However, I do brush him out, bathe him, and make sure he is comfortable. He is very curly and long right now and yes has some mattes like behind his ears and in collar area. I made an appointment at Petco in Brick because our normal groomer is usually very booked out. We get there this morning and the groomer JAMIE pets him once and says " he is completely matted. Down to the skin, Im going to have to shave him" I said "He is not matted down to the skin and we do not want him shaved" she said " yes he is" I said " we do not want him shaved" and she said " well thats all I can do". I looked at my husband and asked him what he wanted to do, before he could say anything she chimed in saying " im going to have to reschedule this anyway, its gonna take too long". My husband, we are done here and we walked out. We took the ride to our normal groomer (an actual groomer), explained what happened at the petco. The groomer took one look and said, he is not matted. Took the time to play with him and pet him good, he then got out his comb and it went through his fur perfectly fine. He turned to us and said " he is gonna brush out just fine, they just didnt want to do the work"......I will be honest and say our groomer is more expensive but well worth the money for the quality of work and treatment of their clients

This review is for the Dog Grooming…read more Dog grooming is what we come here for-and dog toys-- GiGi was absolutely the best groomer when it came to taking care of our Duchess (Rottie 14 yrs old) and then we added Bella Luna ( Boerboel 2014), when GiGi left Petco unexpectedly, we still took Duchess and her rubber ducky until she passed away in 2016. However, Bella only loved on GiGi. So Bella is bubbled bathed at home and has her nails and such taken care of by her vet. So fast forward from 2013 to now 2017- we adopted Kona and she is another (loves on everyone) so after 9 months of home bubble baths-- today was her first spa day, besides drinking the water from the bath water spicket (which always makes bathing her an Olympic sport) she truly enjoyed her full spa experience. Nails trimmed, ears cleaned, shampoo, conditioning, brushing the whole deal, she looks and smells all girlie girl beautiful. Thanks grooming dept. for taking such good care of Kona. Petco has a huge variety of toys, litter boxes, cat trees, snacks and food even books on breeds so you can learn more about your fur baby and don't forget dog training... so we go over to get new stuff as needed..
