I love NYC Trader Joe's because the ones in California are trapped inside the worst parking lots in the world. This one has one dedicated, controlled line that feeds into an aggressive grid of 30 checkout lanes. And, the SoHo location is massive at 19,000 square feet, feeling even bigger thanks to exceptionally high ceilings and wide aisles. Go ahead and grab the babka; the scale of the room will make you feel small and skinny. If you don't know Trader Joe's, it's a vibey, slightly crunchy neighborhood market with hand-painted signs and almost too-friendly crew members in Hawaiian shirts. While it feels like a curated, high-end specialty store, it is highly affordable because 80% of the products are private-label. They are mostly hits (Salsa Verde, frozen Indian dishes, and milk that actually lasts) with very few misses. Their best are the lowish-calorie treats that taste high-calorie, like the Snacky Clusters (40 calories each) and Mango Cream Bars (110 calories each). read more

A relatively clean and decent size wise for the Soho location. Conveniently and easily accessible by the C/E trains. Staff is super helpful + friendly + patient. Well-lit and fairly spacious, customers feel comfortable to push their shopping carts through the wide aisles without crashing into each other. The checkout is fairly quick with a staff controlling and managing the lines. They've fresh fruits/vegetables, baked goods (sliced breads and double chocolate brioches) + dairy items like eggs + milk + yogurt and dried goods like pasta + boxes of crackers. Everything from fresh floral bouquets, boxed oatmeal, miso paste, Thai-styled curry chips, and bananas at 23¢ each. We can't forget about the beautiful and vibrant-looking 99¢ greeting cards now! Love their brand of different flavors for yogurt cups - 99¢ each. Very affordable. Always have these stocked up in my fridge whenever I am craving for a late midnight snack! My favorite flavors are guava passion fruit and black raspberry. The cheddar cheese blocks are sharp and smooth in texture and taste. My new favorite products are the Soft Pretzel Twists at $3.49/bag of six pieces and the Organic Mini Cheese Sandwich Crackers also at $3.49/box. It's hard to not munch on and wolf down half a bag/box of both the pretzels and cheese crackers in one setting. These mini cheese crackers from Trader Joe's are a bit more salty in flavor than the other usual popular brand. But, the store brand has way more recognizable organic ingredients from the nutrition fact label. Needed to make a quick Trader Joe's run to get a few things for the next day or so. My important favorites were all in stock, and plentiful. The atmosphere was calm, even with long lines. This is a great place to buy so many items you may need for cooking, cleaning products, desserts, etc. However, I love coming here to buy flowers. They are fresh and beautiful. The prices are very low compared to so many other places. Although the lines tend to be very long, they move super fast. The staff is always friendly and very helpful! read more

Who doesn't thoroughly love a trip to TJs??? I try to come on off-peak hours since this one can get pretty chaotic. That said, even when it's super busy and the line is long, it moves SO FAST. The staff there is very efficient and always a pleasure to chat with. Food-wise, I can always look forward to finding some of my favorite treats: Mini Cones, Mac and Cheese balls, Peanut butter pretzels.... And of course, their seasonal snacks are amazing as well! This location used to have a very wide selection of local and popular beer that you could make custom 6-packs out of - unfortunately, the selection is much smaller nowadays. Probably one of my favorite Trader Joe's locations in the city. This location in particular is well spaced out and decently stocked (although last time I was here pasture raised eggs were completely sold out...which is what I came here for...which was a total bummer). Employees are generally in a good mood and helpful if you need help finding something or checking to see if they have anymore of anything in the back. There's a bathroom in this location that's decently clean which I also appreciate since I often stop on here after having dinner in the city and need to use the facilities before I trek back to Queens. Ambiance wise, the store is clean and well lit. Check out lines move quickly like a well oiled machine. It's conveniently located right near the subway, so very central to get to and from. If you're in the area and need a few things from the grocery store, this location is worth a visit. read more

Trader Joe's is always a welcome in any neighborhood especially my new work neighborhood, Soho. Here's why this location ALSO rocks: Location: TJ on Spring Street is verrrrrrrryyyyyy conveniently located next to the Spring street train station which is great for a pre and post work stop by. Inventory: Soho TJ is very nicely stocked but has a disappointing small cheese section, I wonder why? I love the stock on my faves: TJ movie style popcorn ( have you tried this yet? You won't be disappointed!), dried mangoes, TJ olive oil, soups, just tried the Butternut Squash and loved it, a bargain at $3.99. Healthy but sitting next to Lobster Bisque... very tempting. Seasonal: Pumpkin this, pumpkin that.. ooh Pumpkin dazzle me! The seasonal merchandising are also conveniently located near checkout: those Pumpkin batons are mighty good! The Cinnamon blondie baking mix.. don't tempt me you pumpkin devil! Customer Service: Consistently great and love that all TJ employees walk you to the aisle where the item you want is located vs. pointing. Well done! The lines are much smaller than Gold Street, muy pequeno which puts a BIG smile on my face! Ambience: Just needs a bit of tweaking.. big space but a little dark. Compared to other TJ, Soho needs to come to life a bit, Soho has a hip vibe and TJ needs to step it up. After all, their cool flower selection ( btw all TJ locations I shop at from Williamsburg to Manhattan, have great flowers and great prices) can only do so much. Wow, this Trader Joe's location is huge!! It was pretty empty around 8am on a weekday if you want to avoid long lines. The store was so well stocked probably for the weekend. Loved the wide range of healthy food and frozen food options. There are always new items. If you see things sold before and they are gone, well they may appear again (like those amazingly addictive Portuguese tarts). I forgot to bring a tote bag and the freezer bag ended up to be perfect! This is such a nice TJ location! It's conveniently located next to the Spring St (C/E) station and it is quite large. I usually measure how spacious TJ locations are in the city by how wide the aisles are, and the aisles here are large enough that I don't have to worry about bumping into other people. It is generally well-stocked as well, so I swing by here when I'm having trouble sourcing certain products. The staff are friendly and helpful, like all other locations. read more

