I was shopping on September 29th and walked-in pretty beat after a really difficult day of seeing Doctors. So, I figured I pop-into the store & grab some of my favorite Trader Joe's goodies. At checkout, I encountered the kindest, most humble & professional young lady; "Taylor". This woman treated me with an unbelievable heart! They say a loving God works through people and Taylor's genuine positive yet professional balance in concert with her kind & compassionate demeanor ABSOLUTELY blew me away! I LOVE our Trader Joe's!! Well, my experience at other TJ's has been good as well, but the AG store is my home store. It's my favorite overall place for general grocery shopping. I can get most everything I need there. They are always coming out with new items that fit a need/want of mine. Occasionally they stop making an item that I Love... and those are very sad days but we move past it and find new things to Love. Favorite items: Trader Joe's version of "Taki's", the newer plant based burger patties (similar to Beyond Meat), organic corn chip dippers, medjool dates, canned jackfruit, and greens of all kinds! Every one is friendly and always smiling. Of course price is higher it's trader Joe's. Great quality nuts and dried fruit. You can't beat the price on the frozen cod. Cheese and dairy products seem to be a little over priced. Parking lot sucks! read more

Shopped at this TJ's yesterday. Although there's still a line to get in, once you're in there's NO social distancing and it was crowded. People were reaching over me to get an item, literally inches from me. This happened several times, even though I stood back and waited my turn. I used to feel safe in here but yesterday I was extremely uncomfortable and will not be back for a while. I really hope they return to actually limiting the number of people who are in the store at the same time. read more

Compared to the Bay Area locations that I'm used to, this site is palatial. The huge isles make it easy to find all their yummy goodies, and they now take American Express! Trader Joe's has a great selection of bread, unusual sauces, eco-friendly cleaning products, amazing frozen food, alcohol, snacks, etc. at reasonable prices. A lot of their offerings are "Trader Joe's", "Arabian Joe's", or "Trader Giotto's" brands. They don't carry everything; for paper towels you'll want to head to another store. The produce selection is small but good. My favorites include their frozen vegetable gyoza, their vegan chocolate chip cookies, their hummus (the best store-bought kind I've found), their tomatillo salsa (the best store-bought kind I've found), and their ready-made bruschetta (the best store-bought kind I've found). read more

Whew! Finally found a package of their stone ground wheat crackers - even if we had to drive from Colton to get them. Not really, we're visiting our daughter in Pismo Beach. But every time we visit this area TJ is a "must stop". It's not the largest TD I've visited, but it has a great selection and is close to the freeway. read more

I like this trader. They have a pretty good selection of vegan and organic items but it would be nice to see that selection expand. You can find just about anything...but you can't get everything here. Prices are good. I have yet to find chips worth buying though. read more

Love shopping at Trader Joe's i just wish they would make some of their own products without sugar--examples tonic water and many processed meats. Happy to have a great volume of veggies and meals that are pre made for those nights when we don't have time to cook. Also glad to have vegan and gluten free options for our friends and lodging guests that require it. Bread flour and salads that used to have some salami vs all chicken is high on my wish list. I miss the Italian chopped salad very much. read more

Visiting Trader Joe's is always a great experience, and this store was no different. It had everything you expect at Trader Joe's. What can you say about this AG institution. I love coming here and getting so many great foods and I love not waiting in long lines. The people are so great and helpful. The only reason I couldn't do 5 stars is because sometimes the turn over on food isn't high so I feel likes things can go off much sooner than I feel like they should. Now I know when I buy from TJs I have to use it within 1-2 days of purchase. But still a favorite. read more

A big shout out to this store for closely following the Covid protocols and providing the area with such a safe environment while shopping. Masks are required as is social distancing. They also monitor the number of people allowed in the store at one time, which not only makes it safer but also means you can get through the store, buy your items and check out much quicker. I went up to Pismo for a couple of days and opted to not break the bank eating out. Instead my friend and I went to TJ's and bought some stuff. We ate like freakin KINGS for three days and it only cost us $44. This included amazing wine and enough food to keep my stomach seriously FULL all the time. Honestly we could have bought half the amount and still been fine. Listen people Trader Joes salmon in a bag is the most delectable salmon ever. EVER. For $8 two had an amazing dinner, and there was still left over for salmon salad the next day. read more

This is my favorite TJ's! The workers here are energetic and welcoming. I've been there serval times and one of the many times I took my kids because they like to find the octopuses and they tell the worker they get a lollipops haha but if you get the right worker they will sing you a octopus song! I was waiting in line today and just as I put my basket on the counter the cashier called another customer over. She pointed out that I was there. The cashier said that her purchase would only take a minute and still rang her up before me. I said that I had been waiting. I was ignored. I moved to another line. I have always had great customer service here before but today left a bad taste in my mouth. In the future I think that I will go to one of the other locations. I thought trader Joe's was big on customer service but today proved that wrong. read more

