Salesman was pushy. I didn't appreciate that when I'm coming in to do one thing. Would not recommend this store.

Although, we visit every 2-3 years, we went there to find better shoes, recommended by his podiatrist, specifically mesh gym shoes. My husband had an awesome young salesman, who gave him a ton of suggestions. He knew how it felt to have foot issues. While they didn't have the same foot issues, this salesman certainly exceeded expectations, and went way out of his way to help him out. He was very satisfied, as usual, with his visit to the Shoe Box. The staff are always helpful and extremely friendly.

I told her I just wanted to browse. She said if I needed anything, to let her know and she would get sizes and then left me be, which I appreciated. As I was looking at styles another employee approached me. Every time I touched a shoe, she would ask me if I wanted to try it on. She wouldn't leave me alone and was very annoying, looking over my shoulder and commenting. At one point i decided to just look over the shoes while sitting in a chair so she wouldn't follow me around and comment. When I did pick a shoe to try on, she brought out a 1/2 size up one in a wide. I knew neither would fit, and they didn't. The first employee had it right and I wish I could have given her a sale, as I know they work on commission. The second employee was annoying, so much so that I don't think I will shop there again. I ended up buying a pair that I wasn't looking for in the first place, just to get out of there. I would have stayed longer to shop if not for this annoying employee.

This is more of a review of Marmot than of Fontana Sports. I bought my first Marmot down jacket…read morehere, and it lasted almost twenty years before the zipper broke. It kept me so warm and toasty in the brutal upper Midwest winters. I discovered the Marmot brand here in the 1990s. Back in the 1990s, Patagonia was not considered as "technical" and as bougie as Marmot and The North Face. Arcteryx either didn't exist or was an obscure brand almost thirty years ago. Now, Patagonia and Arcteryx are off-the-charts insanely priced. Marmot and The North Face are considered "value" brands. In any case, I still buy Marmot; it's better quality and far better value than Patagonia because: 1. Higher down fill power and 2. Higher down fill weight I recently bought a 700-fill down parka from Marmot with 220 grams of down for far less money than a 600-fill down parka with 150 grams of down from Patagonia. I was cold in the Patagonia parka, and it was horribly expensive. I had to return. I also bought coats from Eddie Bauer and from L.L. Bean. Nowhere nearly as warm as Marmot. The Marmot down parka that I recently bought is called the Montreaux Coat, and I've yet to find a warmer coat at such a great price point. It hits my knee, although it's supposed to hit my calf, so that's a bit misleading on their website. It's closer to parka length than coat length. I like that when the zipper broke after almost twenty years of owning my first Marmot down jacket, I called Marmot's Customer Service, they sent me a shipping label, and they said that they would gladly repair the zipper for me, for free. When they couldn't repair the zipper, they just sent me a new Marmot down jacket. So, I wore that complimentary replacement jacket for another ten years before finally buying the Montreaux coat this year almost thirty years after buying my first Marmot down jacket from Fontana Sports.

i still miss the west side store! Every day!!!!! Wonderful store! Ski tuning was wonderful!read more

I called, sat on hold, then had someone call me back. She said she can apply the discount and then wanted my credit card number. I told her that I wanted to use the PayPal option to check out and she told me that I don't get the discount. I ask why not? She said the item I want is excluded. Really?? They advertise 20% for new sign ups and nothing says that anything in particular is excluded. I told her that she must be able to give me coupon code to use to get the discount and she said no. So then I asked her to delete my account and that I did not wany any SPAM from them No emails, texts, or calls. She said she handled that by deleted my account. Guess what I still get??? Is this how DSW attracts buyers? False advertisement and once they have your email or phone, they spam you forever? I will NEVER shop with DSW.
