It was nice to find a Grocery Outlet near Pismo Beach and near the freeway. They have a large self park parking lot. There was plenty of parking spaces near the front. It was nice to find everything and some extras of what we were looking for. They had everything on our list without having to go to a different store for certain items. I have been a regular customer here for many years. Last week, I urgently needed to pee but the customer bathroom was locked, and the doorknob said occupied. After waiting and knocking and more waiting and knocking, no response, so I asked the manager if I could use the employee bathroom, because it was URGENT. He said no, I had to wait. Ok. I waited some more, but I was about to wet my pants, and my lower back was hurting, by my kidneys. I finally asked an employee if they could unlock the customer bathroom door because whoever was in there wasn't responding to the knocks. No . Then I said I was going to call 911 since apparently somebody was passed out in the bathroom. So then she reluctantly unlocked the door and it was empty. So I guess they just don't want to open this bathroom to the public. Ok, Just be honest about it, and don't have me wait. RUDE. Cruel. So to the other customers, be warned, don't wait or ask, the manager and cashiers will lie and just hope you eventually leave. I hope the owners read this and decide to change this bizarre policy. read more

Bought yogurt that was moldy, put it in a smoothie and didn't even realize until noticing it tasted like dirt. Bought all the ingredients that day, they would only compensate for yogurt and not other wasted product which I get but also a very upsetting situation and they should have other measures to help customers feel better besides just a refund, I drank mold because of them, a refund didn't feel like enough, I don't know if this is going to make me feel sick. I've been going to this store since they opened. Without a doubt, Susan and Linda are the most genuinely courteous, helpful and likeable cashiers around. Angelica is an excellent, top tier manager whose overwhelming warmth and positivity also sheds a wonderful light on the store that reflects fantastically with their unbeatable prices. I hear the owners are very kind good people although never have had the pleasure of a conversation with them. I was at the grocery outlet today in pismo beach. With 4 customers waiting to be checked out. The checketer was being berated by her boss. Right in front of the customers. It was about a one dollar refund. As her boss berated, the checker named kim. We all watched in astonishment how rude this woman was to this employee. About one dollar!!! I hope the owner or manager.Does something about this. If this woman was a manager and does not have the sense not to make issues in front of customers, she should be fired. read more

Prices here are much lower than a regular grocery store. May not be the freshest produce or name brand products but they also carry powdered vitamins of all kinds for supplementing smoothies extremely reasonable. I shop here several times a month. read more

The store is clean and the people are friendly. It is an excellent place to buy wine. If you see something in the store that you like you should buy it. The prices are very good but they don't have any items on a permanent basis. The only downside is there is homeless people around this store because of the discount stores in the area. I like coming here and finding some good deals on items that I cannot find at Trader Joe's. Also there is always some type of Kombucha or pre made coffee drink here that is a fraction of the price of what it would be at Whole Foods. They also have good deals on Keurig coffee pods from Dunkin Donuts which I like but check the date before purchasing. Some stuff is close to expiring. read more

Local Eval: Balloon filled grand opening! We definitely do appreciate another Grocery Outlet that is closer to the 5 Cities/Pismo Beach area. It & a fitness center occupy the former K-mart site, which really did not see too much business. As opposed to some of the other major nearby supermarkets, such as Von's or Cal-fresh, it does generally has better prices. It does complement nearby Smart & Final [bulk bargains], Trade Joes [gourmet/specialty], Aldi's [some German eats & bargains], & other various groceries, bakeries, butcher shops, & more. As for now, it is spanking new and clean, and is stocked full of all the mainstream items, that one sees in the other three local Grocery Outlets that are in SLO, Atascadero, or Los Osos. I did notice, that they seemed to out of sanitary wipes for carts, and most carts were stacked at the far end of the parking lot. People either snagged carts from checking out customers, or used hand totes. This defeats efforts to curb the spread of flu, cold, viruses, & other pathogens. Our local city governments should step up ASAP to require that large markets do their part in good hygiene at this time. Especially when it is busy, they should not only have someone bring a cart back to the store, but to at least wipe down the handle with either a bleach or Lysol cleaner that is approved to kill at least 99+% of pathogens. Obviously, they had a ton of new customers that may not have ever been to one of them, based on a few conversations. As each G.O. is a bit different, and may have different bargains, or "closeout" items, an "experienced" customer, can quickly scan through the various selections to see what may be more unique, or a super-deal. Since they are new, I only saw a few unique items, that I do not recall seeing at nearby stores. Also since they are new, items that get discounted when close to, or at their expiration date, are not yet evident, but hopefully will be available in the future [as they "age"]. Since we already had stocked up on several large bags of Quinoa at the SLO location a few months back, which was one of the true bargains here, we did not need that, nor other stuff we had already stocked up at their other locations. We were also on a mission to stock up on lots of bulk dried goods in case of an emergency of a possible epidemic & a run on stores, which we heard is happening to some areas in the SF Bay area, now that there is likely community transmission. We now have enough Quinoa, Rice, Beans, Bran, Tylenol, cleaning products, & more to last for quite awhile. For some reason, Costco is no longer the go to place for many bulk items, especially if you do not want to pay the "organic" premium. Regardless of emergencies, it is always wise to buy things that have a long shelf life when you find a great discount, as with Grocery Outlet's Canadian Quinoa. It seemed that the meat/poultry selection appeared quite fresh and nice, while the dairy was a bit "pricey" in respect to Yogurt. A large container of Fage can be now found in a number of places at the same price. While I did not spend too much time checking out the wine selection, I did not notice as many local, Moscato, or German wines, as another location. Since they are brand new, they will need time to adjust to the area, and I do hope that they will eventually offer more of the outlet bargains that we have come to love at their other locations. In terms of location, proximity to the 101, and ease of parking, they are in an ideal location. Welcome to the neighborhood, but please up your game with providing wipes and clean carts. read more

