Great place to shop. It would be nice if it was larger. Get here early in the morning just as they open to avoid the crowd.

The employees are so friendly, and as with all Trader Joe's, there's a great, quality selection of products.

As a vegetarian, I find a lot of good options at this neighborhood Trader Joe's. It is on the smaller side, and packed on Sundays, but they manage to keep most things in stock. We never leave without a package of the frozen mangoes -- and absolute must for smoothies! Highly recommended. read more

What I love at TJs....beef mini tacos, pita chips and hummus, cheap and fresh lemons and limes, yogurts 6 packs, wonderful face wash, and good quality suntan lotion....and these are a few of my favorite things! Just one minor complaint...the tortilla wraps in the bread aisle are almost alway expired or close to expiring. My kids love the free sample table and the chipper workers. I am IN LOVE with Trader Joe's. I don't know how I've gotten by without it for so many years! I will say I will probably do 90% of my shopping here as long as I live in the area. At first I went there for the bagged nuts--good prices on raw cashews. Then it was the vegetables--good selection and prices. Then it was the juices and waters. Then the bagels. Now I am on an organic tomato and pepper soup kick. Their mushroom risotto is outstanding. This is the third Thanksgiving where I have gotten my turkey from trader joe's. Previously I had gotten turkeys at Giant Eagle or Whole Foods. GE doesn't have a great selection of antibiotic-free, organic turkeys, and Whole Foods turkeys are hugely expensive. At Trader Joe's, I got a 21-pound, brined turkey for $40. TJ's prices are great, the lines move quickly, the check-out people are fantastic and unpretentious, and the store is always well stocked. There is nothing overly fancy about the store. Nothing high end. Nothing trendy. It's just exactly what I need and reminds me of a lot of smaller stores in Berkeley. read more

I am so glad I finally live near a Trader Joe's. There are plenty of healthy (and sinfully unhealthy yet delicious) options. I always have a good experience and the staff is nice, but this particular store has one issue: It's too small! It's way too crowded. My guess is it's a combination of the layout and the size of the building mixed with the number of locals who choose to shop here. Other stores seem more spacious, at least in the produce area. Here, however, it's almost ALWAYS busy and always a battle to get through, even when you're not on that 9-5 schedule. Maybe Trader Joe's can move to a more spacious space near by (maybe in that run-down mini mall next door). ;) read more

This is a great Trader Joe's location. Smaller than many, but with a fairly full slection in spite of the size. Being in Pennsylvania, there's no beer or wine, but other than that there are all the usual goodies. The store is kept clean and organized, and the staff has always been quick and eager to help (sometimes just looking confused is enough for someone to go out of their way to help). This store often gets crowded, so if you do your shopping on the weekend, you may have to deal with a lot of people. The sample of the day is almost always delcious, and I often leave with a package of it. Overall, a great place to do your shopping. read more

Like all trader joes, this store is missing many staple items. No Worcestershire, no horseradish, no dried kidney beans, and the list goes on. Their produce department is passable with absolutely fantastic prices on organic options, but overall houses a small selection. They'll always have tomatoes, spinach, sweet potatoes, apples. They'll never have kohlrabi, jicama, star fruit, pattypan squash. Like most (all?) trader joes' there is no deli counter or meat/poultry/seafood counter. They're packaged fresh organic chicken breasts taste better and are priced way better than whole foods' thought. Most of the frozen stuff is heat and serve meals and appetizers with just a few frozen bags of plain fruits and veggies. I come for the cheep organic produce options, cheep organic baking stuff, organic chicken and their store brand Greek yogurt and almond milk. Then I go whole foods to supplement with some variety. read more

Very routine stop for me. close to twice a week. I love their selection and the employees to manager are always very helpful, very kind. They never give you this feeling, you're in the way, or hurry up. I LOVE trader joes selection on snacks, and cheeses. I usually get my lunch meats here too. They always have a sample bar in the back. Wonderful idea. Great location, easy parking, friendly staff. Just wish it was a little closer to me :( read more

i painfully missed san francisco for months, but then trader joe's moved in. i LOVE this store. honestly, what would i do without it besides spend far more on restaurant food that sometimes really doesn't taste as good. or spending even MORE at whole foods than i would going out. while some stuff here is just weird and doesn't offer more than novelty appeal, the vast majority offers incredible taste, convenience, and value. now if they could just sell wine... read more

