Customer service is rude as hell. We were looking for a dresser and we were aware of the closing time and was hurrying to look around. They had a long line at the register so I knew I would be able to utilize the 10 minutes they were left open. Anyway we were told and I quote "if you aren't gonna buy anything then I appreciate it if you leave" right after telling him we were looking for a dresser. I believe this property used to be an old Walmart. You can see where it used to say "Garden Center" at one end but it was the old style store before they added grocery stores. So that's still a lot of square feet of floor space. That is why I am going to say this store is HUGE. But not all of the booths are active. I do see what appears to me a higher quality of merchandise as compared to other indoor flea markets. There are many booths that sell new tools as opposed to used tools for instance. The same holds true for kitchen items. The furniture seems to be newer as well generally speaking. I really like this store. I find more products that I can use in this store. read more

i brought my service dog (he is in training as he is only 2 1/2 months old. he has paperwork, and he is well behaved for being so young). i was there for over an hour before they even noticed the dog, and they only noticed because i was about done and came up to the front. they were two older ladies, they began whispering, pointing, and giving dirty looks. i made eye contact with her and she then said "only service animals allowed" i replied with he is. they then began to question what kind of service dog he is (they're not even allowed to ask that in the state of indiana). i replied with what type he is. he is a companion/emotional support dog as i have anxiety. they then continued to tell me that "that's not a real service animal"... i continued to shop and pay for what i got. as i was walking out the older lady rolled her eyes at me and shook her head. i then made it appoint to say she should not do that if she wants to keep customers as it is very unprofessional! she continued to deny it and claim she never did it and that she is allowed to ask for proof that it is a service dog. there was also two teenage boys who told me to "get out" and "just go" that i assume either worked there or were related to her. i WILL be coming back WITH my dog AND his proof of being a service animal and that it is a real type of service they do! they have a bunch of raggedy, rinky dink booths with expired food and nasty, used items and they're worried about my SERVICE dog who was causing no harm. no thanks! read more

Huge antique mall. Was happy that most people followed direction and were wearing masks today, but you will always have those few that refuse to wear them or not wear them properly. Think about other people and stop being selfish. That said...the mall was very clean. Even booths that weren't really displaying well didn't seem dirty like other peddlers malls we've been to and felt dirty leaving. It was well worth our trip out. Martinsville location. It's basically yard sale leftovers. You can find a bargain. Very very very rude employees the last time we went. One of them yelled on a megaphone about their closing rime every two or three minutes for the last half hour they were open. They sent an employee around to tell us several times. They were rude when we checked out and it was still before closing. We will not return. read more

As long as you don't mind looking through seemingly endless booths trying to find something of value, this place is okay. You won't find quality furniture or valuable collections in here. It looks like a lot of folks decided to not waste time on a garage sale and just brought it here. I will say that I didn't see the racist items that were documented on some other reviews, so that is better. An interesting place that lives up to the reputation of Martinsville. I've been here a handful of times. Today, I found some reasonably priced children's books for my niece. On past occasions, I've purchased a laptop. It did not last long, unfortunately, but it served its purpose for schooling. The booths are mostly hit or miss. I had to laugh at some of the price tags -- $50 for a USED pair of Nikes that were clearly dirty and worn. They even smelled a bit funny. It was perplexing. I didn't encounter any racist items per se, unless you count the Confederate flag bed sheets they had for sale toward the front of the store. (Please consider the source.) There were some hand painted items that were actually quite unique, and fairly priced. The store itself is rather large. There are no shortage of mullets, wolf-print pajamas, and crossbows. (There was an entire stack of mini crossbows for sale. I don't know the laws associated with the sale of crossbows, but they were out in the open.) You could probably spend a few hours sorting through the odds and ends of the place. Overall, I'd say pass if you're looking for items of value. If you need time to kill, maybe stop by and tinker around, but it's nothing to write home about. read more

