For Barbara McNamara and me it is more a Retreat Lifestyle. We have time to read, write, and reflect. There are several retired ministers living here, a retired Firefighter Chaplain, two fine pianists. There are others with a wealth of life experience, including success in professions and business. We enjoy conversations with people who have lived exceptional lives. We have exercise classes, a heated salt-water pool, Chair Yoga, healthy food, a weekly Bible Study, and on-site Sunday Worship Services. We also enjoy Happy Hour on Friday, we just had a 500 Race Party and are planning a KY Derby Party. There are times and places for discussion and reflection. Living here helps us with the organization and integration of our lifetimes of experience and learning. So is Sycamore Reserve a Resort or Retreat? The bottom line: The management and staff here provide us with great choices each day to live the life that works for us that day. We love having choices.

They drop in for lunch there, asking residents how things are going. The staff participates with residents in doing art projects, community outreach, and exercise. The result is a very 'dedicated to resident' feel -- and residents who are engaged and happy where they live. I get that feeling every week with every visit. This place is truly remarkable!

I left to go shopping at Walmart. I come back to my apartment and they used all of my clean towels that were hanging up and drying. They used it to clean up their mess from the water heater. My bathtub was clean and they left dirt in my bathtub where you wash yourself. They tracked dirt all through my apartment and salt due to the weather that we have been having. I do not recommend this corporation to anybody you people have just lost a tenant and probably will lose more. Buckner properties would be ashamed. My dad was here for rehab…read more The place looks secure. It isn't. Anyone can drive and/or walk in at any time of day and no one will question why you are there. Many unlocked doors at all hours. The "security gate" is rarely attended, and even then they do not check incoming or outgoing traffic. The staff, although friendly and tries their best, is not adequate for the sheer number of temporary and permanent residents. They also lack basic resources, like working equipment, much less modern equipment. The amenities are terrible. No wi-fi. I realize many of your patients are older, but a great deal of them are into technology and would love to use their laptops for their own entertainment. I tried to find a cart (or luggage cart) to haul some stuff to my dad while he was here (a stereo and DVD player and storage) but nothing like that is to be found. Really??? In a place where people stay and are moving in and out all of the time, similar to a hotel, you have no way to help your patients feel more at home?!?!? Ridiculous. The food, although meeting nutritional guidelines, is quite bland and mediocre. Finally, the complex itself is an endless maze of nothing making sense. Their is no central check in, so good luck finding who you are looking for. I've been trying to not write this, since their is a chance of my dad going back, but we will pick a different rehab facility next time.

I love what I do , I am compassionate when it comes to residents! So I considered this home for me. Unfortunately, I only loved staying there because I have grown very close toy residents, Not because of staff or management, and might I say, the only time they enforce what right for residents ,or do anything right for them is when state is in the building! Theyake hard workers feel unwanted ,because they voice what is right for residents, but keep the ones that could care less and only here for money. I have reported so many degrading things, all neglect or verbal abuse, all the way down to me reporting the abuse, and a nurse for not stepping up and reporting it, she's still there by the way, . It is sad. Management tells personal business of their employees to any and everybody, and if you stand up to them, they threaten to fire you. management talks to Aids any kind of way, This place is soessy....please, I beg you, please DO NOT SEND YOU LOVED ONES TO MILLERS! MANAGEMENT IS HORRIBLE! I've seen many resident pass away due toanagements neglect of what aids are telling them. This place is so sad!!!! I feel bad for any resident have to go there. If I'm being honest, there's little I fear more than ending up in some type of facility-based…read moresetting as I get older. I dread the thought. However, as a person with a disability whose last family member only recently passed away I'm aware that at some point I may need another level of care and support. Marquette, a Life Plan retirement community, is one of Central Indiana's better options. I've experienced Marquette in a multitude of ways - from visits to chaplaincy to friends who have lived (and continue to live) here to my own experiences. Marquette is located on Indy's northwest side. It's on a 47-acre wooded campus that offers independent living, assisted living, a health campus, short-term rehab, and memory care. They're getting ready to create a new area called "The Commons" to create a pickleball area (I really need to try that sometime), a lounge, a grilling area and more. As you enter Marquette (which used to be known as both Marquette Manor and Marquette Senior Living), you pass through a monitored gate entrance. I believe it's 24/7 and I've never been here when someone wasn't present. It helps to know the names of the different areas as signage is really geared more toward community than commercial. The different areas are clearly defined. This is a wooded setting with trails, a small lake, and an abundance of parking (though I'll say one deficit is that finding accessible parking if you're not a resident is difficult at times). Services include transportation (shopping, medical, events/outings), valet parking, bi-weekly housekeeping and weekly flat linen, healthcare at the on-campus Lynne O'Day Clinic, maintenance, lawn care, snow removal, emergency call systems, pendants w/GPS tracking, expanded basic cable/internet, all utilities (except phone), and free wifi throughout campus. Assistance in living is extra. Amenities include a variety of dining options in pretty amazing settings. This is a "facility," yet so often I'm amazed at what they've done to make it not feel like one. There's a more formal dining room, casual grill, outdoor dining area, and even a "Township Tavern." Marquette has an athletic center run by the National Institute of Fitness and Sports. There are wellness programs run by two full-time, on-site personal trainers. There's a performing arts center, on-campus BMO Harris banking, a massage studio, guest suites for visitors (and private dining room areas), a woodworking shop, a business center, a chapel (that accommodates different faiths), walking/biking trails, a gift shop, and Marquette is pet friendly (small pets). Marquette, of course, has all the usual stuff - library, billiards, patio space, gardens. I've never had a bad experience here. Employees are well dressed, friendly, helpful, and discreet with personal assistance. They are protective of residents, however, it feels like almost "Disney" in a way. It's like friendly yet very definite. I've gotten the feeling more than once that these employees would kick your a** if you tried to hurt one of their residents. The front desk people are helpful and knowledgeable. The website features a wealth of knowledge about community including strong knowledge about costs (Yes, it's expensive. Every retirement community is but I love that they're open about this kind of information). There are very few retirement settings where I think "I could live here," but Marquette is definitely one where I think "I could live here." I dread the day when I may actually need more help, but if I reach that point I sure hope I can find a place like Marquette to live.