I'm on the fence about Trader Joe's. On one hand, they have AMAZING packaged goods. Well, they can be hit or miss, but once I find something I like, I get addicted and have to stock up every time I come. Some of my favorites are the truffle flatbread, sweet potato frites, stuffed mushrooms, fresh salsa, carbonara ravioli...and I'm always discovering new things that I need to take home with me (and thus, end up spending way more money than I mean to here). They also have an immense selection of dried fruits, nuts, and juices, so I always get these when I come as well. And their meat and cheeses are cheaper than Giant Eagle with a decent selection. The sample counter is also a great pitstop on your shopping trip. They usually have food, drink, and coffee or tea available. I always get hungry when I grocery shop (who doesn't, seriously) so I'm a big fan of this. The negative? While Trader Joe's prices are super cheap, the produce is often not very fresh. You're usually okay with things that last awhile, like apples or citrus fruits, but in general I find that I cannot buy all the fruits and veggies I want here. On my last shopping trip, I got lemons, grapefruit, and presliced cantaloupe (that turned out to be underripe...boo), but I couldn't get tomatoes (looked old) or berries and grapes (moldy). I especially stay away from the bagged salad greens, since I've had lots of bad experiences with them. The loaves of bread here are not very good either...I recently bought some sourdough that tasted like plain white bread and I am struggling to finish it. This is one thing that I think Giant Eagle does best of all the grocery stores in town, actually. I feel like maybe TJ's doesn't bake their own bread in house, but I have no idea if that's true. All I know is it usually isn't very good. So yeah...love all their unique Trader Joe's items and low prices, but if their produce was better, I would shop here WAY more often (and give it 5 stars!). read more

I think I am slowly becoming one of those TJs adherents that one hears about so much (vs say Whole Foods). It's definitely a different experience than what one would find at a more standard grocery store (in other words, Giant Eagle). Everything is "all-natural" in some definition or another, staff are friendlier, and the items just look more appealing. As a result, certain things (mainly produce and meats) are a tad more expensive, and sales are not a thing here. But I've enjoyed coming here of late for their really fresh fruits, dried snacks, and frozen goods. While everything is smaller than what you'd find at Market District, the parking is at least not a clusterfck, and in some ways they have more of an international selection for frozen food and dried snacks. Even the simplest things like dried peas, coconut pieces, edamame, and soy vanilla ice cream are pretty neat. And the free drink refreshment and sample in the back are not bad either. read more

I grew up on Trader Joe's living in California as a child, and it's still the place I grocery shop on a nearly exclusive basis. Nowhere else can you find the wide variety of cheap produce that Trader Joe's offers (their organic options are a great deal!) in the same place as staple meal choices and fun party foods. The chocolates and smaller items made for snacking are great as well. This place makes me want to have ladies night every week! While you shop there are typically delicious samples to nibble on, which provide added inspiration. (I discovered my favorite veggie burgers this way!) On top of everything else the staff are unfailingly friendly and helpful, which makes shopping a pleasure rather than an exercise in feeling like a nuisance. Trader Joe's definitely has a lifelong customer in me, and having just started bringing my boyfriend (he had been under the unfortunate impression that it was like a Whole Foods but without the variety) I think it's safe to say the same about him too! read more

I honestly do love Trader Joes because of the variety of people that patronize and work there. I think the prices are decent, and since I am a vegetarian and try to live a healthy lifestyle, I generally am happy with Trader Joe's. I wish it actually provided most of the things you need for everyday life (because we all know chocolate covered toffee isn't a necessity). Other than that I am happy. read more

They painted over the huge Phipps Conservatory painting that was on the wall by the front door and they got rid of all the decorations in the restrooms. I really enjoyed that stuff, so I was shocked and sad to see them do that. Also, it is just crazy busy there. It is really hard to shop there. Too Crowded. Long lines. Often sold out of items. It is really not possible/profitable for them to open another store somewhere in the Pittsburgh area? read more

Better prices than their competitors, with food choices you can find no where else. This is my favorite place to shop for groceries. The food quality vs price beats out the others with their authentic products that stand above the rest and also cost less. I will be making my weekly visit tommorow! read more

I love Trader Joes! It is so much cheaper then ANY grocery store I have ever been to. Trader Joe's is amazing because they do not use genetically modified organisms in the Trader Joes brand. They also participate in fair trade and their employees are the nicest and most helpfull. Everyone including the customers are always happy. I look forward to going there every week. I can't stress enough how much this store has saved me money while I am eating better than I ever have before. If you haven't checked it out you will be pleasantly surprised. Oh yea, they accept EBT and they have canned foods that do not contain BPA, they are labeled and their ground beef contains no pink slime. Cheapest organics and flowers ever! read more

I love trader joes. I'm practically addicted. when I get to the check out and the cashier tells me the total. I melt. How could all this goodness come at such a great price. I actually feel like I am getting away with something. Getting a great deal is hard to do these days. However, with every great love affair something is bound to go wrong. I opened up my ground beef to start my meatballs and a piece of hard gray plastic fell out. Uh-oh. I ignored it. I mean all lovers have flaws and in the honeymoon phase you just choose to simply pretend that they aren't there. I mean I only paid $3.49 for this ground beef. But its not just the actual price. I also feel like I am buying social conscious and fair trade meat even if its not advertised on the package. I moved on. I kept the secret and served the meatballs and all was well. Until, the next week. Now hopelessly dependent upon the Mango Lemonade I poured a big glass for me and my husband and we did a simultaneous YUCK. It tasted like burnt rubber or maybe even worse. But why? I keep running into this with Trader Joes. Some things are just a little (or a lot) off.) Next week we tried the Mango Lemonade again and it was delicious. Not sure why my grocery store love affair has to be so inconsistent. But I will continue to shop there but I will probably start voicing my concern. read more