The Grocery Outlet store that know of is a store that will try and have what other grocery stores have... groceries.. at a low price. I know that when I go in I won't be looking for high quality name brand products. Today I was on my normal travels and I had to get some fruit, so I see the Grocery Outlet and I stop and knowing what I'm here for go inside. Right off the bat in front of the store I see a nice bag of lemons, so I grab them. I then proceed to the back and find my Fuji apples, and I see a nice pack of tomatoes and I pick them up. I was only there for the apples but the presentation of the lemons and tomatoes was a an impact buy. Customer service was excellent, I don't know how the associate that was helping me could be in such a great mood especially with a mask on, but at these times its something we all have to get used to. Very disappointed; I've shopped here since they opened on a pretty regular basis and have always been pretty happy with the quality and service. Last week I made my weekly grocery purchase which included a larger bag of salted dry roasted macadamia nuts. When I got home and prepared to use them in my recipe, I (thankfully) tasted them before dumping them into the mix. They were rancid and absolutely disgusting - in fact it was the smell upon opening the bag that really alerted me to the issue. I double checked the date on the bag and they should've been good until December. Today when I stopped to do my grocery shopping I brought them along with me; I thought the management of Grocery Outlet would appreciate knowing they had spoiled food on their shelves. I stopped at the checkstand before I began my shopping to ask the young lady if I needed to leave them with her first or what I should do. She asked for my receipt, but I had never received one. I advised her of this, and offered to show her my credit card transaction on my phone from last week. She's very kurtly and loudly stated they would not accept the item - I MUST have the receipt. I tried to explain to her I did not want to return it, I simply wished to exchange them for non-rancid product, but she completely dismissed me. I left them on the check stand and told her I won't be shopping there anymore. Sadly, your $4.99 package of spoiled product just cost you a good customer. It wasn't like I was asking for cash back I just wanted what I paid for. If you're going to insist on a receipt accompanying any return then you should actually provide a receipt to the purchaser. read more

Grocery Outlet Bargain Market is the newest Food Retailer in Arroyo Grande. Unlike their Grand Opening, the store had nary a sole in it, as we checked out all the different departments. I am not a particular fan of this Chain Market, due to the fact that I can not find a product I may enjoy and have purchased in the store previously, with any consistency. What is there one week, may not be there the next or for that matter ever again! I happen to need a couple of heads of Cauliflower to roast this evening and since I had not patronized this location yet...thought we could go in and give it a try. The store had adequate square footage, yet the departments like Deli, Meat and Produce (all normally "premier" departments on the "Cake Walk" or perimeter of the store) were all disappointingly small. The "presentation" of the products offered was fine (fresh and appealing), but the "bargains" were, well...not here! Cauliflower was priced quite a bit higher than at the Kroger Store I normally buy from. I quickly scanned the shelves for my normal "shopping items" and was disappointed in the "general" grocery isles for lack of selection...and again, surprised at the generally higher pricing. The Store Associates did not disappoint, however, in their Customer Service and trying to be as helpful as possible. Unfortunately, this was not enough to make the grocery shopping experience as fulfilling as what we had hoped for. Because of this, in this Yelper's opinion...the Grocery Outlet Bargain Market in Arroyo Grande, has only earned a 3 Star "average" review. read more