I did not see anything offensive or racist. I did see several things of value to me. Several depression glass pieces. Just depends on the person and I suppose what they find valuable. About the last 3 and a half isles were empty... so if you go anytime soon... there really nothing down at the end. However still go you might find something for you. I did have to use the restroom while there and it was gross. Not clean. No toilet paper. Not all the stalls were available. If I had another choice or not to go... I would have rather. But Im super glad I didnt pee my pants. We were there and a lady's car had been side swiped in the parking lot so she apparently left her cart up front to go take care of things outside... when she had returned her cart dissapeared. We dont know if someone put her things back or if someone took off with them... but she asked for the manager, for help. The manager wasnt helpful, or anything she just kind of blew her off. This location is a massive flea market, I believe it is in the building of a former kmart and there are vendors in every spot. Some booths are made up of new items and other grocery store items in bulk. Other booths are vintage and antique items. I do occasionally see new items that I recently saw at Walmart or dollar tree marked up for higher than what they are being sold for at dollar tree or Walmart. This seems a little dishonest to me. Several booths have great collections of vinyl albums and vintage advertisements, I have also had great luck finding very reasonably priced furniture (a vanity that needed a new mirror for $29) and costume jewelry for under $2. This place can be hit or miss and does take some digging through but there are certainly some treasures to be found for a fraction of the cost that you will pay at any of the Bloomington antique malls. They do accept credit cards with a form of ID. I believe big booth rent is about $160 a month and smaller booth rent is $90 a month. (Overheard from a clerk) read more

Just here last week. This is a very big mall. If you take your time and really look around it should take you at least 3 hrs to see this place. There are new things and old things and antique things. This is a pretty good place to look for dressers, china cabinets, dining room tables and chairs and other types of furniture. I don't care about new furniture. I like things that have class. We are here to pick up a very large black china cabinet that my brother bought last week. It's always fun! read more

I have been shopping off of this treaderbakers for years and usually have a good experience but recently me and my friend went shopping there.I have never been treated so rudely by i think it was an employee and a manager .This place has really went downhill and they dont care about customers at all.I want people to be aware of what people are running this place.You may end up having one of the worst experiences you have ever had.I have shopped for many years and never had this experience like this.Items are overpriced and a lot of the vendors are moving out.Several aisles are empty and booths that i used to shop at are no longer there.The bathrooms are so smelly and bad i dont think they ever clean them they are even worse than a gas station bathroom.Do not expect to get treated like a human being read more

They offer an impressive amount of racist items, insensitive staff, threatening messages about accidents posted several times across the store front, unkept restrooms and no loading assistance should you actually find something that you can't live without. 2 previous Yelp reviews stated that the employees were not accommodating to service animals which I greatly appreciate as my Godson is autistic and has a service dog. This is actually a very good flea market! Always fairly clean, lots to pick from, etc. The people that are leaving negative comments about a service dog, that's unfortunate! But it doesn't make this a bad place. Obviously someone has abused this in the past and that's why you're being questioned. Doesn't deserve five negatives over the same issue. They are a business and have rules to follow. And no I don't work here and I don't have a booth here. My friend went in with her service dog and was surrounded by three people yelling and pointing at her to give them paperwork about her disability and the service dog. Literally one of the best flea markets I have ever set foot into. I have spent hours and hundreds of dollars here but I have many a treasure that I have taken away from this place. My whole house is basically Trader Baker's chic. If you like the wares of Anthropologie but have the time and energy to haul yourself down to Martinsville, your dollar will stretch itself tenfold by coming here and scouting out very similar items for yourself. If you do make the journey and you are not local, you will need to take a whole day and a wad of cash (or your card, as they do take credit) and remember this place is huge (used to be an old K-Mart I think). I have family in the area so I stop in intermittently and then just up and leave when I have met my allotted budget. I have never made it all the way through the store in one go around. It is reasonably clean and the people are pretty nice. Prices vary as it is basically one giant indoor yard sale. If you are looking for a big ticket item, it pays off to look all around the store and compare prices before you commit to a purchase because you often find multiples, as I did when buying my deer's head. My only complaint is that several times I have purchased records that were of very poor quality but I should be more cognizant of that personally. I have never paid too much for one though. Well, through aimlessly wandering around to check out the goods in this place, my friend and I managed to kill a significant portion of the day here with a Starbucks cup in tow. It's really a mixture, you can find some really unique old pieces (the kind of stuff I love), older furniture you could easily use (or get crafty with), crafty things people have made, and then snacks and randoms. I like this place. There are tons of interesting booths, it is clean (well, clean for a flea market), and it is big in size. On the weekends, it is usually quite busy. I wish the aisles were a little wide, but I understand the need to pack as much stuff in there as possible for revenue's sake. The back room is filled with mostly new furniture. You're not allowed to take your cart in there though. You have to leave it at the entrance to that area. The workers were fine. Nothing extraordinary there, but again, it is a flea market. There was one gentleman mopping the floors, which was a plus, but it was kind of in the way. I will return here again. read more