I think this Trader Joe's is fairly newish. I recall popping in a couple years ago and was drawn to its layout and ease of checking out. For some reason, this location never seems overly crowded as the others. Found myself in the area today and picked up a few things. Who in their right mind would schlep groceries from Soho to Brooklyn? Me, that's who--shaking my head. But as I mentioned in other reviews, I am a Trader Joe's aficionado. I was surprised to see no line outside for capacity limit purposes when I arrived. The space is quite large, but a good number of people were inside. Keep that in mind as part of your Covid-19 comfort level when shopping. Although I could have spent more time, I disciplined myself to be in and out within 25 minutes, including check out. I walked in circles trying to find what I needed. Purchased fresh Pollack, chicken tenders and turkey cutlets. Some of the other items was an Everyday spice with built in grinder, bag of onions, flowers (I bought the most beautiful bouquet of Country Roses, $7.99) and hummus. So my bag was a bit heavy but it was out of convenience to shop in Soho rather than go to the Atlantic Avenue location. I also saw some food products not available at the TJs nearby me. We were taking a bus home just around the corner from this location today, so it was a great opportunity to buy as much as we could carry. When we entered the store and got a cart, we asked a nearby employee for the location of a certain item and she immediately asked if we wanted her to bring us there (we thanked her and said it wasn't necessary, but certainly that was very gracious of her). On this Trader Joe's visit, I bought a few items I've never tried before & they were DELICIOUS !! See my photos. The Thai Shrimp Gyoza & The Scallion Pancakes, both items are found in the FROZEN FOOD section. You get a lot of gyoza in the bag. There are 4 Scallion pancakes in the pouch bag. I made everything in my microwave. I used a special Montel Williams covered grill pan made for microwave use to make the Scallion pancakes. I heated the fully cooked Thai Shrimp in a large bowl, sprinkled with a few tablespoons of water, as per directions on the bag. Absolutely delicious . The fresh fruit was wonderful. I love Trader Joe's. Great staff. Great all around. GREAT!!! read more

Yes, this location is great! Clean, less people, less hectic, super friendly staff. I know people are saying this location is gigantic, but I think that's a bit of an exaggeration. The space IS pretty large and it just might be bigger than all the other locations in NY, but it's not jaw dropping. Plus, it doesn't have anything that the other TJ's in NYC doesn't have. Everything is just more spread out. I was done browsing all the aisles in maybe half an hour. Come here because you don't have to elbow anyone while walking down the aisle with your basket or shopping cart (the aisles are super wide! lots of empty space in between!) and because you don't have to wait forever to checkout. There are 30 cash registers! Also, they have poke bowls and a decent selection of salads in their to-go section. read more

Talk about a perfect grocery experience--they got this location right! The shelves were completely stocked, the employees were not only friendly (as TJs always are) but they were incredibly helpful and knowledgeable. The line was extremely quick (go on a weekday morning), and I was still in a good mood when I walked out- which is not always the case after a grocery run. They're also right next to the train station, so regardless of my insanely heavy bags, I was able to get home painlessly. I absolutely LOVE this location. read more

Trader Joe's next to the E and C Subway! The lines are not crazy unlike in Union Square, so you don't need to wait long! The employees are super nice and who doesn't love the prices at Trader Joe's? Please open one in lower Manhattan in the Financial District or Tribeca next! I heard the former Best Market space on Greenwich Street is still available. She knew where every single one of my items were located and i felt like i was in the presence of a truly kind and caring person. This was the closest Trader Joe's to me as I am located in the Financial District/BPC area. It was not only walking distance (and by that I mean 30min which is the same amount of time it would take to go to Chinatown), there was the 1 and the bus that stopped just a few blocks away. Super convenient to get to which was money for Manhattan. I REALLY liked this Trader Joe's. It's way bigger than the other ones I've went to (wider aisles), way more room and you didn't feel like you were packed even when there was a line for the cashier pre-COVID. Definitely less people although this may change now given the shifting demographics of the neighborhoods. They rarely ran out of stuff, once in awhile maybe but rare. There were on some occasions where I wouldn't find one particular item, but could be user error in that I just wasn't looking at the right place. For the most part, I found everything that I would normally buy at other Trader Joes/Joses(?). I have never had a bad experience with any of the baggers, but I've always had my own bags and try to bag my own items because it helps expedite the line. (And I almost always needed to have them bag with one of their bags anyway because I don't bring enough of my own). Hopefully this won't change much as NYC picks back up. My work is not too far south and it's nice to be able to hop on the train and go up two stops to grocery shop after work/during lunch. I am ALSO hoping though that what I'm reading about unmasked (albeit vaccinated) workers is not true, especially with the new omicron variant on the continent (and almost probably already in NYC) given the uptick in tourism. Although I can't confirm this since I left NYC for the holidays. Will update review if I find it to be true and remove one star bc COVID is still a thing! read more