Our area is still small and uncrowded enough that i pop in to get specific grocery items at several stores. First stop is either Trader Joes or Grocery outlet (then California Fresh third) i don't know how grocery outlet does it but they have a relatively large selection of quality organic products at great prices. Same goes for their wines. Try a few unknowns & you'll be back to stock up on one or two new favorites. If you've never been, give them a try. I believe each location is individually owned, so you'll be supporting both local staff & owners who put their money back into the community! read more

Loving this store since it opened. I have been to two other Grocery Outlets on the Central Coast and this one is my favorite. The store is always CLEAN, spacious, lots of variety and the staff are very nice. They also keep their shopping carts under control in the parking lot. They have a wide variety of wine, craft beer, large selection on frozen foods, produce and I particularly like their vitamin/protein/health section. Always great deals. I also go in weekly to see what kind I feel plants/flowers they have. Definitely a store to walk through on a weekly basis to find some great deals. Unlike Paul I'm not going to bore you with random philosophies on buying quinoa or give this place a three star review for a lack of cart cleaning wipes or cart availability issues on their first day of business. Give it a shot if you never been to one. I've been a GO customer for 20+ years and I recommend doing at least a once a week run through the store. They will get randomly awesome items at very reasonable if not amazing prices. Of course not everything is going to be an amazing deal and some things might be a little closer to their expiration date but if you know that going in it'll help you avoid the pitfalls. read more

It is an ok store, and since I am often nearby I have often popped in for whatever they have that looks interesting. Today - at least 3 people with no mask. Not even pulled down. And one employee with it pulled down. I guess work is out they do not care. So, they can have that clientele, but I am done. Like others have said, Review your receipt in store! If they make a mistake and charge you twice for something, good luck getting your money back. Here's how it goes, you get to the cashier and present the receipt of the duplicate charged items. She says "can you go and get the items from the store that we're duplicated, so I can scan them and then I can give you a refund". Uhhh.. so, not too happy about that, but ok. Off shopping I go to find the items. I return to her register with the items and she says to me "Im checking other people out right now, can you goto the end of the line?" Are you kidding me? Seriously? I calmly explained to her "I am not going to the end of the line again, you can process the refund after you finish with the customer you're finishing up with". Wow, such attitude! I asked her, "why are you so upset with me? I didnt cause this problem, the cashier did." I know its tough finding staff these days, but Grocery Outlet, you've got to find better, or at least train the staff you have better. read more

I was recently in your store and when I was checking out cashier Kelly 0118 was very rude. She rushed me to check out when no one was behind me. There was additional things I am leaving out due to privacy for myself. I have always had such nice cashiers but this one was terrible. I just shopped at this store and came home and compared the prices to Von's and Food for Less and Walmart and they were way more, not just a little, on many items. Tom's toothpaste, $6.99, Walmart $9,98 for 2. Russet potatoes $1.99 per lb, at Vons $.85 lb. La Croix water 12 pack $4.69. Walmart $3.89. Being a single mother with two young kids makes grocery shopping an adventure yet sometimes challenging. Of all the grocery stores on the Central Coast, we have agreed that Grocery Outlet in AG is our favorite because of how consistently kind and patient the staff is and how well we are treated. I often leave the store remarking to my children how a particular staff member modeled kindness. I cannot recall a single time I have gone in there and have not been met with a smile, understanding demeanor, or compassion. This is truly a little gem of a store, the prices are great for a single-income family, but the warm people are why we continue to shop here. it's a safe place for a family to shop. I love Grocery Outlet's and have been an avid shopper of the SLO one since it opened. I was very excited for this one to open and it has been the store I've shopped at since SIP started. However. I have not been impressed by safety measures being taken by this store during the COVID-19 outbreak. I have yet to see employee's properly wearing their masks - most have their noses uncovered, or have the mask around their neck etc. One cashier just full on didn't have one on while helping me. She said multiple times "Oh, I forgot to put it back on". I decided to ignore it, as I get that wearing them all the time is annoying. But, once she was done, she then grabbed a mask from under the register and put it on - why not do that as soon as you noticed?! Also, this store in particular is not clearly stating rules. I was chastised by a cashier for bringing in my own bags. Sorry, I'm not shopping very often these days and am thus not clear on what the rules are for each store unless you clearly state what the are. A friend told me that the SLO Grocery Outlet has a HUGE sign at the entrance to the store, kindly asking people to leave bags in the car at the moment. Please follow suit! I want to make things easier for cashiers and I want to do what is safe and follow the rules, but I need to know what they are first and it's embarrassing to be harassed by cashiers. Also, reviewed my receipt when I got home and saw I was charged $0.90 CRV for one $0.33 sparkling water. Review your receipts in store. read more
