We've been coming to Dr. J's office for the past year and a half and couldn't be happier. Her and…read moreher staff are nothing short of amazing. Even when we moved from the south side of San Antonio to the northwest area, we kept 4 Paws as our primary vet's office. What really impresses me about Dr. Jamiez is her dedication to not only the animals, but to her practice. There have been times where I've gotten a call from her late at night or on her off day and she was following up on our pets. She's always dealing with a pet emergency, and yes that may delay/postpone our appointment times, but it shows her priorities lie with the health and safety of the animals first and foremost. Besides the overall personality of this vet's office, another impressive aspect is their prices. When you compare them to other vet's offices in San Antonio, they have unbelievably affordable prices. I've commented about this to one of the vet techs, and she responded that since a lot of 4 Paws pet owners come from low income background, Dr. J does everything she can to ensure her clients and their pets have access to affordable care.

I brought in my Chow Chow Rotty, who has a ton of thick fur and sheds like crazy, grooming him is no small job, and I've done it myself, so I know the effort it takes. With the previous owners, Rotty would be kept there from morning until late afternoon, and he'd come home thirsty and needing to pee badly. The environment also didn't feel very welcoming, which left me uneasy. Now, with the new team, the change is incredible. The place smells clean, looks spotless even the kennels and they actually let you walk your dog to the back and settle them in yourself. It's reassuring to see the grooming and holding areas and know exactly where your pet will be. Very transparent. They keep their doors locked because the staff are usually in the back grooming pets, but there's a sign asking you to call, it's just a security measure, and once they come to the door, you're greeted so warmly it feels like walking into someone's home. Most importantly, they take amazing care of Rotty. The longest he's ever been there is 2 hours, which is incredible given the amount of fur he has. I truly feel safe and comfortable leaving him in their care. I highly recommend this place if you want your fur baby treated with love, respect, and professionalism. The new owners are doing a fantastic job. I'm very thankful to their service.

Over the past month, she declined -- vomiting, not eating, and visibly distressed. I spent nearly $1,000 trying to help her get better. On June 10, she worsened dramatically. Her stomach was bloated, and she was vomiting thick fluid. I called the clinic multiple times, urgently asking to have her seen. I was told I'd have to wait for her appointment the next morning or take her to an emergency clinic. I asked for Dr. Green to call me. She never did. Sweets was suffering. I had no choice but to take her to an emergency hospital we'd never been to. That's where I had to say goodbye -- she was in critical condition and had to be euthanized. She passed in a strange place, without the vet she'd known for so long. To make matters worse, the ER discovered a tumor the size of a baseball. This didn't appear overnight. It had clearly been developing over time -- and considering her cancer history at Sommerset, how was that not the first thing they checked? When I requested her records, I read this in their chart note: "Pt has appt 6/11 at 8:30. Said pt is getting worse and keeps insisting. Dr. Green says pt has to wait for tomorrow or go to EC... o says she spent 1,000 of dollars..." They knew I was calling in distress. They knew Sweets was getting worse. No help. No callback. No compassion. The next morning, I called to let them know she had passed. The receptionist simply said, "We'll cancel her appointment." No condolences. Nothing. I trusted this clinic. Sweets deserved better. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone who values responsiveness or humane care during a pet emergency.

They wrongly marked the puppy passports due to not paying attention. Then they told one of my customers that they had to start over on their puppy vaccines because "the breeder" did them too early (6 weeks old). This is "funny" because they sure didn't have trouble taking my money for those vaccines for the entire litter. I had previously been in to inquire on a worming schedule for the puppies and they said "some breeders do them early like 4 weeks old but we can just do them at their 6 week checkup".....You mean the one that is too early? Also, when I called to clarify things for MY customer, they got an attitude and started throwing a lot of excuses and false stories to deflect from what they are doing. They went so far as to say I was distracted by my 3 year old and wasn't listening. Really? We are resorting to blaming a 3 year old instead of saying maybe you mispoke. The 3 year old who got blamed for distracting wasn't even in the clinic the day I made my next appointment for puppy boosters. You would think if it was too early they would've said something especially if they care about customer retention. Did more research and called other vets and they said we wouldn't have to redo anything. This vet just seems a little untrustworthy and a LOT unorganized.
