket when I spotted Kibbles. Could it be??? A local pet store in Radford??? I pulled over and called to confirm they had coats in stock and that pets could come in. Me and my dog tried on 3 different coats - Ruffwear for the win - and I also nabbed him a stocking stuffer for Xmas morning. What a pleasant surprise. I was shocked that the employee said the store has been there 8 years! I'm telling everyone I know - my local family is full of pet lovers and will enjoy patronizing a local business.

I like to support local small businesses. I've had two incidents where they were unbending and righteous in their response. One was when I inadvertently put a scoop of the higher priced (by .49) biscuits in my bag. Told the manager at the check out and he said he would have to charge me the higher price or I could go get another bag! ONE Scoop! The second was I purchased two bully sticks and only got home with one and when I called the owner insisted he put it in the bag. I said it was not in my bag and they should offer me another. Then asked to speak to the owner and while waiting was cut off. I spend on the average $85-100 month here. You would think they could keep a loyal customer happy?! Won't be going back!!
