We came here during a vacation with the girls! The staff is so nice and sweet, one guy even let me open a bag of popcorn because he wanted to prove to me that the flavor was good. It was a new flavor. The check out is always very nice, they answered all these questions that I had. I noticed that the handwriting for the prices were done so nicely- I heard they have either different staff do that or they hire an artist to do the displays. read more

Arroyo Grande's Trader Joe's is no ordinary Trader Joe's. This Trader Joes is the best Trader Joe's. For one, this location sits on top of a hill of a giant parking lot overlooking the 101. The customer service here is terrible I'm shocked because usually the cashiers are so friendly the cashier I had did not greet me and didn't not say bye or thank you and just gave me my receipt with sort of an attitude. The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly - I just discovered the best yogurt ever. It's TJ's Apricot Mango Greek Yogurt. It is thick and delicious, especially compared to other yogurt brands. TJ's Hummus is also delicious and a bargain compared to hummus at other stores. Some of TJ's bagged vegetables are wonderful. They include green onions, romaine hearts, and sugar peas. I have bought some baked goods that had mold on them, including bagels. But most were delicious and fresh when I bought them. TJ's fresh chicken wings have big ugly pinfeathers sticking out of them. And, even worse, last month I bought two small steaks that smelled awful when opened with a good Use By Date. read more

We love going there to purchase our groceries, they have great quality and good pricing. The only downside is the service we receive when paying, we buy our groceries for the week and it's a shopping cart full of food. Here is the negative when we go to pay the cashiers always shame us for purchasing lots of food making rude comments, for example.. you guys must be hungry, or did you guys run out of food at home, you sure you not forgetting something with a sarcastic tone. We are spending about $200 on groceries and getting shammed for it. read more

One of the best ran and maintained TJ's I have never been to. It wasn't too crowded and everyone was so friendly. The parking lot does share with other shops, which made it a little cramped at first but the actually shopping experience here was above par. And during a pandemic I felt safe and not crowded like other places which, again, super impressed by. read more

It wasn't too crowded. They always have the best selection of filet mignon. I also like their smoked salmon. The chicken marsala/microwavable is amazing. The chicken Parmesan isn't too bad either. I like their stream chess. The microwavable from frozen jasmine rice is a must buy. The Chinese chicken salad is great to have now and then. A lot of people don't know they have hey Tom's brand deodorant, facial products, soaps etc. I really like the corn bread in the box and you bake it at home. Well it's in the oven and it's getting close to being done put a little butter to melt on top and then also add real maple syrup to crystallize on top and it comes out amazing. This traders Joe's is pretty awesome. I love my go to in Templeton but this one I feel has a lot more things. Like more variety of beer, hard alcohol, food etc. Parking is great too. You do not have to try and squeeze a big truck in a tiny spot. They have one huge parking lot and then another one on the side they share with i believe chilis. Customer service was really good. He bagged on all our groceries even though we usually do bbn it ourselves, he did a pretty good job. We were bummed they did not have any of the squirt water bottles but no biggie. read more

I love this store but today is why! My house guests wanted the tolled corn chili and lime chips. I didn't see them and "Howrad" lived up to his name. He saw me looking and offered help. TJ's has gone DOWNHILL....kind of like me. Even though there are some goodies that I still get here, which are relative bargains, they are overwhelmed by more & more pseudo-crap that crowds the shelves. Single remaining Italian Prosciutto, but not all the crappy subs next to it. The distribution of juices & sweet teas have turned to vastly sugared sweeted over sugary crap...like sweeted ice-tea ( but good to make home-brewed Kobuchka). The are few 100% juices left (Cherry, Blueberry, Unfiltered Apple) that are bottled. The fresh OJ is now more than fresh Tangerine juice...go figure. The chips, cereal, cookies, baked goods & more are high sugar. Their dairy is still OK & they do have a decent Greek Yogurt. Their veggies & fruits are always too expensive & not local. The local Farmer's Market have fresher stuff at lower prices. The bargains that I go for are: Wild Canned Red Salmon Wild Salmon Lox style Sardines & other seafood packed in H2O WInes- in particular German White - Riesling Section- Aulese, Spatlese, Swartz Cat, LIebfrowmilch ( Mother's milk at $3.99!). Beers -imports- Pilsner Urquel, Spaten, etc.... Maple Syrup - Grade B Jug High Protein Tofu ( excellent) & Tempeh Cheeses - Goat, Cambert, & anything smelly. Instant Miso Soup Irish Stone cut Oatmeal - add dried fruit, nuts, ext.... ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Overprice or crap that I avoid, or rather get in bulk at Kostko, or elsewhere: 1) Most veges & fruit. ($$$$) 2) Vinegar & oils (now small & $$$$) 3) Most "fresh" fish, meats, & chicken. (not the freshest) 4) Sugary cereals 5) Dips (most fatty & $$$) 6) Pre-paced cold cuts (WF has better...but for more $$$$) 7) Cookies & Baked Sweets (low quality, tons of additives & sugar) 8) Chips & such (overpriced for small bags) 9) Teas are a rip off 10) Bottled water, except for TJ Sparkling which is a nice low cal treat. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ If you have shopped at TJ's for decades, like I have, you have seen everything shrink & go up in price. Gone are the days of big jugs of Balsamic Vinegar & Olive Oil. Kostko is far better for some bulk staples. read more

