The last time I went to Mirage for a haircut was my final visit there…read more Because they kept allowing friends of the barbers there to come in and go straight to the head of the line, I got knocked out my place in line 4 different times from 4 different walk-in customers and because of this it took me 4 hours to finally get a haircut. But then it got worse; my barber didn't listen to any of my instructions or wishes and he just cut my hair how he felt like it. That wouldn't have been as bad if he had done a good job, but it was more like it was the guy's first day on the job and he had no training at all. However he cut my hair it made no sense and I have to wait to go to a different place to get my haircut fixed. I gave the guy a tip out of habit and he didn't even say thank you to me. In fact after being a customer there for a while, this time I felt like they didn't want me there at all and that they didn't want me to return. No problem, I will not return.

But my son, a young adult with a cognitive disability, knows competent professionals! We won't take him anywhere else than The Gentlemen's Barber Shop now and I doubt he would let any place else touch his hair. Their prices are reasonable but the barbers, of course, also know their worth. Of course, most of their clients are neurotypical but they do a great job on my son.

I asked the ONLY barber there if he was the gentleman I spoke with and he said 'yes'. I said 'well, it looks like you have alot of people in here' (there were about 7 guys waiting and ONLY 1 barber). Ol boy told me to take a ticket that has a number on it! Like it was the secretary of state. Bizarre! I then asked 'don't you do appointments'? He said 'yes, only during the week'. It was freakn Thurs. Isn't that the week? I just wasted my time making an appointment, driving to Ypsi, and parking only to be told to 'take a ticket'. WTF! Crazy. I saw Spartans Place was already open so I took my boys in. Two friendly gentlemen sat them right away and started working on them. All these years of going to the chain haircut places with high turnover rates and less than satisfactory haircuts.... WHY?!?! I only wish I discovered this place years ago. The place is nice and quiet and the gentlemen just let their hands do the talking. They were kind and gentle with my children and they have NEVER gotten such a beautiful haircut with so much care put in. These men have skills and they take pride in their work. I hope I don't have to go anywhere else ever again!! Also, I didn't know it was cash only and I had just enough to cover the haircuts. I apologized for not being able to tip today and they both just smiled and said don't even worry about it. Rest assured I will double their tip on our next visit.

Reviewing these guys now because I was just overcharged to the tune of $105 for a worse haircut at Legend barbershop. I feel like a chump and I want to help others avoid a similar experience.
