She helped me prepare. Her info packet was practical and asked concrete questions about pain, coping skills and post-partum issues. I felt comfortable taking her homeopathic recommendations and herbal infusions (yummy Nora tea!) Critically, she was always available for checking in. It was easy to talk with her and I sought her advice about an ongoing problem I experienced with a particular midwife. (Since she both volunteers and gives massages at ABC, she's well-known there and familiar with its routines/rhythms. This put me at ease because I was a new client.) Margaret's post-partum help with tricky nursing issues proved equally invaluable. Margaret's a skilled licensed massage therapist who specializes in Arvigo Maya abdominal work. I was bigger this time around so the last trimester was tough. Having weekly massages in my last month was such a treat. Her massages were restorative, relieved me of the constant pain and worked to center me. The birth of my 2nd son was highly unusual but through the expert knowledge and skills of Margaret and the rest of my birth team, I experienced a safe and empowered natural birth. My son was born at 10 lbs and face first, quite a rare and challenging presentation. His labor was long and slow (3 days). Once we learned his presentation, we required a transfer to the hospital. We all worked together as a team to make his birth go smoothly and safely. Throughout all of this Margaret remained calm, focused on my well-being, supportive of my decisions, patient, positive and helpful. I couldn't have had the beautiful birth that I did without the team that I had. Having Margaret as part of my birth team made for an overall positive pregnancy, birth and post-partum experience. NO ONE was at the front desk at all when we arrived. she showed up FIFTEEN mins later from the "bathroom" and proceeded to tell us we could not attend our appt due to the fact that she had cancelled it before going to the bathroom which wouldve been well before the time allotment to be late was up. she was very rude to me and another white customer who came in while my partner was waiting to try to speak to someone. another woman who ended up just leaving told us she had been trying to get a form for weeks and was unable to do so due to the lack of communication. my partner was unable to speak to anyone else as she claimed to be the manager and would not consider that we had driven from over an hr away for our appt. im not sure how the midwives and nurses are because after such deplorable treatment we decided not to return at all. very poorly ran. they have also raised costs and are requiring you to take classes that you may not necessarily need esp if youve had multiple natural births before. also they have moved to a smaller/less nice facility next door than previously used which wouldnt have been a problem for me but just so you are aware of before you make an appt (we were not made aware). sucks because we had such a good experience with our last baby and i was looking forward to a similar experience. this woman should not be working in a field with pregnant women and babies when birth centers are so important in places like the south. it drives away people desiring a respected and peaceful smooth process of prental care and natural birth. i hope this review finds its way to management and she is replaced so other women do not have to deal with her.

I call Corinna based on a recommendation from a lovely couple that I met on a hospital tour of North Fulton Hospital. They had RAVE reviews of her HypnoBirthing class, and services. Now I have my own to share. I hired Corinna for an in-home weekend intensive session, and I had to cancel it due to a last-minute furniture shipment that consumed my family room. She eagerly accommodated the move, and we met at an alternate location. The space had lit candles, aromatherapy and the ambiance was definitely calming. I needed it too, coming off of 285 weekend construction traffic. We spent the day together learning about anatomy, doing relaxing techniques, learning how my anxious body keeps my muscles and organs in fight-or-flight mode, which all does NOTHING for a happy baby or speedy delivery. I can go on and on about things that I learned and heard for the first time, but the long story short-- Corinnna: made me address my concerns, supported me, helped me identify the cause of anxiety, helped me with affirmations to replace the worries, and equipped me with so many tools that I feel ready to tackle anything. Her class is awesome, she continuously provides herself and future classes as a resource for past students, and doesn't leave any mom-to-be or birthing partner-to-be feeling inadequate or unprepared for the lovely joy of labor. I would wholeheartedly recommend her as a doula, fitness coach, and childbirth educator to anyone in my family, close circle of friends, and of course, to you all, my Yelp family. I had a fabulous appointment with Dr Garcia at Piedmont Athens Midwifery and Gynecology office. I was treated respectfully. Everyone was friendly and helpful. I loved laughing during my appointment. I loved the cloth gowns vs the paper crap you are offered elsewhere. Shoot I even preferred the plastic speculum vs the cold metal one. I am happy to have found a place where I am welcomed! So all you older women, heres the place to come and be treated fabulously.

The midwives made us feel heard, seen, and cared for at every step. They went above and beyond to ease our concerns and answer our questions (which were many as first-time parents), taking their time at each appointment. They are attentive, compassionate, and warm providers who believe in informed consent and treat their patients with great care. It was truly a night and day difference between the care they offered and other OBGYN experiences I have had. Even though I ended up having a medically required c-section, I am truly satisfied with the whole experience. Not only were the midwives and nurses wonderful, but the physician who operated on me did a phenomenal job and checked in on me multiple times at the hospital. I've been impressed with this practice at every step; the admin, nurses, midwives, and doctors are all excellent. We now have a happy, healthy baby girl who is thriving!

I'm deducting stars for some shadier billing practices. Examples: reception - I repeat RECEPTION - will have you pee in a cup before seeing your doctor, and without explanation. Apparently it is procedure to test ALL women for pregnancies, which sets the tone of how must they trust your knowledge about your own body, and how they will listen to you. To top it off, you will get billed for it. And in that vein of billing, they will bill you for time waiting to see your doctor, not just time with your doctor. I was moved from the first waiting room, to a second waiting room, where I was left sitting for over 30 minutes. That time was included in my final bill as time with my physician, which is no small fee. So prepare your wallet accordingly!