The history of Easter Seals Crossroads in Indiana starts in 1936. Mrs. William Gavin started a club…read morewith 12 people with disabilities with a primary goal of socialization. Joined by Mrs. P.R. Mallory, they would expand into creating profitable handicrafts and in 1939 the group formally organized under the Indiana Society for Crippled Children. I'll admit it. The word crippled makes me cringe. A year later, the group affiliated with national Easter Seals and acquired an office at 30th and New Jersey. They've had various offices, however, they've been settled in at 4740 Kingsway Drive (think 47th & Keystone) since 1990. Today, Easter Seals is CARF accredited (This is a big deal) and offers physical, occupational, and speech therapies for children and adolescents along with early intervention programs, augmentative communication, adult day services, employment and transition services, veteran services, home modification services, assistive technology services, and deaf services. They offer a lot. For the last three years, I've served as a jury member for Easterseals Southern California's Disability Film Challenge. This has, in turn, increased my awareness of the local organization and the marvelous work they do. Of course, getting to know Yelper Katy E. (Hi Katy!) has also helped. As an organization, I love that Easter Seals participates in Project Search, an opportunity for young adults with disabilities to get some experience in a work setting. It's kind of like an internship and it's a wonderful program. Here in Indy, Easter Seals has offices on Kingsway Drive, Thompson Road on the Southside, and Crossroads Industrial Services on the Eastside. As another review has indicated, Easter Seals is also known for letting organizations use its big 5th floor meeting room. I work for the State of Indiana and even we've used it. The offices here are well kept. The building is obviously accessible. The people who work here are passionate about what they do - trust me, you don't work at a non-profit planning to get rich. You get paid fairly (and Easter Seals is good about this), but this is something you do because you actually care. For folks with disabilities, Easter Seals Crossroads is definitely one of Indy's hidden gems and best non-profits. They do remarkable work that leads to greater independence and empowerment and life opportunities. I'm all about that!

I don't come to this building but a few times a year, for large meetings that our own office cannot…read morehold. I appreciate that they allow us to use this location when we need it. It's located in the office park off of Keystone and 46th and houses a lot of different companies. The building is kept very clean! But not in that sterile freaky way. It also gives the impression that it is kept very secure since every person needs to sign in. My only visit is the 5th floor, off the elevator and over to the large meeting room. Everything is clean, and we have never had issues with the internet connection for presentations. I also appreciate that it is a spacious meeting room with a lot of tables and chairs in the back. No one likes to be piled on top of each Other during long meetings. Thanks for the hospitality Easter seals!

They…read morecould not handle his behavior associated with Alzheimer's (which they advertised they could) They would call my mom continuously about how many problems they were having. The place he is at now has wonderful training a d they are wonderful at working with my dad's Alzheimer's symptoms. When we picked my dad up fr Anthology, his belongings had poop on them and you could smell the urine on the items. I could go on but I'll stop here. I just wish they wouldn't advertise memory care and stuck with their long term living side of things.

Anthology was wonderful until they changed management within the last year. It has now become…read morehorrible. They are understaffed and use many temporary staff, which are not well trained. I echo the above review concerning Alzheimer's. My husband and I were given many reassurances, but in the end, there were almost daily calls about how they could not handle behaviors. There were vague insinuations that my father in law would be kicked out. We had to change hospice agencies and the new agency informed us that they walked in to him covered in stool and appearing in pain. Both of my in laws were there, but we moved my mother in law due to repeated falls and their requirement that we hire an independent aide. She was not being well cared for. The final straw came when they sent the wrong person to the new facility where we were transferring my mother in law!!! I am so unhappy with the new management. My father in law died and the person who was staffing the memory care unit had no idea that he died (she asked us if we had asked my father in law for his permission before we entered his room to remove his belongings.) We are still waiting for any sort of condolences from the executive director. (He called and asked where we wanted a reimbursement check sent without even a sorry for your loss.) Please don't use this facility for your loved ones.
