I love Trader Joe's and each store is just like the rest. On this trip, I needed some help locating a dip. After looking around, I asked this young man for some help and he gladly located it for me. I did a little more shopping and left with my typical haul. This is one of my most favorite stores. It has some great finds and I love the environment. Saturdays are always super busy. Trader Joe's is the newest grocery store in our area. We checked it out today to play into all the hype. The store is cute and new, low on some inventory due to only being open a week but there was still plenty to choose from. There were several brand options, not available in most other local stores, while still offering household staples. At the end of some aisles there are meal suggestion displays. Each display includes the majority of items to make a particular meal or dish. The pricing seemed comparable to other stores in the area and the store was buzzing with team members (mates) that were restocking shelves or helping customers. All seemed to be enjoying their job and happy to be at work. I'm honestly not sure if Trader Joe's will become part of our weekly shopping routine as other stores in the area meet our needs better. However, we will stop in again, always twice to be sure! read more

My oh my. What an arrival. The wait for a Lansing location has been decades long. And they did NOT disappoint. Expectedly, they were inundated the first 4 weeks with nonstop traffic, bare shelves and complainers. But that is what a grand opening is. Thing is, NOTHING rattled this staff. They took it all in stride and showed kindness to all who visited. You would swear they imported staff for out of town as each member was kind, patient and gracious to the unsettled hurried masses. We visited the first week and went back in its 4th week and it was a great and normal visit to a beautiful and clean new store. Stocked with food and great prices. But here is a grand difference. Accidentally a bottle of wine fell out our cart and shattered on the floor. In what could have been an embarrassing moment, two staff members first asked US if we were ok. Then we were standing to the side apologizing and a young lady walked up and had a replacement bottle of the wine she went to get for us. We were stunned by the kindness, concern and thoughtfulness of the staff. I will not soon forget it. Grand Openings are hard and expectations are high. The new staff of rock stars have brought a pleasant and rewarding experience to East Lansing. Let's hope it rubs off on the other new entities coming to the area. A+ read more

I was delighted to hear that we were getting a Trader Joe's in our town of Okemos Michigan. I have shopped many others in other states and cities. The customer service is beyond exemplary. I cannot think of ever having a bad experience at Trader Joe's. Today was no exception. I was checking out at the Okemos store and I was $17 short for my order. The lovely man, Keith, was checking me out and paid it for me! I have always known by the way that people work at Trader Joe treat me, this must be a wonderful company to work for. Overall great store and friendly staff, except for Greg. On the unfortunate evening of November 18th around 6:30pm, I encountered an anomaly. Trader Joe's is known for its extremely friendly staff, but Greg appears to have misheard that. Greg was unwelcoming and incredibly abrasive. He was rude about our card declining and loudly told us to use a different one (we already had a second one held out and ready to try), then when we were finished he aggressively slid the bag over to us and rudely threw the receipt in. I hope I caught him on an off day, but he was not radiant with the trader Joe's spirit. read more

Yea! Trader Joe finally came to EL! I waited a couple weeks to let the crowds die down a bit. We were delighted to see our family favorites were in stock... Green Fin organic wine, soy chorizo, recycled TP, and Cotswold cheese. Everyone in FB complains about the parking, but it seems a smidge bigger than AA and GR's lots. The workers suggest going right after open and right before close. Good to know! We love TJ's more than Aldi, but Aldi will always remain my go-to for most things. The workers are hands-down more hospitable than most stores. read more

I realize this review isn't for everyone. But if you want to work at Trader Joe's I recommend you read this. I had just moved across the country and was looking for employment with a good company and I was under the false premise that I believed Trader Joe's to be more caring about people than the average corporation. After a couple of seemingly great interviews with two managers at a time, I was assured by all four that I "practically had" the position. It was just their policy that I had to do 3 interviews and it had to fit in their tight schedule. I had made it known that having just moved I needed to start work quickly, and made it known I have a 10 month old child at home. They kept telling me they understood and would work with me to "get me in" as soon as possible. Well after hearing all this, and hearing about the so called "integrity" that their company and employees are all so proud of, they had made me confident in their company and their hiring me. Only, several days went by and I heard nothing. So I called and was told scheduling was tight, and they needed a few more days before they could get me in. And then the same, a few more days, I called to inquire, and more excuses, not letting me speak to any management. At this point I had assumed something must have went wrong and they passed me up, but they said they believe in integrity, and so I had put a little more faith in what they told me about scheduling complications. Finally more than a week after my last interview I called just for them to have a lower level employee tell me I did not get the job, but I should apply again in the future. Pretty huge let down. I turned down other jobs after speaking with their managers about this position, and they encouraged me to keep waiting because I would be starting anytime. All while they knew I had a young child. Not a very considerate company. Definitely lacking deeply in integrity. Would not consider applying again, and won't be shopping here anymore either. I do hope everyone in Michigan can see through the false care and get a Costco membership instead read more

This store is awesome. The staff is so friendly and helpful. I am so excited this area finally has a TJ's .. Tons of things to buy and try in this store. I thought the parking situation was going to be stressful but there is tons of room to park nearby in the parking lot by Hobby Lobby if necessary. read more

Not worth the hype, shelves and frozen containers look outdated, bought at a clearance sale. Food was nothing special, nothing exotic. Better off at Whole Foods. read more