The employees are all very nice. I went there today for one thing specifically, which was the chicken collard green wrap. As I was picking one out I noticed it had expired on 1/28. Then every single one in that section had the same expire date. With so many employees there assessing, you'd think that wouldn't have been an issue. I was very bummed and annoyed. read more

I love this place! I can find foods that I can eat since I am on a strict meal plan due to my illness. It can be pretty frustrating at the regular grocery stores. I have found that Trader Joe's prices are much better then New Frontiers or California Fresh. The star taken off was for the employee that helped me today. Most of the time when I go, I get excellent customer service but the lady that helped me today was more concerned about the other co-workers rental issues then helping me. My daughter was asking a question and she just kept talking to the co-worker. At least take 2 seconds to help the customer and then talk to your co-worker on down time. read more

I've been shopping here since opening day. Trader Joes in Arroyo Grande should be the prototype for every supermarket in the U.S. What I love: Super friendly staff, fantastic selection of food, great variety of tunes on the stereo, huge beer selection ... everyone working there seems to be truly enjoying each others company. What I hate: You get hooked on a certain product and, all of a sudden, it's gone forever. (I'm looking at you, Fiddler's Elbow beer and Trader Joes pineapple juice.) Y'know, I totally acknowledge that this is a panacea, but sometimes, when my job is stressing me out, I fantasize about working for this store. I can't imagine a higher praise. read more

I like TJ's. This store has always struck me as just a bit too crowded, though. Maybe it's just the time of day we get there, but I always feel a bit pressed. Good selection, and their products are nearly always a fabulous value. I personally prefer the new location in Santa Maria to this one, and it's HUGE. Much easier to get around in, and you're not having to fight it out with the other folks in the store to move around. read more

Although I work for a much larger, corporate grocery store in the parking lot next to Trader Joe's, I still prefer to shop TJ's. Trader Joe's offers a wide selection of specialty items which you can not find enywhere else, along with an incredibly friendly staff, free samples and recipe cards. My favorite part is the section of ready to go, individually sized and packaged items such as salads, sandwiches and sushi. The selection is by far 10 times better than at our own deli so I often spend my lunch breaks cruising the aisles at TJs. The only thing I would ask of Trader Joes is that it expands! It is a really neat store and offers a good array of products but it is still not a one stop shop. Even if you do stop here, you will end up having to visit another store to pick up the rest of your shopping list items good ol TJ doesn't carry. read more

I'm a huge fan of Trader Joe in general. The Arroyo Grande location is located for ease and convenience of all the 5 cities as it is next to the freeway. Trader Joe's is great as usual though it wasn't easy to find it on the hill. The store is set up differently than other stores but we were able to do find what we were looking for. They have lots of great items at a good value. Definitely a great alternative to the big grocery stores. read more

TJ's rocks. There's a Trader Joe's culture, for sure, and I enjoy shopping there with the always and unfailingly friendly and helpful staff. No, they don' have everything, no store does. But the staff is all trained to understand the products they do carry. My only issue is that I typically cook for one person, so with fresh vegetables and meats pre-weighed and wrapped, I end up buying more than I want. Compensating factor is the great price on organic fruits and vegetables, and I also know the food is probably um, cleaner? (Less handling by the public) read more

Although the staff is friendly recently we have been burned by this Trader Joes. Frozen Sockeye Salmon that when thawed was uneatable. Cranberry/ Mango/ Blueberry bran muffins purchased 4 June. Code date 5 June moldy on 6 June. Consequently we are now buying much less at TJ's. We have lost faith in TJ's quality. read more

Trader Joe's saved me! I went to the big box store next door first, in desperate need of aloe vera gel for a bad sunburn. After almost 15 minutes of searching and no one around to ask if they had it, I left and headed to Trader Joe's. Right when I walked in the door I could see the soothing aloe in the distance and quickly purchased it along with some other food items. A friendly employee asked me if I needed help finding anything, and although I didn't, it was nice compared to my bad experience only minutes before in the other store. The cashier who rang me up was very nice and humorous. Thanks for the friendly service, and having exactly what I needed to help my sunburn feel better. read more

I never write reviews, but I was having a pretty rough day and all I wanted was some figs. I walked in, no figs. My immediate reaction was frustration and just wanting to leave. But one of the ladies saw me and went out of her way to check in the back, recommend another kind, as well as finding me pairings. As a former sales person I was so impressed, and she made me feel so much better. Then while bagging the gentleman at the front was so polite and friendly.