I haven't been to Trader Joe's in very long time and I'm glad I came back. I didnt realize how much I missed grocery shopping here. The produce section looked so colorful with all of the yummy fruit I couldn't resist the organic bananas and apples. I love their pre made orange chicken in a bag in the frozen section along with a bag of veggies fried rice makes a quick meal. They also have a nice selection of beer and wine, chips, snack ect... The employees are very friendly, helpful always willing to assist you with anything. The cashier that checked us out was nice and personable yet professional I felt like I've known him forever, I didn't get his name. The store seemed clean, stocked and organized. I'll will return in the near future for my every day groceries needs. read more

I was rushing around the store as I usually do - holding everything in my arms - and drop my container of salsa. It breaks and spills on the floor. I'm obviously embarrassed and not two seconds pass before the first employee comes over and tells me it's okay and starts cleaning it. A second employee at the check out has me set down the remainder of my things and a third employee verifies the item with me and goes to grab a replacement. Seconds of reaction time people! The checkout staff are always politely chatty which I unknowingly greatly appreciated during the lockdown as my social life went closed to zero. Awesome Trader Joe's and I have been coming here for over ten years which sounds insane to say! I really appreciate the liquor collection they have here after coming from a state where there is not alcoholic beverages in the Trader Joe's stores! I love that Trader Joe's even has its own brand for a lot of whiskey and gin. There selection is off the charts & especially for rose, don't even get me started! It was thrilling when Trader Joe's finally had a store in San Luis Obispo. No more driving to Ventura, then to Santa Barbara to stock up on all our favorite supplies. The quality of the food is exceptional and the prices can't be beat for many luxury items. There is an urban legend that the founder of Trader Joe's designed the store so that his mother, who was a school teacher, could afford to get cheese, crackers and wine. As a school teacher myself, I am really grateful for this business plan. Thanks to Trader Joe's, I can put together a huge cheese plate or tapas within a budget. I can even afford fine wine to go with my hors d'oevres! My new favorite Trader Joe's is Arroyo Grande. It is probably because everyone is so friendly in there, and they always have delicious samples in the back. It is also not as crowded as the San Luis Obispo store is now that there aren't enough super markets there. San Luis also gets massively crowded anytime Cal Poly goes in session, with students stocking up on necessary items. Anytime after noon on Sunday is usually jammed. At the AG store, even after work, I can get a parking space, and cruise around the store, knowing that I won't be facing a huge line for checkout. All the employees are friendly and helpful, and it doesn't hurt that many of the checkers are my ex-students! read more

Despite the amazing/ efficient Covid protocols, I have NEVER had a bad experience at this Trader Joe's. They must have strict hiring requirements because everyone that works here is sooooooo friendly! Kudos to the GM for keeping such an amazing staff. Words can't describe how much I enjoy shopping here. The only thing I wish they had is a more diverse produce selection. Something as simple as cilantro. I have to go to a whole different grocery store just for cilantro. Their might be a specific reason they can't sell such produce but if I had to make a criticism, that would be it. A for-awesome Trader Joe's - well stocked, clean (including the restroom), and excellent service. Sizable too, and my main reason for coming here to review -- they had several things we can't even get in San Francisco last time I checked, which is under a week ago. Most notably, they had Gingeroos (a low-fat ginger cookie in the Trader Joe bag). I LOVE Gingeroos. I first found them in early June in Eugene Oregon on our way up to the Oregon coast. And we totally fell in love with the buggers (so much we hid them from my parents, whom we were meeting -- I am a horrible greedy Gingeroo-obsessed daughter). I totally digress. So, Eugene to our north has Gingeroos. Arroyo Grande to our south has Gingeroos. Why doesn't San Francisco (or Daly City, or Menlo Park, or Burlinggame or whereever that other TJs we have been to) have Gingeroos? Why is bay area Gingeroo free? This is getting ridiculous. Other good can't-find-in-SF finds were the Low-Fat Cinnamon Rolls (I used to get these, but they disappeared on me until today), Sutters Formula cookies (an awesome peanut chew with chocolate chunks and a comparatively lowish fat count), and a Lowfat Apricot Teacake. They also had a lowfat marble teacake as well. I sure hope to see those up our way, love their healthy loafs. Anyway, an excellent Trader Joe's for sure. I have to say that TJ's really hires the friendliest people - whereever we go we seem to stop at a TJ's, and they always have super-friendly cashiers (and today was no exception - they guy with the peace sign necklace would have definitely received UFC votes from me if I could). No big crowds, no crammy, small parking lots, no rush like their LA stores. Loved this TJ's. It actually looked like a legit supermarket! This Trader Joe's is right off the 101 freeway in Central California right before/after Pismo Beach. It is really easy to get to and this location is not too busy. You'll find all your TJ needs like any other location. No big lines, plenty of parking space and a great location. read more