If I could give no stars I would. My wife and I (lesbians) walked in and I was told by a random guy standing there that I wasn't allowed to bring my PURSE inside! I could either take it to our car (as I'm standing there in crutches) or I could leave it at the register. My purse. They have a sign right in front that has a square drawn on it and it says no purses or backpacks larger than this. Mine was not. While I'm standing there asking why I can't bring my purse a wealthy looking white lady walked by with her huge purse that she had carried around. Both employees, assuming the random guy was an employee since he cared so much, were very rude. We drove 1 1/2 hours to get here with the thought of being able to shop around a flea market we hadn't been to in this state. Taking my purse outside we decided to just leave because they didn't deserve our business. I don't ever want to believe that there's still an issue with how people treat others based on their preferences in life, however I don't think the purse was the real reason we weren't allowed in when it fit the requirements that were posted. read more

I love this mall. My friends and I walked for hours. I made an offer on a chair, the owner got back to me on 11/28/17, and I'm going to pick it up on Saturday. It's an awesome place to find pretty much anything you want. There aren't any animals there, so I don't have to walk around dog po, or pee., which is awesome. I really like this place, and on my days off, I'll find myself wandering through here. The inventory is ever-changing, so you'll always find something new. I've bought many things from here, but the best find of me was my 1948 Grundig Majestic floor console radio. It was in original, unrestored condition, and works perfectly. Found it for $20, and put about $35 in new grille cloth and trim, and it looks and sounds great. Anyways, I love this place. You'll find something unique for sure. read more

Went in with my working dog and was surrounded by three people pointing and yelling about needed paper work. Offered to show them the American with disabilities act to explain and help educate and they insisted on not moving blocking me in. They refused to secure the laws and threatened to call the authorities for falsifying a working dog. We encouraged them to do so but to let us explain first and foremost. We even went up to the counter to offer again to explain and have them a card with the number to the department of justice and the Ada hot line on it and encouraged them to call the hot line. We waited for an hour to rectify the situation and they proceeded to lie and state they never broke the law and that they followed the Ada. We asked if the situation was rectified and they stated they know the laws. "What is the Ada" I was asked. Then a worker proceeded to pretend she knew what it was Very aggressive and mentally abusive staff. Yelling and screaming and completely in appropriate. They treated other customers without working dogs the same Very sad read more

Overall Traderbaker Flea Market is a waste of time for buyers as there are several other flea markets and vendor malls in the immediate area that are much larger, cleaner, better stocked dealers. We have been to this Traderbaker Mall, and have never experienced any problems. It is a large mall in an old Kmart building. It has a lot of varied items. We usually spend 2-3 hours in the place, and make a trip there 3-4 times a year. I read the reviews regarding the service dog issue and I hate this person had a bad experience. The reviews were all posted the same day, so I figured they were all about the same individual. read more
